Apple's Foundation Sets Season 3 Release Date After 2-Year Hiatus — Plus, Watch a New Teaser
After nearly two years off the air and a number of behind-the-scenes snags, Foundation will be back at last this summer. The sci-fi epic will return to Apple TV+ for its third season on Friday, July 11, the streamer announced Wednesday. The 10-episode season will roll out weekly on Fridays through Sept. 12; you can watch a teaser for the new installments above. More from TVLine The Office Spinoff Gets Official Title and Premiere Month at Peacock - Plus, Oscar Returns in First Photo! Owen Wilson Stars in Apple TV+ Golf Comedy Stick - Watch Trailer, Get Premiere Date Save the Dates: Acapulco's Final Season, Love Island USA's Return and More Foundation, which last dropped a fresh episode back in September 2023, follows a band of exiles on their journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire. According to the official synopsis, Season 3 picks up 152 years after the events of the sophomore finale, and The Foundation has become 'increasingly established' while the Cleonic Dynasty's Empire has dwindled. 'As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the fearsome form of a warlord known as The Mule (now played by Game of Thrones alum Pilou Asbæk), whose sights are set on ruling the universe by use of physical and military force, as well as mind control,' the logline continues. 'It's anyone's guess who will win, who will lose, who will live and who will die as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons and Demerzel play a potentially deadly game of intergalactic chess.' Foundation initially scored a Season 3 renewal at Apple less than three months after Season 2 ended, but the series hit several roadblocks during Season 3 production. Filming was first paused due to the dual Hollywood strikes in 2023, then was delayed a second time due to 'issues with budgeting and physical production,' per our sister site Deadline. Additionally, series co-creator David S. Goyer stepped back from his duties as showrunner during the hiatus, with executive producer Bill Bost overseeing production instead; Goyer remained creatively involved, though, exec-producing Season 3 and contributing scripts. James Turrell Comes Full Circle in Upcoming Seoul Show
Summary A newJames Turrellexhibition is set to hit Pace Galleryin Seoul next month, marking the artist's first return to the Korean capital in 17 years. TitledThe Return, the show features five recent installations — including a never-before-seenWedgeworkpiece — by the Light and Space luminary, transforming the tea house and all three floors of the galleries into dreamlike illusions. Like others in the series, Turrell's latestWedgeworkpresents a choreographed play of color, shadow and light. Light takes on a 'thingness' in a low lit room, as soft gradients create the illusion of depth and space. The piece grounds itself in the sensorial, challenging conventions of materiality through a deceptive 'nature of reality as mediated by light.' Also on display are two large curved glass pieces, along with circular and diamond-shaped installations from the artist's ongoingGlassworkseries. These works create the sensation of endless depth through shifting planes of light, drawing viewers into seemingly infinite luminous spaces. Complementing the light-based works are photographs and works on paper that offer rare insight into the creative process behind Turrell's infamousRoden Craterproject. On view from June 14 through September 27,The Returntakes part in Pace's 65th anniversary year programming. To celebrate the gallery is mounting exhibitions around the world from an impressive roster of artists they've shown throughout the years. Come back to M'sian melodies with Straw Lim's soulful ‘Pulang'
Singer-songwriter Straw Lim is known for her songs which blend soulful melodies with reflective lyrics. (Straw Lim pic) PETALING JAYA : In 2019, local indie singer-songwriter Straw Lim released her debut album, 'Excursion'. This soulful collection of melodies drew on her experiences backpacking in over 50 countries, only to realise that ultimately, Malaysia was where she belonged. It is fitting, therefore, that her follow-up album is titled 'Pulang' ('Return'). This new collection of songs explores the themes of identity, home and belonging, as Lim contemplates a question she has long been fascinated with: what does it mean to be Malaysian? 'Pulang' contains 10 highly personal songs, each sporting a unique sound of their own. 'Initially, I was wondering: what was the one common Malaysian sound that could unite us? But in the end, I realised how diverse we are, how good we are at fusion, at 'rojak'. 