Repeat offender sits in backseat of patrol car only 9 days after previous drug arrest
A 29-year-old man was arrested just nine days after a previous arrest for possession of narcotics, again. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Richmond Police Department made a post on social media Tuesday night stating two individuals were arrested for possession of drugs after a traffic stop on South 14th Street. Officers found multiple illegal substances, including suspected crack cocaine, heroin, pills, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, according to the post. Tayonne Tevis, 29, was also arrested on multiple drug possession charges just nine days after a previous drug possession arrest. As previously reported on News Center 7, Tevis was arrested on May 26 for the possession of 235 grams of suspected heroin and cocaine. 'Tayonne again? Yes. He was arrested just last week (May 26) on drug dealing charges. Some folks just can't stay out of the backseat of our patrol cars,' a spokesperson for Richmond Police said in the post. This arrest was made by the Strategic and Focused Enforcement (S.A.F.E.) Unit. 'When it comes to drug enforcement, we're not backing down. Man found with over 200 grams of heroin, cocaine during traffic stop
A man was arrested after he was found in possession of 235 grams of illegal drugs. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Richmond Police Department arrested Tayonne Tevis, 29, of Richmond on Monday. Officers made the drug bust during a traffic stop, according to a post on social media. Tevis was stopped near South 13th Street and South L Street when officers found he had 235 grams of suspected heroin and cocaine. Registered sex offender arrested at area elementary school
A registered sex offender was arrested at an elementary school in Richmond, Indiana, on Thursday, according to a spokesperson from the Richmond Police Department. Mays was convicted on possession of child pornography charges in Rush County, Indiana, in 2016. Under Indiana law, people convicted of certain sex crimes, including possession of child pornography, are prohibited from 'knowingly or intentionally entering school property,' the spokesperson said. Anyone who violates this law could face a felony charge of unlawful entry of school property by a serious sex offender. The spokesperson said school resource officers arrested Mays without incident. 'There is zero room for compromise when it comes to the safety of our children. Our officers responded quickly, enforced the law, and protected the integrity of a place where kids are meant to feel safe and secure,' Richmond Police Chief Kyle Weatherly said. Wayne County Jail records show that Mays is not currently in custody. Additional information on the relationship between Mays and the juvenile was not immediately available. Second arrest made after stabbing in area neighborhood; 2 injured
Authorities arrested a second person in connection to a stabbing in a Richmond neighborhood last week, according to a spokesperson with the Richmond Police Department. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Wayne County Sheriff's deputies responded to initial reports of a stabbing in the 3500 block of W National Road around 8:30 a.m. on April 11. Investigators later determined that the stabbing took place at a house in the 200 block of South 7th Street, according to a previous News Center 7 report. The spokesperson said two people were injured and transported to Reid Health, but have since been released. 'This second arrest is the result of continued dedication and teamwork by our detectives and officers,' Richmond Police Chief Kyle Weatherly said. 'We will not tolerate acts of violence in our community, and we remain committed to pursuing justice for victims and ensuring the safety of our city.' As previously reported by News Center 7, Shane Cail, 31, was also arrested in this incident. He was booked into jail for battery with a deadly weapon charges.
