KC mother shot in the mouth, father shot twice with kids in the car
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City mother was shot in the face Monday while sitting in the car with her kids outside East Hills Village Apartments in the 7600 block of Monroe Avenue . Her boyfriend was also shot outside the car. Kay Wright and her boyfriend were about to head out to do some Door Dash deliveries before the lunch hour Monday at 10:40 a.m. Their car needs coolant so her boyfriend was under the hood filling it as she got her children ages one and four in the car and sat down in the passenger seat. They shot a bullet in back and went over my daughter's head and hit me in the mouth right here. And then the bullets just kept flying,' Wright said. Doorbell camera video shared with FOX4 captured one shot, followed by a short pause and thenthen at least two more shots. Wright's boyfriend was shot in the arm and foot. He jumped in the driver seat and they rushed to Research Medical Center with the hood still up on the car. 'As soon as we got to the door I started screaming I'm shot, my boyfriend is shot, my kids are in the car,' Wright said. Wright says police were given that video and told where to find the shooters. She said she's never spoken to the people she believes targeted them. 'They almost took our life for no reason,' she said. Now out of intensive care and with her boyfriend recovering well, the 28-year-old mother is thankful the bullets missed her children. Kansas City drivers dodge objects tossed out of moving car on highway 'I'm so happy that they are alive because nobody should have to go through nothing like that, especially when you don't do nothing to nobody,' Wright said. The couple has five children altogether. But once she leaves the hospital, she says she's not sure where she'll go this Mother's Day weekend because she doesn't feel safe returning to the apartment with no arrests made. 'We aren't going to have no place to go, nobody is trying to help us. Nobody is trying to help us see justice,' Wright said. Kansas City Police say the investigation is ongoing. Kansas City man charged in connection to deadly road rage shooting
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 21-year-old Kansas City, Missouri man is facing charges in connection to a . Jackson County prosecutors this week charged Isaiah Francis with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Two-year-old girl overdoses after ingesting methamphetamine, police say According to court documents, Kansas City police officers responded to the area of 75th Street and The Paseo around 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, for a shooting. When officers arrived on scene they located a man in the driver's eat of a green GMC Sierra. The victim was slumped over and was unresponsive. Officers located an apparent gunshot wound on the victim, identified as 66-year-old Dennis Griffin. He was taken to Research Medical Center where he later died. A witness told detective she was driving south on Swope Parkway when she saw the suspect vehicle speed around her. She said the suspect vehicle stood out to her due to the speed and aggressive way the suspect was driving through traffic. Court documents say the witness 'observed the victim vehicle and suspect to be engaged in road rage.' The witness said the road rage was so noticeable that she kept a safe distance away. She said as the two vehicle approached the intersection of 75th and Paseo, the victim intentionally cut off the suspect's vehicle. According to court documents, the witness said the suspect then drove up to the passenger side of the victim's vehicle and fired 4-5 shots into the truck. The suspect continued traveling south on Paseo and the witness pulled over and called 911. Independence man dies after crash in Lafayette County
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 67-year-old man from Independence, Missouri was killed on Sunday morning after a single-vehicle crash in Lafayette County. He was driving westbound on I-70 in 1997 Chevrolet 1500 before going off the right side of the road.
