Sioux City Public Schools Foundation holding do-over prom for 2020 graduates
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Five years ago, the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, ruining prom plans for the Sioux City Community School District's (SCCSD) class of 2020. Now, they're getting a second chance.
The Sioux City Public Schools Foundation announced Thursday that it will be holding a 'Rewrite the Night' event for SCCSD high school students who had their prom canceled by the coronavirus. It will be held on Saturday, June 28, at the Anthem inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

2020 alumni of East High, North High and West High will be able to attend alone or with a date. There will be a live band, dancing, a cash bar, and a photo booth, per a release.
'Prom is such a special milestone, and it's important to give the class of 2020 the celebration they missed out on,' Karen Harrison, Development Director for the Sioux City Public Schools Foundation, said in a statement. 'This night is about providing Sioux City alums with an evening of connections, fun, and memories they missed out on due to a worldwide pandemic. We are excited to give the class of 2020 an opportunity to rewrite prom.'
