BIS Bengaluru hosts residential training for standards club mentors
BENGALURU: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Bengaluru Branch Office, conducted a two-day Residential Reinforcement Training Programme for mentors on June 27 and 28. The event brought together 56 mentors from BIS Standards Clubs across Karnataka, aiming to strengthen their understanding of BIS initiatives and promote standards-based education.
The programme featured insightful sessions led by senior BIS officials. Narender Reddy Beesu, Director of BIS-Bengaluru, emphasised the critical role of quality standards in everyday life. Premalata Sinha, Joint Director, presented an overview of BIS's core functions, including standardization, certification, testing, training, and educational outreach.
A key highlight of the training was an in-depth exploration of the Learning Science via Standards (LSvS) module—an innovative BIS initiative that connects scientific concepts with practical applications through standards. This module is designed to make science education more engaging and relevant for students by demonstrating the real-world impact of standards. The module was delivered through practical and interactive sessions led by Resource Support Team members Senthilkumar Radhakrishnan, Mohan Kumar and Premakumari.
