Texas adds Stanford transfer walk-on at RB
The Texas Longhorns have made an addition to the 2025 football roster with sophomore running back Carson Berger joining the team as a walk on, filling an opening created when Reid Watkins entered the NCAA transfer portal this spring after receiving four carries for 15 as a true freshman.
Watkins is now on scholarship at South Dakota.
A 6'0, 216-pounder, Berger joins the Texas program after walking on as an inside linebacker at Stanford in 2023, as first noted by Inside Texas.
Classified as a sophomore, Berger played running back and linebacker on two state champion teams at the John Cooper School in the Woodlands, earning all-state and defensive MVP honors in addition to serving as the team's captain while setting school records for tackles (96), tackles for loss (28), and bench press.
