Valle Nevado, Chile, Announces Opening Date
While the ski season in the northern hemisphere is still going strong at many resorts, Valle Nevado, Chile, is already thinking about the beginning of austral resort announced in a press release Thursday that its wintertime operations will begin on June 20, 2025, conditions permitting. Valle Nevado intends to remain open through early winter, Valle Nevado opened earlier than planned on May 31 and opened for daily operations on June 7, thanks to a round of pre-season snowfall. The latter, a product sold by the Colorado-based Mountain Capital Partners (MCP), also includes ten interconnected days at La Parva—Valle Nevado's neighboring resort—during the 2025 season in the southern claimed majority ownership of Valle Nevado in April 2023. In May 2024, MCP announced plans to purchase La Parva, solidifying the mountain conglomerate's South American foothold. In the recently shared press release, Valle Nevado's general manager, Ricardo Margulis, said prospective visitors should begin thinking about booking a ski trip to Chile now so they can 'lock in the best rates and ensure availability during peak periods.'Lodging discounts ranging from 10 to 15 percent are available for a limited time to Ikon Pass, Mountain Collective, and Power Pass holders. Children 12 and under and adults 75 and older also ski free, an initiative Valle Nevado said is part of its 'ongoing commitment to accessibility and family travel.'Events at the resort this winter include the Fun Valle Week (July 5 to July 10), the Valle Nevado Wine Week (August 12 to August 16), and Wellness Week (September 10 to September 13).Ski Portillo, another Chilean mountain resort popular amongst skiers from the northern hemisphere, has published an opening date of June 21 on its website.
