New sports cafe with live podcasts opening soon near UNC Charlotte
A new sports cafe called Crazy Legs will open in University City this fall.
Why it matters: Owners Devante Powell and Wilson Rogers hope their restaurant will be "the future of dining," offering everything from air-fried foods to streaming technology for a lively sports atmosphere.
What to expect: In addition to grease-free food, the cafe will serve signature loaded dishes with base options like salads, fries, rice, and eventually, turkey legs.
Crazy Legs, which has one other location in Michigan, will also have other classic bar staples, including wings and sliders.
There will be a 20-drink cocktail menu, including some with Red Bull-based and frozen options.
The vibe: The 2,300-square-foot space will feature a front-facing stage for weekly live podcast recordings — visible from the street and designed primarily for sports-related shows.
It will have a sports bar atmosphere with multiple TVs, plus indoor bar and table seating.
What they're saying: Powell tells Axios he wants to create a dining space that blends food and entertainment — where guests become part of a live audience as they eat.
"I've noticed in Charlotte people like to be entertained early and go to bed at a decent time. We wanted to create an environment that was fun and different. This restaurant is for those who want to do fun daytime things," said Powell.
