As BJP Completes 100 Days In Delhi, Opposition Raises Complaints
New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) return to Delhi after 26 years - with an almost 70 per cent majority - led to widespread celebrations, but the days that followed were anything but easy. Opposite it in the Assembly is the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which governed Delhi for 11 years and kept a hawk's eye on its rival's delivery of poll promises. The BJP's grand event at Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium to celebrate 100 days of the Chief Minister Rekha Gupta-led government witnessed a mention of Operation Sindoor, launched to avenge the deaths of 26 civilians in the Pahalgam terror attack. "I feel very sad when I think about those people who used to sit in the chair (of Chief Minister) and raise questions on the Indian Armed Forces and used to join hands with the enemies of the nation," she said in a evident jibe at the AAP. She also highlighted her government's work, emphasising that it functioned with honesty and dedication The AAP though called the Delhi government's promises hollow, releasing a "report card" of failures even before the 100-day mark. Speaking to NDTV, Leader of Opposition Atishi said, "100 days reflect the vision of any government, but this one hasn't even been able to present a clear vision." Ms Gupta's predecessor alleged that during the BJP's tenure, power outages have increased, electricity rates have been hiked, private school fees are skyrocketing, and bouncers are being used to evict students whose parents cannot pay fees. AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj criticised the lack of introduction of any new welfare initiatives, and a pause on schemes that were running successfully under Mr Kejriwal's administration for the past decade. He alleged that mohalla clinics have been shut down, the promised recruitment of bus marshals hasn't been conducted, women's pension schemes have been discontinued, and the "Farishte" emergency help program was also stopped. "In just 100 days, this government has turned life into hell," he said. Outside the stadium, AAP workers gathered to demand fulfilment of BJP's promise of giving Rs 2,500 per month to one woman in every family, but were detained later. NDTV spoke with citizens on the ground to gauge public opinion on the government's performance after 100 days in office. While Sandeep, an auto driver by profession, expressed satisfaction with the government's efforts so far, another driver said he has seen no tangible change and claimed that the BJP has failed to fulfill its promises. He also pointed out a rise in traffic challans. Several street vendors also reported increased harassment under the new administration. To residents who voiced anger over recent bulldozer actions, Ms Gupta assured that no slum in Delhi will be demolished. She clarified that some demolitions have occurred in specific areas due to court orders, not government directives. The Congress too launched a tirade against the incumbent government, with Delhi unit chief Devendra Yadav calling the BJP's action all talk and no action. The party listed 10 "major sins" of the BJP government, claiming that it presented a false Rs 1 lakh crore budget and gave Z-plus security to the state BJP president under the guise of public safety. They also alleged that to cover up its failures, the government spent crores of rupees from the public treasury. Mr Yadav accused the BJP of betraying the people who had high hopes from the government.

‘Just a little rain & Delhi under water': AAP targets BJP's ‘triple-engine' government
NEW DELHI: Making a scathing attack on the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government, the AAP on Sunday said that even a spell of light rain on Saturday night was enough to expose the complete collapse of the city's infrastructure under the BJP's so-called 'triple-engine' government. Party leaders alleged that while roads across the city were submerged in water, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma has not been seen for the last few days. The BJP responded, stating that after every rainy season, the people of Delhi can clearly see the difference between the previous administration and the current one. AAP leaders posted a video from ITO, commenting, 'When Delhiites woke up this morning, they found the city submerged. This is the result of the so-called four-engine government. A little rain and the roads are flooded. These waterlogged streets tell the true story of BJP's broken-down four-engine government.'