'So all the songs sound quite different, but ultimately there is one thing that ties everything together: the Malaysian spirit,' Lim told FMT Lifestyle. Born in Kuala Lumpur, this alternative folk singer is now based in Kota Kinabalu, and performs in five languages: Bajau, English, Hinghwa, Malay and Mandarin. She has toured in Malaysia, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong, and been featured in many events: Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival, Klang River Festival, City Roars Festival, and more. A promo photo from Lim's single 'Home', a song about identity and belonging. (Straw Lim pic) Lim will be performing at 'Marilah Pulang', an album showcase, at PJPAC One Utama next week. The showcase is presented by Playspace and RMP Productions, and features Melina William as music director, with guest appearances from Brendan De Cruz, Fikri Fadzil (aka Bayangan) and Suara Terpenjara. The event is supported by the Ministry of Communications and MyCreative Ventures. Audiences can look forward to a spirited performance from an ensemble of musicians from diverse cultural and musical backgrounds, with an eclectic collection of musical instruments, including the rebana, seruling, sundatang, trombone, cello, guitar, and more, all on show. Accompanying Lim's music will be immersive visuals from Filamen and contemporary Chinese dance choreography by Marrow Collective. Lim is highly excited about 'Marilah Pulang': every detail of this performance is infused with personal meaning for her. Even her stage outfit, which she designed and sewed by hand, will contribute to the show's overall narrative. 'My clothes evolve throughout the show, with me putting on and removing certain parts, reflecting how I learn and unlearn certain lessons throughout my journey of learning to belong,' Lim said. (Chan Kien Ming & leggoshoot pic) 'The making of this album has been such a journey, and I am very thankful that it's now come to life. Working with so many amazing and talented people has been so rewarding,' she added. Her latest album's first single is 'Home', a nostalgic melody which won the Best Overall Production and Creative Excellence Awards at the Short + Sweet Malaysia: Song Competition in 2024. Look out for 'Hourglass', Lim's lament about the increasing problem of brain drain. Another highlight of the album is 'Air': this stirring song touches on the plight of invisible communities in the nation, and features Bajau lyrics co-written and performed by a group of children from a marginalised community in Sabah. 'Bubble', a song in Hinghwa, is introspective. It's about realising how one has been living in a safe, familiar world, and learning how to step out and grow without forgetting where one comes from. 'The Hinghwa dialect is not spoken that much in Malaysia nowadays. So I had to find people to help me translate the lyrics. But speaking it helps me feel closer to my father and my grandparents, who have both passed away. I wanted to add their language into my song in memory of them,' Lim said. Overall, Lim hopes her album and showcase will resonate with anyone who loves and cares about the country, and encourage people to come together. 'It sometimes feels like we're all so segregated nowadays. But I hope to create something that we can all enjoy together,' Lim concluded. 'Change is always difficult and takes time. But I believe that sometimes, music and art can open doors to empathy and understanding, when words and conversations fall short.' Event: 'Marilah Pulang' Venue: Nero Event Space, PJPAC, 1 Utama E, Petaling Jaya Date/Time: May 24 at 8.30pm; May 25 at 3pm Tickets to 'Marilah Pulang' can be purchased via Onetix. Derelict site in Mayo village ‘an accident waiting to happen'
Dean Kenny, PRO of Belcarra Community Council, called for Mayo County Council to act on a property which has lain vacant in the heart of the village for many years. The privately owned building was formerly the location of Heneghan's shop, which closed several years ago. The site, which has been on Mayo County Council's derelict sites register since 2020, is valued at €160,000 and is currently subject to the derelict sites levy equivalent to 7pc of the market value of the land concerned. Addressing the recent meeting of Castlebar Municipal District in Belcarra Community Centre, Mr Kenny said that the property owner had made no effort to improve the safety or condition of the building. Mr Kenny said the site was 'the only thing' stopping the development of the village. The building in question is located near the new playground which opened in the village in 2024. 'With more kids around the village and more people making use of our facilities, it's an accident waiting to happen,' said Mr Kenny. The meeting also heard calls for local public realm works, including enhanced footpaths and road markings in the village. Local representatives called for action to be taken to address dereliction in Belcarra and in Mayo as a whole. Cllr Donna Sheridan, Cathaoirleach of Castlebar Municipal District, called for the situation to be addressed 'as a matter of urgency'. 'It's bringing down the village,' said the Fine Gael councillor. 'It's not fair, with all the work you do, and for that to be left like that…it's a disgrace at this stage. Something needs to be done.' ADVERTISEMENT Learn more David Mellett, Head of Castlebar Municipal District, said Mayo County Council would continue to work with community activists regarding public realm works in the area. Tributes were paid to the work local people had undertaken in developing the various facilities around Belcarra, which include a new handball alley, a playground and community pitch. The meeting also heard tributes to long-time community activist Breege Canavan, who is due to return home to Belcarra after suffering a severe stroke in 2023. The community have raised over €80,000 to assist the Canavan family in adapting Ms Canavan's home to suit her needs. A benefit dance in support of Breege Canavan will be held in the Breaffy House Hotel in Breaffy on July 4. Donations towards Support Breege Canavan's Return Home can be made at:
