A Recoleta Hideaway
Recoleta Cultural Centre (Centro Cultural Recoleta) - Buenos Aires, Argentina Buenos Aires has long been one of my favorite cities. The stunning architecture, great meals and sultry tango make this city a divine place to visit throughout the year. It never really gets cold here, although the Argentines may think it does in the winter: which is our summer given that they are on the other side of the equator. There are lots of great hotels and apartments for rent in a number of lively neighborhoods. I have loved spending time in the various Palermos, contiguous areas named for the film industry and other businesses. buenos aires, argentina, 03 November 2022: people walking on the street in the popular Soho Palermo ... More neighborhood However, probably my favorite place to stay is in Recoleta, home to the imposing cemetery where Eva Peron is buried. It is trendy, upscale, safe and walkable. It is also home to numerous restaurants open at all hours of the day. The entrance to the hotel. One of the nicest places, with a great restaurant, that I have stayed there is the Loi Suites. It's a business hotel that covers all the culinary bases with intense local beef and lighter fare like salmon. So, I recently sat down with executive chef Dario Galizia to find out more about how he caters to locals and guests. All responses have been edited and condensed for clarity. Liza B. Zimmerman (L.B.Z.): How does your menu feature the classics of Argentine cuisine? Darío Galizia (D.G.): By blending Argentine flavors with Mediterranean and international cuisine. L.B.Z.: Which of the dishes show the most Spanish versus Italian influence? D.G.: The pasta dishes are more focused on Italian cuisine, and the tapas and some of the chef's suggestions are Spanish. Our cuisine clearly emphasizes Mediterranean cuisine, but we also offer Argentinean dishes. Sweetbreads with potatoes and tomatoes. The stuffed pastas that have become the most popular in our culture through Italian immigration are: ravioli, tortellini, agnolotti, malfatti, lasagna and cannelloni. With different types of fillings—spinach orchard, ricotta or mozzarella, different types of cheese, and meats—chicken, lamb, beef or fish—there are many varieties and styles, from more traditional to more gourmet. As for sauces, we always start with the three mother sauces: tomato, bechamel or cream and demi-glace. These can be combined with other garnishes such as mushrooms, seafood, nuts, fresh herbs and meats. Spanish dishes are most often found in chef's suggestions or at special celebrations. They might include beef cheeks, grilled octopus with an omelet, seafood casserole or paellas, mushroom, shrimp, or veal croquettes. L.B.Z.: What types of ingredients, preparations and dishes do you think of as classic in the lexicon of Argentine food? Executive chef Dario Galizia. D.G.: Meat is the most prominent product in Argentina: ribeye, sweetbreads and loin. Argentine cuisine is naturally characterized by the grill or the barbecue. There are many types of cuts and products cooked over charcoal. Empanadas of all kinds are also an important part of the cuisine. However, there are many typical dishes that are influenced by the predominantly Italian and Spanish immigrants. Pasta, for example, is very traditional, especially stuffed pasta. There are also several types of stews and casseroles, that originate from Spain. L.B.Z.: What types of sauces and spices are typical in the preparation and consumption of Argentine food? D.G.: Oregano, ground chili, garlic, parsley, cumin, sweet or hot paprika, vinegar and sunflower oil are some of the ingredients you can find in a chimichurri. If you want it to be spicy, add a few small chilies black pepper, Tabasco, or whatever you like. In any case, there are as many chimichurris as there are grilled meats in the world. L.B.Z.: What makes Argentine beef so spectacular? Beef with Malbec sauce. D.G.: The type of cattle breeds that were introduced from Europe adapted perfectly to our country, especially due to the type of our topography which features vast flatland with lots of food, which means that our cows do not have to walk too far to feed. This generates an almost perfect marbling between meat and fat and a soft muscle, which makes for tasty and tender meat. L.B.Z.: How do your county's wines pair with the food? D.G.: There are some combinations that never fail, such as Cabernet Sauvignon with red meat, Sauvignon Blanc with fish or seafood or Malbec with pasta.

