Andy Murray announces new career away from tennis days after split from Novak Djokovic

Andy Murray announces new career away from tennis days after split from Novak Djokovic The former British No.1 ended his coaching partnership with Djokovic after just six months of working together Murray has taken on a new job away from tennis Andy Murray has revealed he has taken up a new role away from tennis, just days after his coaching partnership with Novak Djokovic came to an end. Last week, it was announced that the retired former British No.1 would not be by Djokovic's side at Wimbledon this summer, with their short-lived partnership coming to end after just six months. The former rivals had previously shocked the tennis world by joining forces in November, with the Serbian star reaching the Australian Open semi-finals under Murray in January. ‌ However, the decision has now been made - reportedly by mutual agreement - for the pair to go their separate ways after just four tournaments together. ‌ "Thank you, coach Andy, for all the hard work, fun and support over last six months on and off the court - really enjoyed deepening our friendship together," Djokovic said as the split was made public. Murray added: "Thanks to Novak for the unbelievable opportunity to work together, and thanks to his team for all their hard work over the past six months. I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season." The 38-year-old's split from Djokovic has seen him linked with new coaching roles with the likes of British stars Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper, but he has instead confirmed he has stepped up his interest in investing and taken on a new job as a venture capitalist. Article continues below Murray has become an associate partner at Redrice Ventures in London and will head up a group of athlete advisors - the Redrice Sports Collective - to help find investment opportunities, particularly in the sports business. He previously worked alongside Redrice in 2018 as part of a co-investment in sports wear company Castore. 'It's difficult to step away from a sport like tennis, which has been so all-consuming for me for so long, and then not have anything to fill that void,' said Murray as his new role was announced. ‌ 'I've seen it before with other athletes — when they haven't had other interests straight after sport, it becomes hard for them to know who they are.' 'I'm also only 38 years old, so that's a long time to be retired. My plan was always to spend more time on my other business interests once I'd finished playing tennis, and I'm enjoying starting to work on some of those projects now.' On how involved Murray will be with Redrice, the company confirmed in a statement that the two-time Wimbledon champion is "still working through his next steps post-tennis". Article continues below "Even this week things have changed as he's stepped away from coaching Novak," the statement continued. "So his time commitment to Redrice will become clearer as the relationship develops". Murray's investment portfolio already includes the luxury five-star Cromlix Hotel that he bought with his wife Kim in 2013 for a reported sum of £1.8 million, with the couple turning it into one of Scotland's most highly-sought after venues. He was also an early investor in Game4Padel, the UK's largest operator of padel courts, while he has started a business partnership with crowdfunding website Seedrs in order to invest in several fledgling start-up firms.

Chance to pitch to Andy Murray as Scottish sporting icon becomes investor

The tennis champion will help find purpose-driven founders and businesses that match his values to invest in. Scottish tennis icon Sir Andy Murray is stepping further into the world of business, joining Redrice Ventures as an Associate Partner in a move that could see entrepreneurs pitching their ideas directly to the former Wimbledon champion. The Olympic gold medallist and three-time Grand Slam winner has already made waves in the investment world, having built a portfolio of more than 40 ventures across wellness, technology, hospitality and sport. ‌ Now, he's taking on a more hands-on role with the London-based venture capital firm Redrice Ventures, Scottish Daily Express reports. Murray's connection with Redrice dates back to 2018, when he partnered with the firm to co-invest in premium sportswear brand Castore, which is now valued at $1billion. ‌ Tom March, founder of Redrice Ventures, shared the news of Murray's appointment on LinkedIn, hailing the move as a reflection of the changing landscape of modern entrepreneurship. 'Proud to share that Andy Murray has joined Redrice Ventures as an associate partner,' he said. 'We've known Andy for a while, we first teamed up back in 2018 when we co-invested in Castore (now valued at $1bn). "It's been great to see how much we align when it comes to backing founders with purpose and building brands that actually mean something.' March praised the tennis star's approach to investment, adding: 'Andy's not just a legend on the court, he's built an impressive 40-plus portfolio of quality investments across wellness, tech, hospitality, and sport. "What stands out is how intentional he is about the businesses he supports, it's never just about the numbers. He's totally committed to leveraging his network to provide support.' ‌ He continued: 'This partnership also says something about where the world is heading. Athletes today aren't just athletes. "They're entrepreneurs, cultural leaders, wellness advocates and they're helping shape how people live, work, and think. Wellness isn't a side topic anymore; it's become a cultural filter for how everyday decisions get made. Andy really gets that.' ‌ March said Murray would play a key role in the company's current and future funds, and encouraged founders to get in touch. He said: 'For both our current and future Redrice funds, we're so excited to have him involved, not just for his experience, but for what he stands for, and his real drive to back businesses that matter. 'Plenty more to come, watch this space. And if you're building something special at seed or Series A, or just want to hear about our future plans, feel free to reach out.' ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Murray said his mindset as a professional athlete has helped shape his approach to investment. 'My tennis career taught me the importance of discipline, resilience, and strategic thinking,' he said. 'And for the past few years, I've channelled this mindset into investing, where possible focusing on British businesses that have the potential to create lasting impact and positive change. I've backed over 40 ventures in sectors from technology to fitness, hospitality to wellness. 'As an investor, I'm driven by the same principles that guided my tennis career, the pursuit of excellence, the importance of teamwork, and the belief that success is achieved through smart decisions and long-term vision.'

