Areas in Bukidnon, Davao Region flooded after continuous rains
Some areas in Bukidnon and in the Davao Region were flooded over the weekend due to the strong rains brought about by the southwest monsoon or Habagat, including a residential area in Davao del Sur where a wake had to be moved as waters reached waist-high. A river in Barangay Tacul in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur was recorded to have overflowed with the water spilling over to nearby houses, and forcing a wake to be moved in a nearby gymnasium, as reported by Rgil Relator on GMA's '24 Oras Weekend' on Sunday. Residents of Purok Bankerohan and Purok Kawayan who were trapped in their residences were also evacuated by authorities. Official figures regarding affected individuals have yet to be released. Floods were also recorded in Bukidnon, where zero visibility was reported along the Talaingod Bukidnon national highway. A road along Sitio Saladoc in Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental was likewise impassable, due to the debris caused by the rains. The state weather bureau PAGASA said the southwest monsoon or Habagat is expected to continue to bring rains over most of the country on Sunday. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA Integrated News
