258 Expats Detained in Kuwait for Residency and Labor Violations
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: The Ministry of Interior announced that 258 individuals were arrested during a large-scale security campaign targeting violators of residency and labor laws across all governorates of the country. The operation was carried out by the General Department of Residency Affairs Investigations, under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, and the direct supervision of Brigadier General Fawaz Al-Roumi, Head of the Nationality and Residency Sector. According to the ministry, those apprehended included absconding workers, individuals with expired residency permits and visas, as well as persons wanted in various cases. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing violators of residency and labor regulations, monitoring illegal workers, and addressing practices that undermine security and public order. The ministry further emphasized that accountability measures will extend to both workers and employers, with no leniency shown, in strict implementation of the Residency and Labor Law.

Runaway domestics, sheep-herders caught working
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), in coordination with the Residence Affairs Investigations Department, carried out a joint field inspection targeting a project affiliated with the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) in Mutlaa Residential City. The authority explained that the inspection, conducted under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, focused on the completion and maintenance of services, infrastructure, and public buildings in the Dahiya Center, implemented by a general trading and contracting company. The campaign resulted in the arrest of 36 workers found in violation of the Residency and Labor Law, including 15 domestic workers and 21 sheep farmers. PAM confirmed that all violators were referred to the Residence Affairs Investigations Department for necessary legal action. It affirmed the continuation of inspection campaigns in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure a legal, safe, and organized work environment at all sites and projects. PAM renewed its call to employers to fully comply with applicable laws and regulations and to refrain from employing illegal workers, stressing that inspection teams will continue their efforts to detect violations and take necessary action with firmness.

440 Residence and Labor Law Violators Arrested in Kuwait
KUWAIT CITY, May 12: As part of ongoing security efforts to apprehend Residency and Labor Law violators, the General Department of Residency Affairs Investigations conducted intensive security campaigns across all governorates. These operations, carried out in cooperation with the relevant authorities, took place between April 30 and May 9, 2025. 440 individuals were arrested for violating Residency and Labor regulations during the campaign. These efforts are part of a comprehensive security strategy aimed at identifying illegal workers, monitoring the status of undocumented residents, curbing residency-related violations, and enforcing the laws and regulations governing employment and residency in the country. Legal action has been initiated against the arrested individuals, who have been referred to the appropriate authorities for further proceedings. The Ministry of Interior emphasized that such security campaigns are ongoing throughout all regions of Kuwait. It reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the law and stated that accountability will apply equally to workers and employers found in violation, without exception.

Security Sweep in Salmiya Nets 23 Residency Law Offenders
KUWAIT CITY, May 5: The General Department of Residence Affairs Investigations has arrested 23 individuals for violating Kuwait's Residency and Labor Law during a crackdown on illegal gatherings in the Salmiya area, the Ministry of Interior announced. The arrests come as part of ongoing nationwide security operations targeting residency and labor law violators across all governorates. The ministry stated that the operation was launched in response to complaints circulated on social media regarding the presence of unlicensed workers congregating in Salmiya. Acting swiftly, the Violators Arrest Department in Hawalli Governorate was dispatched to the site, resulting in the detention of 23 individuals. Of those apprehended, 19 held Article 20 residency permits designated for domestic workers, while four were found to be in violation under Article 18, which covers private sector employment. The ministry confirmed that all necessary legal procedures have been initiated, and the cases will be referred to the competent authorities for further action. Reaffirming its commitment to uphold the law, the Ministry of Interior emphasized that it will continue to pursue violations rigorously, with accountability extending to both workers and employers found in breach of residency or labor regulations.
