ITV Racing tips: Saturday March 29

There are six meetings across the UK and Ireland on Saturday and the ITV Racing cameras are at two of the day's Flat fixtures to provide coverage of eight races and kick off the season. There are five races from the card at Doncaster (1.15-5.20pm) and three from Kempton (2.05-5.35), and our expert has selections for five races from the broadcast, which airs on ITV4 from 1.00-4.00. Looking ahead to Aintree? Take a look at these Grand National betting offers and the Grand National runners and riders guide that has everything you need to know, including an expert rating for each horse in the race. ITV Racing tips – Doncaster and Kempton, March 29 2.05 Kempton – Kamboo @ 3/1 with Betfair 2.25 Doncaster – Spycatcher @ 9/2 with Betfair 2.40 Kempton – Real Dream @ 25/1 with Betfair 3.00 Doncaster – Liberty Lane @ 9/4 with Betfair 3.35 Doncaster – Midnight Gun @ 5/1 with Betfair Odds provided by Betfair and correct at the time of writing. If you already have a Betfair account and are looking for a new bookmaker to use for this week's racing, check out our list of the best free bets. 2.05 Kempton – The Virgin Bet Queens Prize Handicap (Class 2, 2m) KAMBOO can add to his impressive all-weather record of two wins from three. The one loss came on his debut, where encouragement could still be taken from a sixth-placed finish after he was backed from 40/1 into 10/1 – always something to note with these connections. Although the Richard Hughes-trained four-year-old struggled on turf last year, he scored at Newcastle over an extended 1m 4f when sent off as favourite in a very competitive Racing League contest. At the time of writing he heads the market for this contest too. The son of Awtaad has also just been gelded, which should make him easier to handle and deliver on the line for William Buick, a notable booking in the saddle. 2.25 Doncaster – William Hill Cammidge Trophy Stakes (Listed, 6f) Trainer Karl Burke has two live chances in this race, and while stable jockey Clifford Lee has opted for Marshman, who has been well campaigned this year with two wins and a second from three starts, we are siding with SPYCATCHER. This seven-year-old contested much hotter races than this last year, running in Group 1 and Group 2 company, and taking home a Group 3 prize in France. Just behind him that day, carrying 3lb less, was James's Delight, who leads the market here at the time of writing despite being off level weights. The very capable James Doyle is booked to ride Spycatcher, who can replicate successful seasonal returns from 2021, 2022 and 2023. On his first starts in 2024 and 2020 he still placed, suggesting that he will be ready for today's contest. 2.40 Kempton – Virgin Bet Rosebery Handicap (Class 2, 1m 3f) Today's longest-priced selection is REAL DREAM who is running for the first time for his new owners and has left Sir Michael Stoute's yard for a new trainer in Ian Williams. This gelded son of Lope De Vega hasn't beaten a rival in his past two outings but the suspicion is that a return to a right-handed track (and they don't get more right-handed than Kempton) will see him replicate the success of his previous visit here. His other wins came at Doncaster and Ascot, both right-handed tracks although less pronounced than Kempton, and Williams may have found the key to this horse. 3.00 Doncaster – William Hill Doncaster Mile Stakes (Listed, 1m) LIBERTY LANE finished last season in tremendous form with two hard-fought seconds sandwiching a win in the Cambridgeshire Handicap, where he beat 30 other rivals. Although there is not a lot in it, Liberty Lane is officially the highest-rated horse in the race at 113 and it would be no surprise if there was still improvement to come and he contests Group races this year. The vibes are that he is the classiest horse in the race and given conditions are to suit, there can be no excuses if he is not involved in the finish. 3.35 Doncaster – William Hill Lincoln Handicap (Class 2, 1m) With limited seasonal form to read, and none of it on turf unless horses have raced abroad, it often pays to focus on trends in the Lincoln. Between 2014 and 2022 all eight winners were rated between 99 and 102, which narrows down this field of 22 to a field of four. In those same years the winning jockey was James Doyle and he rides MIDNIGHT GUN for trainer Hamad Al Jehani, who is backed by the wealthy Wathnan Racing outfit. This son of Kingman is well related, being a half-brother to Falmouth Stakes winner Snow Lantern who achieved a rating of 115 as a three-year-old, however he was gelded following his second-placed finish here in October and connections will be expecting that operation to unlock more progress from this 101-rated gelding.
