Foundation, which last dropped a fresh episode back in September 2023, follows a band of exiles on their journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire. According to the official synopsis, Season 3 picks up 152 years after the events of the sophomore finale, and The Foundation has become 'increasingly established' while the Cleonic Dynasty's Empire has dwindled.
'As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the fearsome form of a warlord known as The Mule (now played by Game of Thrones alum Pilou Asbæk), whose sights are set on ruling the universe by use of physical and military force, as well as mind control,' the logline continues. 'It's anyone's guess who will win, who will lose, who will live and who will die as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons and Demerzel play a potentially deadly game of intergalactic chess.'
Foundation initially scored a Season 3 renewal at Apple less than three months after Season 2 ended, but the series hit several roadblocks during Season 3 production. Filming was first paused due to the dual Hollywood strikes in 2023, then was delayed a second time due to 'issues with budgeting and physical production,' per our sister site Deadline. Additionally, series co-creator David S. Goyer stepped back from his duties as showrunner during the hiatus, with executive producer Bill Bost overseeing production instead; Goyer remained creatively involved, though, exec-producing Season 3 and contributing scripts.

Ryan Coogler Confirms Denzel Washington Has a Part in 'Black Panther 3'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Back in March, "Sinners" director Ryan Coogler reacted to Denzel Washington's public statements about appearing in "Black Panther 3" and while it was something Coogler seemed excited about, he stopped just shy of confirming it. Now, Coogler has confirmed not only that he has talked to Washington about showing up in "Black Panther 3", but that he has written a role specifically for the two-time Oscar-winning star. Read More: James Gunn Wants Peacemaker to Fight Batman Appearing on "7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony", Coogler was asked if there had been conversations with Washington or if he was writing a role specifically for the actor. Coogler's answer: "All of that. All of the above, bro." Denzel Washington poses at the opening night after party for "Othello" on Broadway at Tavern on The Green on March 23, 2025 in New York City. Denzel Washington poses at the opening night after party for "Othello" on Broadway at Tavern on The Green on March 23, 2025 in New York City. Bruce Glikas/WireImage He went on to praise Washington, saying, "I think he's the greatest living actor. And in terms of what he means to our culture, forget about it. I've been talking to him about this for a long time." Coogler's confirmation that he's written a part for Washington shouldn't be too much of a surprise. Back in March, Coogler said "Yeah, I've been dying to work with Denzel, man, and I'm hoping we can make that happen." "I have every intention of working with him in ['Black Panther 3']. As long as he itches to do it, it's gonna happen. You know, he's a living legend and a great mentor for so many of us. He's all about looking out for us now." As far as who exactly Denzel Washington would play in "Black Panther 3", Coogler is keeping that to himself. That hasn't stopped fans from speculating, of course, with some even guessing his character might be from another part of Marvel's multiverse and could be a variant of T'Challa's father T'Chaka, or perhaps even T'Challa himself. One popular fan-casting is the villain Achebe, who was created as a kind of eccentric mix between Kaiser Soze of "The Usual Suspects" fame and the Joker. Not possessed of any special abilities, Achebe instead manipulates his ways into political power in Wakanda. Very little is known about "Black Panther 3" including whether or not it has a firm release date. Letitia Wright is expected to reprise the role of Shuri for the film, potentially appearing alongside Denzel Washington. Hoda Kotb reveals who she wants to replace her on 'Today' fourth hour
Hoda Kotb reveals who she wants to replace her on 'Today' fourth hour Show Caption Hide Caption Watch Hoda Kotb's 'Today' announcement, Jenna Bush Hager's response Hoda Kotb revealed that she's leaving the "Today" show in early 2025. Later in the morning, Jenna Bush Hager reacted on set. Hoda Kotb is revealing who she thinks should replace her on the fourth hour of the "Today" show. The former "Hoda and Jenna" cohost left the NBC morning franchise's main anchor desk and fourth hour in January to launch new wellness venture Joy 101, but she still has opinions to offer about who should sit next to Jenna Bush Hager. Kotb told "Watch What Happens Live" host Andy Cohen that "anybody would be so lucky, but to me, the contenders are Savannah, I think she would be great; I think Justin Sylvester is amazing" in reference to the E! News host and frequent "Today" fourth hour guest. Hoda Kotb returns to host 'Today' with Jenna Bush Hager: What to know "Scarlett Johansson crushed it, she said it was her favorite job," Kotb added, although she and Cohen agreed that the Oscar winner is unlikely to join the show full-time. The mom of two continued by saying that "Las Culturistas" comedian "Matt Rogers is great" and "also our dear friend Sheinelle Jones, who is going through a horrible time, but I think she would be good." However, Kotb insisted that "I feel like it's whoever clicks great with Jenna." The NBC morning show's loyal fans have floated Jones as a replacement, but the third hour star has been absent for months during the health battle of her late husband, Uche Ojeh. On May 23, "Today" show anchors announced on air that Ojeh died from an aggressive form of brain cancer at 45. "With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our friend and 'Today' co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma," Savannah Guthrie said on the "Today" show.
