Jules revealed that Mike "never once thought he was losing this fight". The talented musician, who supported U2 and Status Quo on tour and played with Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, was first diagnosed with the blood cancer chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) more than 30 years ago, aged 36. In October 2024, Mike developed Richter's syndrome where his CLL changed into an aggressive fast-growing lymphoma. He underwent experimental treatment at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. Jules said: "Based on our very 'loose' funeral discussions, as you must remember that Michael Leslie Peters never once thought he was losing this fight, Mike was confident right to the very end that he was going to receive the full dose of Epcoritamab and then continue to a new life of maintenance. "This is why the end came as a shock." Rachel said: "It was my pleasure to make this tribute to such a popular man."

BLOOD cancer is a type of cancer that affects your blood cells. It's caused by mutations to the DNA of blood cells, causing them to start behaving abnormally. In most cases, these changes aren't due to genetic faults - they are linked to things we can't control and happen during a person's lifetime. Around 40,000 people are diagnosed with blood cancer each year in the UK, and about 280,000 people are living with blood cancer. There are different types of blood cancer, including: Leukaemia Lymphoma Myeloma Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) They each have different symptoms, treatments and prognoses. They might also notice pallor in their lips, gums, tongue or nail beds. If the inside of your lower eyelid looks pale pink or white when it's usually dark pink or red, this is a sigh that you're unusually pale. Lumps may be caused by abnormal white blood cells building up in your lymph glands and they're most likely to appear in the neck, armpit or groin. They're usually painless, although some people find they ache. If you notice any of the above symptoms, it's most likely that you don't have blood cancer - but it's still important to find out what's causing them so it's worth booking an appointment with your GP.

Mike Peters: The Alarm frontman dies aged 66 after blood cancer diagnosis
The frontman of Welsh band The Alarm, Mike Peters, has died aged 66. The rock star had been diagnosed with blood cancer and was forced to cancel a US tour last year. He had been undergoing treatment for fast-growing lymphoma at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. A spokesperson for Love Hope Strength, the cancer charity he set up with his wife, announced his death on Tuesday. Peters was first diagnosed with the blood cancer chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) more than 30 years ago, when he was 36 years old. Last year, he discovered a large swollen gland on his neck five days before he was due to fly to Chicago for a tour, news he described as having come as "a bolt out of the blue". Doctors diagnosed him with Richter's syndrome, where CLL transforms into a more aggressive high grade lymphoma. "I am still reeling from the consequences of this new and completely unforeseen diagnosis and doing my best to process what is happening," he said in a statement at the time. The Prestatyn-born singer leaves behind his wife, Jules, 58, and two sons, Dylan, 20, and Evan, 18. During his career, Peters supported U2 and Status Quo on tour and played with Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. He first rose to fame in the early 1980s with The Alarm, which had hits including 68 Guns and Strength. In 2019, he was awarded an MBE for services to cancer care. Peters composed and sang the EURO 2020 Wales song, The Red Wall Of Cymru. Ian Gwyn Hughes, from the Football of Association of Wales (FAW), said Peters was "a natural choice". "He will not only be remembered for his music but also as just a proper, genuine football fan who made a huge contribution to the culture of The Red Wall," he added.

Mike Peters dead: The Alarm frontman dies aged 66 after 30-year blood cancer battle
The Alarm frontman Mike Peters has died following a blood cancer diagnosis. It was announced by a spokesperson for the charity he co-founded with his wife that Mike has died at the age of 66, three decades on from his first cancer diagnosis. Mike had to cancel his US tour last year owing to his health, when he was diagnosed with fast-growing lymphoma. Today, it was announced that Mike had died, leaving behind his wife and two children. He had been due to fly out to the US last year - but just five days before his 50 date US tour began, he noticed a lump in his neck. Doctors were quick to check his health and he was soon diagnosed with Richter's syndrome, which is where the chronic lymphocytic leukaemia changes into a more aggressive lymphoma. Mike had his first blood cancer diagnosis over three decades ago, when he was just 36 years old. Just last year, he posted a lengthy message of support for others going through Richter's syndrome - as he shared his own positive update. He wrote back in September: "I'm writing from The Christie Hospital in Manchester where I have just been informed by Professor Adrian Bloor that, following the completion of the Clinical Trial and chemotherapy, I am now in Complete Remission. "It is momentous news, especially when considering that I was only diagnosed with the aggressive Richter's Syndrome last April and told that without treatment, I could expect to live for just 2-12 months." He went on to heap praise on his wife and two sons Dylan and Evan for their support, as he thanked those who he had worked with who had ensured he could still be up on stage and perform like he loved, and avoid the risk of infection.
