4 murders in 3 years: How 2 Rohtak gangsters sparked a deadly rivalry
Rohtak: A deadly gang war that began over a car dispute six years ago claimed its fourth life in Rohtak in three years on Saturday. Ankit's associate Hansraj purchased a bus and sought security from Himanshu's gang to manage scuffles during operations. In return, Himanshu demanded a car, which was purchased on loan using documents from Ankit's family. When EMIs defaulted, the car was asked to be returned, but Himanshu's gang refused, and hostilities escalated. In 2019, Himanshu shot at Ankit's brother Sunny during a stadium altercation. Arrested, Himanshu fled from a juvenile home. Ankit, in retaliation, expanded his gang and began targeting Himanshu's allies, sparking a series of revenge killings and extortion rackets. On March 2, 2022, Ankit's gang killed Himanshu's cousin Rohit alias Bajrang. Another villager, Rajender, was also shot dead when he tried to intervene. In retaliation, Himanshu's men murdered Ankit's associate Hansraj just five days later. Himanshu, by then operating under the alias "Bhau" fled India on a fake passport and is currently residing in the US, still orchestrating operations remotely. Ankit and his brother Sunny are in jail but reportedly continue to run their gang from behind bars. The latest killing of Ankit's uncle Anil, who was involved in earlier criminal surveillance, was allegedly carried out on Himanshu's orders, according to local sources. The Bhau gang reportedly controls half of Ritoli village and has operatives across states, while the Baba gang comprises 25–30 members in the village and over 150 in surrounding regions. Nampally court issues proclamation against ex-SIB chief T Prabhakar Rao in phone-tapping case
HYDERABAD: The Nampally criminal court has issued proclamation orders against former Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) chief and retired IPS officer T Prabhakar Rao, one of the main accused in the phone-tapping case, for evading proceedings for over a year. The court passed the order after being satisfied that Prabhakar Rao was deliberately avoiding the legal process. If he fails to appear within a month, the court may order the attachment of his assets. The prosecution told the court that the case was registered at Panjagutta police station in March 2024, and that Prabhakar Rao has since remained in the US, refusing to cooperate with the investigation. A Hyderabad police official said the order mandates Prabhakar's appearance within a specified timeframe. The court also directed the police to serve the proclamation order. The proclamation was issued under Sections 82 and 83 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which allow courts to declare an accused a proclaimed offender and attach their property if they are found evading proceedings. Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice against Prabhakar. His anticipatory bail petition was rejected by the Telangana High Court a few days ago.

1993 Bombay blasts case: 66-year-old accused Farooq Takla found guilty of passport forgery
This is a representational AI image MUMBAI: Alleged to be one of the main conspirators in the 1993 Bombay blasts case, 66-year-old Farooq Yasin Mansoor, alias Farooq Takla , was on Saturday convicted and sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment for travelling to India from Dubai on a forged passport in 2018. "Evidence on record, ie, oral and documentary evidence, shows that the accused... applied for the passport and renewal of the passport by using the name Mustaq Mohammed Miya, which is not his real name. The passport application and passport contain false particulars, false information, and a forged signature. It shows that the accused, by hiding his real identity and submitting false information, obtained the passport and also got it renewed," additional chief judicial magistrate RD Chavan said. Mansoor was arrested in this case in 2020. Having already served five years as an undertrial, his sentence in this case will be considered time served, meaning he will not have to serve any further time for this particular charge. However, he will remain in custody due to the ongoing trial in the blasts case. Alleged to be absconding since 1993, Mansoor was arrested after he landed in New Delhi in 2018. A Red Corner notice was also issued by Interpol against him in 1995. The magistrate noted that Mansoor assumed the identity of Miya, as evidenced by the name mentioned in the passport application and on the passport itself. "The accused affixed his own photograph and signed as... Miya, while knowing fully well that he is not... Miya. Perusal of the passport application and the passport shows that the passports were issued based on this deception," the magistrate said. Investigating the 1993 Bombay Blast Case, officer Shivkumar Jayant deposed that the accused was arrested on March 8, 2018, at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The arrest followed credible information that the accused was travelling from Dubai to New Delhi under the assumed name of Miya, using a fake passport obtained in 2011 based on a renewed application from a 2001 passport. Jayant stated that in 2018, the accused wrote letters to the Prime Minister of India identifying himself as Farooq Mansoor. Handwriting analysis confirmed that Mushtaq Miya and Farooq Mansoor are the same person. The original Mushtaq Miya was traced through the Regional Passport Office, Mumbai, which revealed that the accused used his name and background in the passport renewal application. Jayant also confirmed the accused's arrest and personal search at the airport on March 8, 2018.
