I'm Shocked - My Favourite Salomon Trainers Are Now In The Amazon Prime Day Sale
There aren't many things EmRata and I have in common, but there's one thing I'm certain of - we have the same taste in trainers. EmRata is a big trainer fan (as am I) and has been spotted wearing pretty much every go-to brand, whether that be Puma's Speedcat trainers or the New Balance 574s. But, there's one brand in particular that we both come back to time and time again - Salomon. No longer reserved for those with a penchant for Gore-Tex or off-duty hikers in the Dolomites, Gen Z has taken Salomon trainers and thrust them into something far cooler in the increasingly aestheticised world of outdoorsy or 'crunchy' fashion. EmRata often opts for the XT-6 Skylines - a sleek Salomon trainer that can either be styled with a pair of cargo trousers, or, the EmRata way, with a sheer dress. Salomon's trainers always hit the sweet spot of versatility, they're made for the urban-trekker - and by that I mean they suggest that either a) you're about to summit a minor peak, or b) you're off out to grab a flat white in East London. Bella Hadid is in on the action too, spotted back in 2021 (and many times since) wearing a pair of bright red XT-4 Salomons. My Salomon of choice is the Ultra Pioneer. Somewhat easier to track down compared to the cult favourite XT-6s, but not overdone, the Ultra Pioneer shoe is a great one to have in your casual wardrobe, whether you're planning on hiking with them or not. The shoes have carried me through my 10,000-steps-a-day personal challenge and a 15-mile hike without any discomfort whatsoever - and not to sound dramatic, but I might never go back to anything unless (unless Salomon brings out a loafer, then, yes, I'm very likely to invest). In terms of sizing, I'm usually a UK 4.5 in most shoes, or if the brand doesn't offer middling sizes, I'll opt for a 5. In my Salomons, I went with a 5 and the trainers fit perfectly - roomy (but not too roomy) in the toe box and snug (but not so snug that it causes blisters) in the rest of the foot. Salomon, Ultra Pioneer Gore-Tex Outdoor Shoes Salomon describes its Ultra Pioneer shoes as a 'versatile hiking shoe', meaning it's made for climbs and everyday adventures (even if that's your morning coffee run). Available in a gorgeous grey and sage green colourway, style with wide leg trousers and a boxy tee. Salomon, Women's Speedcross Trail Running Shoe The Speedcross shoe is another popular Salomon design, purely for the fact that it's a legendary trail shoe with unmatched grip and fit. The fit inside features a cradle for your heel and welded upper, and it also comes in a pretty sweet pink colourway. Salomon, Women's X Ultra 360 Leather Walking Shoe If you're on the hunt for a trainer that can also double up as a walking shoe, Salomon offers the perfect pair - complete with an advanced chassis, moulded toe cap and waterproof membrane. Its muted colourway also makes it perfect for pairing with jeans and maxi skirts. Salomon, Unisex XA Pro V8 Waterproof Shoes Although advertised as children's, I can personally vouch for these Salomons as I have these myself. The sizes go all the way up to a UK 13.5 and are perfect for those with a slightly narrower-than-average foot. Salomon, Women's Reelax Slide If you want to invest in a Salomon, but you're not a trainer fan, the brand also does a sandal that's perfect for summer (and is also in the Prime Day sale). The vanilla ice shade is our favourite, and can be styled as well with midi dresses and satin skirts, as it can be with trousers.