Delhi BJP govt to list works in 100-day report card on May 31
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is nearing 100 days of being in power in the Capital, and the chief minister Rekha Gupta-led government is likely to present a report card highlighting its works undertaken or implemented since it started ruling Delhi following a resounding victory after 27 years. The report card is likely to be presented to the people at a 'mega event' on May 31. It is likely to include initiatives related to the Yamuna, health care, private schools fees, and infrastructure improvement works, officials aware of the matter said. 'All ministers are also finalising details of the work done by their departments. The work will be compiled into one report which will encapsulate all that the BJP government has done within a short span of time,' said a Delhi government official privy to the development. In the last three months, the Delhi government has initiated several key works, especially those that featured frequently in its promises ahead of the February assembly elections. These include works for cleaning the Yamuna. The expenditure and finance committee, headed by chief minister Rekha Gupta, in April approved the setting up of 27 decentralised sewage treatment plants, treatment facilities and associated infrastructure at a cost of ₹3,140 crore for the river's cleaning. Besides, officials said, the government may also list the tabling of pending CAG reports in the Delhi Assembly — another key promise that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made during campaigning for the Assembly elections. Another major action is the rollout of the Centre's flagship health insurance scheme Ayushman Bharat Yojana, and Vaya Vandana Yojana that offers health insurance and pension benefits to senior citizens, both likely to feature in the report card, multiple government officials told HT. The government may also list the setting up of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, its primary health care centres, and closing down of Mohalla Clinics built by the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. The BJP government counts it among its achievements, said another government official. Other works include the roll-out of 400 new electric buses under the Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (Devi) e-bus service. The Devi buses, that began operation earlier this month, were introduced to improve last mile connectivity. The CM last month also flagged off a fleet of 1,111 GPS-enabled tankers to boost water supply, particularly in slums and unauthorized colonies. A second government official said that CM Gupta is likely to announce some new initiatives at the event, the details of which were not known. 'The event is likely to be held at a major venue which is not yet finalised, but Talkatora and Thyagaraj stadiums are among the options being explored by the government,' said the official, asking not to be named. The guest lists and the details of the event are yet to be finalised, added the official. Other key works that are currently in the pipeline and are likely be listed in the report card include the BJP's decision to provide ₹2,500 monthly allowance to eligible women — its key election promise that has been facing criticism from the opposition AAP due to delay in implementation. While the government has formed a ministerial committee for the same, it is yet to finalise the eligibility criteria for beneficiaries. Government officials and ministers are too tight-lipped on when the scheme will be finally rolled out. The government has allocated ₹5,100 crore for the scheme in the 2025-26 budget. Another work is the tabling and approvals of a bill by the Delhi cabinet to regulate fees charged by private schools. The bill, however, is yet to be tabled in the Delhi Assembly. In the February 2025 assembly elections, the BJP ousted the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government after coming to power in 48 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly.

SC allows Delhi BJP govt to withdraw cases against Centre, L-G filed under AAP regime
The Supreme Court on Friday permitted the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government to withdraw cases filed by the former AAP administration against the Centre and the Lieutenant Governor. A bench of Chief Justice of India B R Gavai and Justice Augustine George Masih allowed this after Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, appearing for the BJP-led government, said that 'these matters should not trouble this court anymore'. The law officer pointed out that the seven cases filed by the then Arvind Kejriwal government included one on the control of services in Delhi, the authority of L-G in committees, including solid waste management and Yamuna River cleaning, and against the validity of some Acts and ordinances issued by the Centre. The battle for control over services had resulted in a judgment by a five-judge constitution bench of the court on May 11, 2023. Giving control over services — excluding police, public order and land — to the Delhi government, the SC said the National Capital Territory administration is unlike other Union Territories and has been accorded a 'sui generis' (unique) status by the Constitution and that an elected government needs to have control over bureaucrats, failing which the principle of collective responsibility will be adversely affected. In an apparent bid to overcome this, the Centre on May 19, 2023, promulgated the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023, to set up a National Capital Civil Service Authority for the transfer and posting of Group-A officers in Delhi. The then AAP government challenged this before the SC, and the matter has been pending since. Another such dispute between the Delhi government and the L-G was over the January 19, 2023, National Green Tribunal order, which said the L-G would head a high-level committee for Yamuna rejuvenation. On a challenge by the AAP government, the SC had stayed the order. The two sides were also caught in litigation over the alleged non-release of funds for the Delhi Jal Board for 2023-2025 and the appointment of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) chairperson. Earlier, cases filed by the AAP government against officers were also withdrawn from the Delhi High Court. The AAP-led Delhi government had protested against the Ordinance and said it was behind the emboldening of bureaucrats who, it alleged, stopped following ministers' orders and attending meetings called by them. AAP ministers and then Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said the amended Act was a way to challenge the SC's verdict and had led officers to defy directions from the elected government, thereby stalling work in Delhi. Some examples given by party leaders was the stalled work on water and sewer pipelines and repair of broken roads. Many ministers had also written to the L-G seeking action against officers and claimed the officers were only following the L-G's directions. The allegations were denied by the L-G office.
