Officials told to expedite repair works of irrigation tanks in Sri Sathya Sai district
Sri Sathya Sai district Collector T.S. Chetan on Thursday reviewed the progress of the repair and restoration works of minor irrigation tanks under the Repair, Renovation, and Restoration (RRR) scheme of the Central government. He said that strengthening the water bodies in the district would auger well for the district's agricultural ecosystem. Addressing a meeting with the officials of the Minor Irrigation, Groundwater, and Water Resources departments here, the Collector underlined the need for taking up restoration works immediately, in view of the ensuing southwest monsoon. He informed the officials to adopt a targeted approach to identify and rehabilitate tanks, which were critical to sustaining ayacut and galvanising the groundwater table. Mr. Chetan said that the RRR scheme envisaged revival plans for minor water bodies by enhancing their water-holding capacity. Sri Sathya Sai district has 1,186 water bodies under the minor and major irrigation tanks, which cater to 83,486 acres of area. The Collector asked the officials to promptly send proposals identifying tanks that were in urgent requirement of repairs, and funds allocation. 'The RRR scheme follows a 60:40 ratio, with the Central government contributing 60 per cent and the State government coming up with 40 per cent share of the expenditures,' Mr. Chetan said. Meanwhile, the Collector checked the reports pertaining to the first phase of works, which included the restoration of 239 tanks. He called for better coordination among departments for effective utilisation of resources and expedition of works.

Laura Hamilton, 43, displays her incredible figure as she poses poolside while soaking in the sun at an upscale Dubai resort
Laura Hamilton flaunted her incredible figure in a slew of pictures on Instagram as she soaked in the sun on a plush getaway in Dubai. The A Place In The Sun host, 43, slipped into a skimpy white swimsuit for the compilation of photos which showed her posing up a storm poolside on Wednesday. For the first of the sizzling snaps at Dubai's Azure Beach Club, Laura was pictured from behind as she perched by the side of the pool with just her feet in the water. Wearing a pair of stylish brown sunglasses, she then turned around and cracked a smile for the camera while letting her blonde locks flow. Laura looked as sensational as ever for the photos as she caught a tan while soaking in the Middle Eastern sunshine. She later slipped into a pair of loose trousers over the swimsuit before again posing for snaps which showed off her ample cleavage and jaw-dropping figure. The A Place In The Sun host flaunted her incredible figure from both in-front and behind while donning a skimpy white swimsuit The presenter seemed in good spirits as she enjoyed a trip away for work, captioning the post: 'In just under 7 hours I travelled to Dubai for meetings, filming and a bit of time by the pool...' Laura's latest post on Instagram comes after she opened up about the struggles she endured during the renovation of her dream home in Spain, which she bought back in August. The property expert, who has been the host of A Place In The Sun since 2012, has spent the proceeding nine months renovating the six-bedroom home into a four bed abode with a courtyard garden. Laura, however, admitted it has all cost a little more than she expected. In an interview with The Sun, she said: 'You need a lot of patience because you have to follow the rules and regulations. She continued: 'You need to do a lot of research before doing a project overseas. What I will say is like any property you buy, you should get a survey. 'Something else that I would say is to get the right mortgage. There are some amazing mortgages available out there.' Laura said that due to her three per cent mortgage which is fixed for 25 years, she didn't have to 'sink all my money' into the project. The presenter also urged anyone thinking of buying a house abroad to 'do it now' as she regrets not doing it sooner. Laura ended up knocking down most of the house in order to create her dream 'plunge pool' as a centre piece to the holiday house. Taking to Instagram at the end of November, she posted an update for her fans, writing: 'LOOK HOW FAR I'VE COME... 'Back in August I purchased a holiday home in Mallorca. But of course me being me, it had to be a 'renovation project'. It's a massive undertaking and I am loving the process and of course the transformation. 'I decided not to post lots about my renovation on this page as I know not everyone is interested so I decided to create a separate page with more content on the project over on @myrenovationinthesun.' Laura shared how it was tough to gut the house as it is on a small lane in the middle of the town - and it took a team of eight people three days to empty everything.
