SA man on cross-carrying mission to Israel
Motorists driving on the N14 in the Muldersdrift area yesterday (August 14), might have seen a man walking with a South African flag and a large cross.
This man, Reini Coetzee, is on a mission to walk from Signal Hill in Cape Town all the way to Jerusalem, Israel. Tomorrow, August 16, he will have been on the road for five months after he kicked off his journey on March 16.
'I have walked 1 469km so far, however, this is not my first walk. I have undertaken two previous walks, the first in 2020 from Cape Town to Musina, and the second in 2023 from Cape Town to Namibia,' he said.
He added he has had a great experience so far. He will pass through Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan, and Egypt before reaching his final destination in Jerusalem.
But why is he doing this?
'I'm doing it in support of Israel. The cross I am carrying is a message and a symbol of hope for South Africa. I'm praying for our nation, our continent and to expand the kingdom of God,' he explained.
He was escorted by a local security company supporting his cause.
Guardmax Protection Services' director, Jan Venter, called him a true Samaritan.
