Driver of stolen vehicle facing numerous charges in relation to fatal Red Deer crash
The man who police allege is responsible for a fatal crash in Red Deer on Tuesday has been charged with eight offences.
The 33-year-old Red Deer County resident faces one charge each of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death, and failing to stop after an accident causing death.
He also faces two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, and one charge each of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and breaking and entering.
Mounties believe the man was inebriated when he allegedly drove a stolen pickup truck into an SUV at 40 Avenue and 22 Street, killing its 46-year-old driver, then stole another SUV to flee the scene.
He is due in court in Red Deer on Aug. 20.
