Taza Park's connection to the land is a big draw for couple
Article content 'It all happened really quickly and really easily. I saw the Taza Park sign and went home and looked it up online. We loved it right away,' she says. The couple gravitated towards Brookfield Residential's Rhythm townhome project, a collection of two- and three-bedroom townhomes, some with rooftop patios and walk-out configurations and all with either two- or three-car garages. 'We just really liked the designs.' Article content The exteriors of Rhythm Townhomes blend modern farmhouse charm with clean, contemporary design. Featuring a mix of white and black Hardie board and batten, select buildings are accented with soft, natural grey brick for added texture and warmth. Bright front doors add a pop of colour, while native landscaping enhances the connection to the surrounding environment. Some models offer up to 800 sq. ft. of outdoor living space across three levels. Article content Article content The couple chose the Geranium model, a three-storey, 1,130-sq.-ft. townhome with a tandem garage, an open-concept main floor and two primary bedrooms, both with ensuites. A large deck extends from the living room, perfect for lounging and soaking up the sun, while an upstairs laundry room adds plenty of convenience. Article content 'We really love to entertain. So, the kitchen island was a big must for us, so that our guests could sit there while we're cooking and have a glass of wine,' says Zeilstra, adding that they were really attracted to the Geranium's layout. 'We really liked that it is open concept and that the kitchen is tucked behind, but the real selling point for us was the optional flex room. It gives us some wiggle room.' Article content If buyers wish, instead of a two-car tandem garage, they can choose a flex room and a one-car garage. The couple chose the flex room option, even though they have two cars, because they wanted the extra space. Article content Article content 'We're mountain people and do lots of kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing and skiing. Right now, in our apartment all of our equipment is stuffed into the laundry room or is in the trunk of our cars,' says Zeilstra. The couple is planning on decking out the garage and the flex room with hang-over hooks to accommodate all of their gear. Article content As for finishes, they haven't chosen them yet, but 'we both have the same taste,' says Zeilstra. 'We want it to be really modern with a very dopamine core — bright and colourful with lots of plants. We want to have the pick of the litter with the finishes — definitely stone counter tops.' Article content Possession is slated for spring of 2026 and the couple can't wait. Article content 'We're so close to the bike paths; we can bike to work and we're close to Stoney Trail. If we drive, our commutes will be so much faster,' says Zeilstra. And of course, a brand-new puppy — the couple is still deciding on a breed, but is thinking of a rough collie — is definitely on the agenda.