Andy Murray lands a totally new role after splitting with Novak Djokovic

Tennis icon Andy Murray has transitioned from his illustrious sporting career to embrace a new challenge as a venture capitalist. The Scottish hero, renowned for securing three Grand Slam titles and winning two Olympic golds, has shifted his focus away from tennis and towards his business ventures. Murray hung up his racquet after the Paris Olympics last year and didn't waste any time delving into the world of coaching, assisting his old adversary Novak Djokovic. Despite his expertise, Murray's stint as a coach was brief, spanning less than six months. Murray began working with Djokovic at the Australian Open in January before parting ways last week. Now, Murray steps onto a different playing field, having joined Redrice Ventures as an associate partner, signalling his deeper journey into the business world. The tennis icon spoke to the Sunday Times about his departure from the sport. "It's difficult to step away from a sport like tennis, which has been so all-consuming for me for so long, and then not have anything to fill that void," Murray admitted. "I've seen it before with other athletes - when they haven't had other interests straight after sport, it becomes hard for them to know who they are. "I'm also only 38 years old, so that's a long time to be retired. My plan was always to spend more time on my other business interests once I'd finished playing tennis, and I'm enjoying starting to work on some of those projects now." His post-tennis plan was always to dedicate more time to his business ventures, and he's now relishing the opportunity to dive into some of those projects. When asked what qualities he would bring to the company, he replied: "I think for me it's the work ethic and single-minded determination to succeed." Murray has previously collaborated with Redrice after investing in sportswear brand Castore in 2018 and has also built a property investment portfolio outside the sports world. Regarding the tennis star's involvement, Redrice mentioned that Murray is "still working through his next steps post-tennis, and even this week things have changed as he's stepped away from coaching Novak, so his time commitment to Redrice will become clearer as the relationship develops". Murray will have a lot more free time after parting ways with Djokovic. However, he had nothing but kind words for his former rival, emphasising that there's no bad blood between them. "Thanks to Novak for the unbelievable opportunity to work together, and thanks to his team for all their hard work over the past six months," Murray said. "I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season."

Andy Murray split with Novak Djokovic as his coach last week and has now quickly moved onto his next career step - but for now he has stepped outside of tennis after becoming an associate partner at an investment firm Tennis legend Andy Murray has moved away from the sport by taking up a new role as a venture capitalist. The Scot won three Grand Slams in a superb career that saw him go toe-to-toe with the likes of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, while also winning two Olympic gold medals. Murray finally retired from tennis last year following the Paris Olympic Games and immediately moved into coaching by working with his long-time rival Djokovic. ‌ He coached the Serb for less than six months as he oversaw his Australian Open campaign but the former world No 1 was unable to win an event with Murray alongside him and they parted ways last week. ‌ Now Murray is exploring a totally different arena outside the court after accepting a job as an associate partner at investment firm Redrice Ventures, with the British star further exploring his business interests. Murray told the Sunday Times it was hard to move away from tennis but said he was always planning on dedicating time to his business interests after he hung up his racquet.
