Man arrested following seizure of ecstasy tablets worth €235,000 in Monaghan

A man has been arrested following the seizure of ecstasy tablets worth around €235,000 in Monaghan today. The drugs were discovered at a residence during a targeted joint operation involving members of An Garda Síochána and Revenue's Customs Service. A man aged in his 20s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at a Garda station in the northwest under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He can be questioned for up to 24 hours. The MDMA seized at the property, which has an estimated street value of €235,000, will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis, and investigations are ongoing. The joint operation involved officers from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Monaghan Divisional Drugs Unit, and Revenue's Customs Service. A spokesperson for Revenue said the intelligence-led operation was part of the agency's ongoing efforts in the area. "The seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity," they said. "If businesses or members of the public have any information, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295." A Garda spokesperson said investigations were continuing following today's seizure. "In the course of a joint operation conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Monaghan Divisional Drugs Unit and Revenue officers, a residential property in Monaghan was searched today, 25th July 2025," they said. "MDMA tablets with an estimated street value of €235,000 (pending analysis) were seized. "A male in his 20s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at a station in the Garda North Western Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984," they confirmed. Gardaí seize €1.6m worth of cannabis in Co. Wexford

GARDAÍ and the Revenue's Customs Service have seized herbal cannabis worth €1.6m during a targeted joint operation in Co. Wexford. The 80kg of cannabis was discovered after gardaí intercepted and searched a van in Ballycarney on Friday. A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at a garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. Gardaí added that the man may be held for a period of up to seven days and that investigations are ongoing.

GARDAI have seized an estimated €35million worth of cocaine in a major operation in Cork. Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, are in custody after officers from the It's understood the Gardai say the joint task force op - which includes Revenue's Customs Service, the Irish Naval Service, local gardai and the Irish Air Corps - remains ongoing and live. It is expected that further arrests will be made as part of the major investigation. The two men in custody are understood to be from the UK and Germany. A garda spokesman said: "A Joint task Force Drugs Interdiction operation is ongoing at this time in "This morning Gardai from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau stopped a van in the Courtmacsherry area of County Cork and a large quantity of suspected Cocaine has been recovered (exact quantity and value yet to be determined). "Two males (30s and 40s) have been arrested and are currently detained in a Garda Station in Co Cork under section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007. MOST READ ON THE IRISH SUN "The operation is supported by the Joint Task Force partners, Revenue's Customs Service, the Irish Naval Service, and local Gardai and the Irish Air Corps. Two arrested in Cork following significant seizure of suspected cocaine

The men are currently being detained at a Garda station in the county, following the seizure of cocaine near Courtmacsherry in West Cork. This morning, Gardaí say that members of the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau stopped a van, and recovered a 'large quantity' of suspected Cocaine. However, Gardaí say the exact quantity and value is yet to be determined. The two men are being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act. The operation is being supported by the Joint Task Force partners, Revenue's Customs Service, the Irish Naval Service, as well as local Gardaí and the Irish Air Corps. Gardaí say further updates will be available.
