Cam Heyward Thinks T.J. Watt Deserves Big Payday from Steelers: ‘Man, That's My Brother'
Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt during a game against the New York Jets on Oct. 21, 2024. -- Ed Thompson / Steelers Now Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward weighed in on T.J. Watt's contract situation during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show on Wednesday. Heyward told WWE superstar Seth Rollins, who was filling in for Rich Eisen, that Watt deserves a big payday from the Steelers. 'Man, that's my brother,' Heyward said. 'I want that dude to get paid what he deserves. That dude is one of the most fierce and best players in our league. And he's respected throughout the league. I've had the best time being able to play with him, and I hope this year is not the last time we play together, because that dude, that's my running mate, and we create a lot of havoc together. And I just want to see that guy continue to be a Pittsburgh Steeler, and be a one-helmet guy.' Advertisement There have been rumors that Watt could be dealt by the Steelers. If there's even a slight chance of that happening, Heyward joked that he'll step in. 'I'm going up to Omar [Khan] and I'm telling him, 'That's not happening,'' Heyward joked. 'If there is even a trade that gets up there. I don't think it helps our team to trade a guy like that.' The Steelers are trying to work on an extension for All-Pro outside linebacker T.J. Watt, who is heading into the final year of his contract. However, the two sides are reportedly not very close to a deal. So what's the holdup? ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler recently shed some light on the situation. Advertisement 'Pittsburgh remains optimistic. I'm told they want to get a deal done,' Fowler said on ESPN's Get Up. 'I know there's been the trade chatter out there. Teams I've talked to don't really expect him to be moved, but this is an issue of guaranteed money as a sticking point. The structure of the deal, all those details.' Watt is currently scheduled to make just $21.05 million in salary in 2025, none of which is guaranteed. Meanwhile, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was just made the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history this offseason with a contract extension that pays him $40 million per year. That is likely the number Watt is trying to match or break, but Fowler doesn't think that is the problem. Advertisement 'Most people I talk to around the league do expect him to be the highest-paid pass rusher when he does get paid,' Fowler said. 'That doesn't seem to be an issue. It's about the other details that they haven't been able to lock in on between the team and the player.' The Steelers seem to be proceeding with caution since the 30-year-old is coming off the least-productive full season of his NFL career. However, Watt still proved to be a difference maker in 2024 while recording 11.5 sacks and a league-leading six forced fumbles. Aaron Becker contributed reporting for this story. Rich Eisen to take over ESPN Radio's noon slot: Sources
'The Rich Eisen Show' will be the new centerpiece of ESPN Radio, with its program airing nationally from noon-3 p.m. ET beginning Sept. 2, sources briefed on the move told The Athletic. In May, The Athletic reported that a strong possibility existed for Eisen's program to be a staple of ESPN Radio. It will also appear on Disney+ and ESPN+, as well as ESPN's full direct-to-consumer app that is set to debut in the fall. Advertisement The show that is currently in the noon slot, 'Joe & Q,' featuring Joe Fortenbaugh and Qiant 'Q' Myers, will be disbanded. Fortenbaugh, a sports betting guru, will focus on his TV and radio spots, while Myers will be a Monday-Friday late-night host on ESPN Radio 'GameTime.' The rest of the lead-in lineup, including its morning drive show, 'Unsportsmanlike,' hosted by Evan Cohen, Chris Canty and Michelle Smallmon, and the 10 a.m.-to-noon show 'Clinton & Friends,' centered on Clinton Yates, will remain the same. 'The Rich Eisen Show' will be on at the same time as 'The Pat McAfee Show' and will be available on ESPN, the forthcoming ESPN DTC and YouTube. Meanwhile, Stephen A. Smith is beginning a new SiriusXM program that will compete directly with Eisen. Smith remains the star of 'First Take.' The Rich Eisen Podcast Network will also be on ESPN's platforms and will include a new, yet-to-be-named podcast that will have Eisen, a former SportsCenter host from 1996-2003, interviewing colleagues from his run behind the desk.

Is Seth Rollins' Injury Legitimate or a Masterclass in Action? Exploring the Possibilities
Images via WWE: Seth Rollins At the 40th edition of Saturday Night's Main Event, Seth Rollins injured his right knee while trying to perform a lionsault from the second rope and landing awkwardly on the feet. The match got an impromptu finish with LA Knight picking up a quick victory. There were reports of the injury being legitimate, with Triple H confirming the same at the Evolution 2 post-event presser. However, there has been an interesting development on that front. WWE is being extra silent on Seth Rollins' injury update New reports have emerged from Fightful Select, which is bringing into question the legitimacy of Rollins' condition. Moreover, there has been a band of conflicting information, with some staff members being unsure of the larger narrative. For the unversed, Rollins was recently spotted moving with the help of crutches at Evolution and appeared on the Rich Eisen Show that he will be out for the near future. Apart from this, the company is allegedly being extra silent on the matter to create confusion and add spice to the former World Champion's arc leading into SummerSlam. One backstage producer even termed it as 'Machiavellian' which suggested that a complex plan is in action for 'The Visionary'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 21st Century Skills Start with Confident Communication Planet Spark Learn More Undo According to Ross Sapp, 'Producers, talent, and a number of staff are being told that Rollins' injury is legitimate, but there isn't a real solid detail on how long he could be out. Most everyone agrees that Rollins has some sort of injury, but there isn't a lot known on when he actually sustained it or if it was worked on Saturday Night's Main Event.' Is Seth Rollins Injury A WORK? WWE Talent 'Skeptical' | Scrapped SummerSlam Plans For the unversed, Wrestling Observer reported that Rollins had a legitimate injury way before SNME and needed time off anyway to deal with it. But that would not keep him out for long. As already mentioned, even WWE staff members are skeptical about the angle of this injury. Will Seth Rollins Return and Win the World Title at SummerSlam? It will be interesting to see if Rollins' injury will keep him out for a long period, or will this angle lead to something special at SummerSlam? The issue is that Rollins has had a legitimate knee injury and issues in the past. In November 2015, Rollins tore his MCL, ACL, and Meniscus during a house show match against Kane in Dublin. That incident forced 'The Architect' to miss WrestleMania 32 and also ended his first WWE title reign on a dismal note. Moreover, he even took time off after WrestleMania 40 to heal a knee injury after working on both nights of the PLE. Or if this angle is actually a scripted work, then maybe Rollins has something special for SummerSlam. Currently, CM Punk is set to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. The possible outcome could be Punk finally winning gold in WWE after 12 years and Rollins ruining his iconic moment by cashing his Money in the Bank briefcase. This could result in another 'Heist of the Century'. Either way, the promotion is tight-lipped on the matter, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks.
