Israel slams 'fake' reporting of attack near aid distribution centre in Gaza
Amidst the ongoing face-off in Gaza, a humanitarian aid distribution centre in Southern Gaza's Rafah came under fire on Sunday, resulting in the death of more than 30 Palestinians. Gaza was quick to pin blame on Israel for 'killing innocents' but the latter dismissed the claims as plain lies and also accused Hamas of colluding with major news portals like Al Jazeera and BBC to fan a fake propaganda. Hamas accused Israeli forces of committing a 'new massacre' against hungry civilians in the name of humanitarian aid, however, Israel dismissed the claims of Israeli tanks hitting the civilians as '100 per cent fake'. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which supervises humanitarian efforts in the war-torn region, also dismissed the reports of mass killings at its aid distribution centre as 'untrue and fabricated' and said that rumours were actively fomented for disturbing and derailing its efforts. Israel Ambassador to India Reuven Azar took to X to call out Hamas' desperate attempts to discredit GHF's humanitarian efforts by making false claims and accused the news publications of 'promoting unsubstantiated claims'. 'Hamas, together with its accomplices Al Jazeera and BBC World, are spreading yet another blood libel in order to undermine true humanitarian efforts in Gaza,' he wrote in a post on X. The GHF, backed by the United States and Israel, said that there was a concerted and coordinated campaign by some media outlets to promote falsehoods and misinformation. 'Major news outlets that are relying on unverified and unsubstantiated reports,' the GHF said in an official statement. 'We are observing coordinated efforts every day that instigate false narratives and distort media coverage around the operations of our distribution sites. Unfortunately, some media outlets are reporting on these falsehoods and misinformation without verifying the validity of the reports,' it added. Setting records straight on aid distribution in war-affected zones, the GHF said, 'Over 4.7 million meals have been distributed in six days' and added that operations will continue scaling, with plans to build additional sites across Gaza, including in the northern region. GHF interim executive director John Acree also shed light on the challenges faced by the team providing humanitarian relief. 'For every truck we successfully bring into our network, other humanitarian groups are being looted before reaching those in need. Despite these conditions, our team is managing massive, desperate crowds without a single casualty,' he pointed out. Notably, Al Jazeera, in its article titled 'Israel kills 32 Palestinians waiting for food at US-backed Gaza aid sites', reported that Israeli tanks opened fire at people lined up at the humanitarian aid distribution site, operated by Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), while BBC also reported about mass deaths.

Celebrating friendship and resilience: Israel's 77th Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi
The 77th Independence Day of Israel was marked with a vibrant celebration in the Capital, though the evening's conversations were largely dominated by the ongoing Operation Sindoor and India's commendable handling of the situation. Addressing the gathering, Israel's ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, spoke with emotion and pride: 'Today we celebrate the 77th year of the miracle called the State of Israel. Why is Israel a miracle? Because, unlike any other nation, the Jewish people returned to their ancestral and indigenous homeland after over 100 generations of exile and reestablished our sovereign state. Israel is a miracle because it has survived countless attempts to eradicate it, generation after generation. Not only does Israel survive, it thrives — despite all security challenges, we have built a developed economy and a democratic, free society.' He added, 'Israel is a miracle because, despite the traumas we have endured — including the atrocious and devastating terrorist attack on October 7 — we are still one of the happiest nations in the world, ranked number eight in the World Happiness Report.' Highlighting the bond between the two nations, Ambassador Azar said, 'Israel and India share something profound: we sanctify life. No death toll will ever defeat us. We cherish life, we work hard to improve it, and we aim to make a difference in the world. Above all, we share a quest for peace.' The chief guest of the evening, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, reflected on the significance of the occasion: 'This is not merely a celebration, but an opportunity to remember the struggles, sacrifices, and unwavering resolve of the Jewish community. The relationship between India and Israel has stood the test of time. It is built on a foundation of mutual trust, shared democratic values, and a common vision for progress and prosperity.' He also added, "The action taken by our armed forces two days ago under Operation Sindoor is a reflection of our policy against terrorism. India believes in unity in diversity and peaceful coexistence. We will take every possible step to ensure the safety of our citizens and to deliver justice to the victims."

Social media users say India is following ‘Israeli playbook' in Pakistan
Social media users have likened India's retaliatory strikes on Pakistan to the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip, saying that New Delhi is following an 'Israeli playbook' in its response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians, mostly tourists. Two weeks after India accused Pakistan of harboring terrorists and being involved in the attack on April 22, the Indian army on Wednesday launched a series of precision strikes on what it called 'terrorist infrastructure' in Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir. Following the strikes, Israel's ambassador to India supported New Delhi's right to defend itself against terrorism, a narrative that Israel has often invoked since its bombardment of Gaza began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas killed about 1,200 people in southern Israel and took some 251 hostages, according to Israeli tallies. Since then, Israeli strikes have killed more than 51,300 Palestinians, according to Gaza health authorities. 'Israel supports India's right for self-defense. Terrorists should know there's no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent,' Ambassador Reuven Azar posted on X. Several social media users condemned India's strikes on Pakistan, given that they were conducted before officially investigating the Pahalgam attack. Many suggested India was emboldened by Israel's bombardment of Gaza and the perceived impunity it has received from other world actors. A day after the attack on tourists in Indian Kashmir, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had offered his condolences to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that 'Israel stands with India in its fight against terrorism' in a post on X. India accuses Pakistan-based terrorist organizations, including Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen, for the Pahalgam terror attack. However, Pakistan denies any involvement in the attack and has vowed to retaliate against the missile strikes, and said it shot down five Indian aircraft. The Indian embassy in Beijing termed reports of fighter jets being shot down as 'misinformation.' Ties between India and Israel have recently strengthened after Modi became the first Indian leader to visit the country in 2017.
