India's Adani Green says independent review on US indictment found no irregularities

REUTERS/Amit Dave Purchase Licensing Rights, opens new tab April 28 (Reuters) - India's Adani Green ( opens new tab on Monday said that its independent review of the U.S. indictment of founder Gautam Adani and top Adani Green executives, who were accused of paying $265 million in bribes for power contracts, did not identify any non-compliance or irregularities. In November, U.S. authorities indicted Gautam Adani, his nephew and Executive Director Sagar Adani and Managing Director Vneet S. Jaain, alleging that they paid bribes to secure Indian power supply contracts and misled U.S. investors during fund raises. The company appointed independent law firms in January to review the U.S. indictment. Based on this review, the management of the holding company concluded that it, along with its subsidiaries, complied with applicable laws and regulations, Adani Green said in an exchange filing. The company added it does not expect the U.S. proceedings to have material consequences for the group. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission asked Indian authorities for assistance in February with its investigation. Meanwhile, the company reappointed Vneet Jaain as its managing director for another five years, effective July 10, despite the U.S. indictment. Throughout his 15-year tenure, Jaain has been "spearheaded on group's strategy for its energy and infrastructure business and has been instrumental in growing various businesses from conceptualisation to operation," Adani Green said in a statement. Hagel received a five-minute interference penalty after laying out Barkov away from the puck at the 9:51 mark of the third period on Thursday night in Tampa. Barkov did not return to the game. The visiting Panthers collected a 2-0 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference first-round playoff series. Florida led 1-0 at the time of Hagel's penalty and added an empty-netter by Sam Bennett in the final seconds. Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday afternoon as the series shifts to Sunrise, Fla. Senior Russian military officer killed in car explosion near Moscow
MOSCOW, April 25 (Reuters) - A senior Russian military officer was killed when a car exploded on Friday in the town of Balashikha just east of Moscow, Russia's Investigative Committee said. It named the officer as Yaroslav Moskalik, deputy head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, and said it had opened a criminal case into the incident. here. "According to available data, the explosion occurred as a result of the detonation of a homemade explosive device filled with destructive elements," the Investigative Committee said in a statement. The statement did not say who might be behind the incident. Several high-ranking Russian military figures have been assassinated since the start of the war in Ukraine in operations blamed by Moscow on Kyiv. Russian media outlet Baza, which has sources in Russia's law enforcement agencies, said a bomb in a parked car had been detonated remotely when the officer - who lived locally - walked past. The Izvestia newspaper published video footage showing a person approaching a line of parked cars outside an apartment complex and an explosion that sent parts of a vehicle flying metres into the air. Kommersant newspaper said a second person was also killed. Moskalik, who held the rank of major general, had participated in several high-level Russian delegations, according to defence ministry bulletins and media reports. He joined the Russian contingent in a meeting in October 2015 of the Normandy Format, a group made up of teams from Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France who oversaw the Minsk agreements designed to end the war between Ukraine and Russian-backed separatist forces that broke out in 2014. Moskalik represented the army's General Staff at the negotiations alongside Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, according to the Kremlin website. Russia's RBC newspaper listed Moskalik as a participant in the security subgroup in the Minsk talks. In December, Ukraine's SBU intelligence service used a bomb hidden in an electric scooter to kill Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, whom Kyiv accused of being responsible for the use of chemical weapons against Ukrainian troops. The SBU did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the reported death of Moskalik. Panthers' Jesse Puljujarvi suspended 2 games for headshot
April 17 - Florida Panthers forward Jesse Puljujarvi received a two-game suspension Thursday for an illegal check to the head of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Mitchell Chaffee. Puljujarvi had a disciplinary hearing with the NHL on Thursday after being assessed a match penalty in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Lightning. His hit on Chaffee came with 11:32 remaining in the third period. Chaffee took the puck in the offensive zone before being blindsided with a shoulder to the head by Puljujarvi. Chaffee crumpled to the ice as a scrum ensued between the teams. With the Panthers' regular season over, Puljujarvi's suspension will cover the first two games of Florida's playoff series with the Lightning. Game 1 is Tuesday and Game 2 is next Thursday, both in Tampa, Fla. Puljujarvi, 26, was playing in just his fifth game with Florida after joining the team's AHL club on a professional tryout in February. He played in 26 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins before having his contract terminated. He has 10 points (four goals, six assists) on the season in 31 games.
