Texas A&M's Collie Mascot Reveille X Has Eye Removed After Glaucoma Diagnosis

Reveille X, Texas A&M's border collie mascot, had her right eye surgically removed after veterinarians diagnosed her with glaucoma, the university's president said Wednesday. The collie — also known as the "First Lady of Aggieland" — was diagnosed with glaucoma after experiencing discomfort and cloudiness in her right eye, President Mark A Welsh III said in a message on the school's website. The veterinary team removed the eye out of an abundance of caution after discovering signs of abnormal tissue, he said. "I'm grateful to report that Miss Rev has come through the surgery successfully, has been discharged and is resting comfortably," Welsh said. Texas A&M's Reveille mascot dates back to 1931, when a group of cadets found an injured dog and sneaked her on to campus. The dog barked when buglers played morning reveille, earning her the Reveille name. Reveille X took over as the latest iteration of the mascot in 2021. A souped-up golf cart known as "Rev Force One" helps transport the collie across campus. Welsh said Reveille will take a brief hiatus from engagements as she recovers. "According to her veterinary team, we can expect Miss Rev to be back to enjoying all her favorite activities — cruising on Rev Force One, attending classes, cheering on the Aggies and keeping our campus squirrels in line — this fall," he said. BBC Line of Duty star icon announces massive career change

On Instagram, it was confirmed that Vicky had collaborated with Sheffield-based band Reverend and the Makers on the group's new single, Haircut. Sharing a clip with fans online, she wrote: "I'm no Whitney [Houston], but I love music. "Making this with Jon [McClure] and Rev was such a chilled experience. "All I hope is you enjoy it, sing and dance along." Will Line of Duty return for a seventh series? Line of Duty fans have long wondered if the popular BBC show would be returning for a seventh series. Leading men Martin Compston, who plays DI Steve Arnott and Adrian Dunbar, who plays Supt Ted, shared an update with fans, according to The Sun. When asked if the show would be returning, Martin said: 'We're always talking about possibilities and schedules and whatnot. "Everybody's got stuff going on at the minute, so I think anything, unfortunately, would be a way off." "You know, the day people stop asking about the show will be a sad day, so I'm delighted that people are still excited about it. "We'd all love to work together again at some point. We still all meet up. "I met with Jed [Mercurio, the show's creator], Adrian [Dunbar] and Vicky [McClure] in London before Christmas - we went out for dinner, to hear what everyone's up to." Recommended Reading: He added: 'It's amazing. It's the best feeling as an actor when you feel like the whole country's in the palm of your hand with what's coming next, and there's only a couple of you in the secret of who's surviving and what's going on. "But because we're all so close and we all want the best for the show, we wouldn't do it again just for the sake of it. "If it was just about doing it for the sake of it, we'd have probably done another three series by now. "We really care about the quality of it. So if we come back, it would be for the right reasons. "It won't just be: 'Get another one done.' It'll be because Jed thinks there's a story to tell."

Rev: Ithaca Startup Works Opens Applications for 2025 Protofacturing Hardware Accelerator

ITHACA, N.Y., June 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Rev: Ithaca Startup Works is opening applications for the Protofacturing Hardware Accelerator. This five-month program is built for startups that have developed a proof-of-concept prototype and are preparing for initial manufacturing runs. To be admitted, teams must have an initial prototype developed that proves the feasibility of their concept and have conducted customer discovery. Both students and professionals are welcome to join the accelerator; there are no location requirements, as all content is delivered virtually. The program has four different focus tracks for specialized program experience: The Classic Track: Open to innovators in any field, this track provides foundational training across industries. The ClimateTech Track: ClimateTech startups are placed with a like-minded cohort, matched with a clean energy mentor, and benefit from guest speakers working in the field. The AgTech Track: Agriculture technology startups will benefit from specialized training and connections with experts and potential partners working in the agriculture industry. The MedTech Track: Medical device startups receive mentorship and networking connections with experts working in the medical field. "I always tell everyone that Port Align has been scaled at a record pace because of Rev. The amount of support, knowledge, constant feedback, and learning in the program has been incredible," said Hilario Castillo, RN, Founder of Port Align, 2024 MedTech Protofacturing Hardware Accelerator. These selective tracks offer startups the opportunity to gain experience and mentorship from experts in their respective industries. With the goal of refining prototypes efficiently, participants will be given two participation options: Advising Only: This group will have access to all virtual content sessions and additional resources, including workshops, digital curriculum, and select Cornell University startup resources. Content participants will have access to business support and mentorship, as well as any technical feedback provided during scheduled Support: This group will have access to all the same resources as the content participants, along with additional engineering and development support, including access to the hardware prototyping lab. Companies admitted into this tier have products that are compatible with the skillset and shop at Rev with reasonable timelines and expectations for working with the engineering development team. Regional teams in this tier will have the choice to opt into in-person shop access & training or remote access through our development team. The Protofacturing Hardware Accelerator not only assists early-stage entrepreneurs but also stimulates the local entrepreneurial ecosystem and economy. Alumnae of the prototyping and manufacturing programs have made a profound impact, raising over $25 million in venture capital to date, with 40% of participants engaged in other entrepreneurship programs in upstate New York. Applications for the 2025 cohort are being reviewed on a rolling basis.