Wix, Monotype to Expand Font Library & Empower Creators Globally
Ltd. (WIX) recently partnered with Monotype Imaging Inc., a renowned name in typography and font technology. The collaboration significantly expands Wix's font library, offering users, including self-creators, professional designers and agencies, access to a wide array of high-quality typefaces that elevate content and align with unique brand identities. Ranging from timeless classics like Helvetica and Avenir to modern icons such as Recoleta, Kibitz Pro and Aether, the enhanced library is poised to upgrade Wix's creative toolkit. The new fonts available through the Wix-Monotype partnership cover a wide range of styles and uses, making them perfect for small business owners, entrepreneurs, creative agencies and personal projects and portfolios. According to Wix, the fonts were carefully selected in collaboration with Monotype's team of type design experts, creating a globally inclusive and stylistically varied library that supports all creators, regardless of their skill level or design background. Typography now plays a crucial role in brand identity, and platforms like Wix are making it easier to craft unique, on-brand digital experiences. By collaborating with Monotype, Wix demonstrates its commitment to providing top-quality design tools for everyone, from experts to large enterprises. Wix's mission has always been to enable users to create professional, attractive websites without writing code. This move further confirms Wix's transition from a template-based website builder to a comprehensive design platform that combines ease of use with extensive customization options. Wix remains committed to advancing its strategic priorities by investing in AI capabilities, Studio and commerce platforms. Recently, it partnered with a global leader in B2B e-commerce, to empower digital entrepreneurs, small businesses and emerging brands by expanding their global presence and simplifying international trade. By combining Wix's robust commerce infrastructure with extensive wholesale network, the partnership aims to unlock seamless global trade opportunities in more than 200 countries and regions. In April 2025, the company joined forces with ActiveCampaign, a top marketing automation platform, to offer an all-in-one solution for businesses, franchises and multi-location brands. This helps simplify website and marketing tools, making operations easier and boosting customer engagement. Wix is also committed to balancing sustainable revenue growth with improved operating efficiencies. The company aims to achieve "Rule of 45" at the high end of its 2025 outlook, a financial strategy that integrates revenue growth rate and profit margin. Strong execution in AI, Studio and operational cost management is likely to drive higher margins and record profitability. With Studio performing strongly and AI-driven usage and conversion improving, Wix expects these initiatives to be key growth drivers for 2025. Nonetheless, amid ongoing economic uncertainty, Wix remains cautious about its full-year outlook, mainly due to its Business Solutions unit. This part of the business, including commerce and GPV, is highly sensitive to consumer spending and economic shifts. While forex trends offer slight short-term relief, they don't solve the bigger risks. The business looks stable now, but the situation is fragile and could change quickly. Tribute Portfolio, part of Marriott Bonvoy's global portfolio of over 30 extraordinary hotel brands, marks its debut in Buenos Aires with the opening of Recoleta Grand, Buenos Aires, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. Located in the dynamic Recoleta district - known for its European charm and cultural richness - the property joins Tribute Portfolio's growing family of characterful, independent hotels around the world. Nestled in the heart of Recoleta, a storied neighborhood affectionately known as "La París Argentina," Recoleta Grand invites guests to discover the cultural and architectural spirit of Buenos Aires through a singular lens of bold design and vibrant local storytelling. Embodying Tribute Portfolio's ethos of captivating design, the hotel draws inspiration from the bohemian charm and literary richness that define its surrounding district, blending early 20th-century grandeur with a modern indie sensibility. The hotel's 142 guest rooms, including 6 eclectic suites, feature layered interiors designed by local designer Lucas Gashu that honor porteña culture and French influence through a thoughtful mix of textures, art, and bespoke details. From check-in to last call, the hotel brings to life an enchanting literary and cultural narrative that resonates throughout the experience. Literature is a core theme, with complimentary bilingual books in every guest room and curated vintage collections throughout the hotel's communal spaces. Dining experiences at The Recoleta Grand reflect a bold fusion of local identity and culinary heritage, led by Executive Chef Maximiliano Matsumoto, whose refined yet approachable style blends Argentine ingredients with contemporary flair and subtle oriental influences. Born in Buenos Aires, Matsumoto trained under celebrated chef Germán Martitegui and honed his craft in some of the most iconic kitchens including Faena, Olsen, Casa Cruz, and Tegui. Café de Prensa celebrates Buenos Aires' literary scene with specialty coffee and unique design that is inspired by the written word. The Atrium serves as an elegant, all-day bistro rooted in local flavors. Mansión Mihura, a preserved historical corner of majestic Buenos Aires, where spaces like La Maga, Rayuela, and Serpent Club coexist - features bold, author-driven cuisine in immersive spaces inspired by Latin American literature. Design of this space was led by internationally acclaimed studio EDG Interior Architecture + Design, who brought a layered vision to life by fusing historical elegance with modern expression. At the helm of the hotel's cocktail program is Ignacio Maggio, one of Argentina's most respected mixologists and the first Argentine to win the prestigious World Class Argentina competition in 2017. With over a decade of experience, Maggio has shaped award-winning bar programs across Latin America, including Acorde Bar in Ecuador, recognized on the 50 Best Discovery list for its immersive fusion of cocktails, music, and art. At Recoleta Grand, he brings a distinctive blend of technical precision, cultural storytelling, and creative flair—crafting cocktails that transcend the glass and invite guests on a sensory journey through Argentina's rich landscape of flavor and tradition.
