Rick Allen, who was the voice of NBC's NASCAR Cup Series coverage for over a decade, suddenly exited through the 2024 season. His departure was so sudden that NBA icon and 23XI Racing co-owner Michael Jordan was left shocked at his exit. Ex-NASCAR announcer Rick Allen has a new Panthers gig, after baffling 2024 disappearance To mark his latest gig, Allen shared the news on social media. On X, Allen shared a photo from the announcer's booth at Bank of America Stadium. "Let's go!! Starting my new role as entertainment PA announcer for @Panthers football games! #KeepPounding,' he wrote. However, it's fair to say Allen still carries some heaviness about his past replacement. Recently, Allen reunited with former colleague Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the latter's podcast 'Dale Jr Download', where Allen admitted he was "crushed" when he found out he was being replaced. Allen revealed that he was quite miffed with how NC handled his exit from the NASCAR Cup Series and added that the network told him not to say anything or release a statement about being replaced. 'You said I kind of disappeared...I did. I was told not to say anything initially and then I kind of just thought I'm gonna not say anything,' Allen revealed. "Would you have done it differently?" said Earnhardt Jr., to which Allen replied, "I think so now." Allen broke down how his exchange with NBA legend Michael Jordan, who was very taken aback by the switch and even asked him about it. 'We were at Michael Jordan's golf course. The first think that Jordan says to me: 'What'd you do man? Howcome you aren't announcing the races? You're NASCAR'. Allen continued, "I sat there and I was like 'oh my'. Not only does Jordan know who I am, which I was like wow, okay. He thought I had done something wrong and that's why they put Diffey in. By me not saying anything, and the way NBC did it, I think it looked like I had done something wrong and that's why I wasn't [on anymore]. Club Car and U.S. LSPTV Coalition Join Congressman Rick Allen in Testimony Before ITC as Final Trade Ruling Nears
AUGUSTA, Ga., June 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Club Car leaders appeared before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) in Washington, D.C., to provide testimony as part of the Commission's final hearing in the ongoing antidumping and countervailing duty (AD/CVD) case concerning low-speed vehicle imports from China. The hearing is a critical step in the ITC's final determination on whether illegally dumped and subsidized imports of Chinese golf cars and personal transportation vehicles have materially harmed the U.S. industry. "On a level playing field, U.S. companies can out-innovate and out-compete anyone in the world," said Congressman Rick Allen. "However, when foreign companies—with government backing—violate international trade rules and flood the U.S. market with dumped and subsidized products, the playing field is far from even." Club Car leaders provided firsthand evidence of the injury caused by unfair trade practices, including lost sales, price suppression, and competitive disruption in both the consumer personal transportation and golf fleet markets. "We cut, bend, and weld that aluminum inside the four walls of our Augusta, GA manufacturing location to create the structural frame and chassis for every vehicle we sell," said Mark Wagner, Club Car President and CEO (Retiring). "We had to take a stand to protect the American workers who build our cars every day to support their families and have experienced lower take home pay." The Commerce Department has already issued a preliminary determination confirming that Chinese manufacturers benefit from significant government subsidies and sell products in the U.S. at less than fair value. The ITC's upcoming ruling will determine whether duties will be imposed for the next five years. "Chinese producers are flooding the market with lookalike vehicles at artificially low prices—and the consequences have been real for our business, our employees, and our dealers," said Mark Rickell, Club Car, Vice President of Sales – Americas. "There is no portion of the market that is insulated. As U.S. producers lose market share and price competition intensifies, the economics of producing each unit worsen. This is unsustainable." Representatives of a broader U.S. manufacturing coalition advocating for fair competition and enforcement of U.S. trade laws also provided testimony during the hearing. Augustans gather at All-Wars monument for 157th observance of Memorial Day
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)- Several ceremonies are taking place across the CSRA for Memorial Day, including the annual gathering at the All-Wars monument. This annual tradition in the Garden City brings community members, veterans, and those currently serving together, to pause and reflect on the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. The Augusta Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars hosting veterans across several military branches and those currently serving. State leaders remember our fallen soldiers for showing what it means to be an American. 'These values have made our military the greatest and most lethal military force in history,' said Congressman Rick Allen. 'It's service above self. You never leave a soldier on the battlefield, and you're willing to make the greatest sacrifice—your life—to save another.' Nearly a million and a half veterans lost their lives in combat. Mayor Garnett Johnson joined Congressman Allen with remarks, remembering three of those heroes who called Augusta home. 'You think about Jimmy Dyess, who lost his life during World War II. Nathaniel Johnson, who was a Glenn Hills High School graduate and played football, lost his life in 2003 during the Iraq War. And then there's Joseph Bowen, who lost his life during the Korean War, and his remains were not so long ago brought back to Augusta,' said Johnson. 'A lot of people say it's the unofficial start of summer—and I don't see it that way. It's a day we honor those who made that sacrifice so we can enjoy our freedoms Sunday through Saturday, 24/7, and 365.' District 5 Commissioner Don Clark also served in the Armed Forces. He and others are remembering the ones who gave it all for the freedoms Americans enjoy every day. 'It means a lot as a veteran that served to be honored—to observe with folks that are no longer with us. But their families and us continue to carry their legacies forward,' said Clark. 'You can't say no, don't go to a ball game, or no, don't have a hot dog, don't do that. That's important to bond with your family and friends. But, just remember—the people who went out and didn't come home made it possible for you to do that,' said Sergeant Major Michael Culbertson. Clark also continues to advocate for a veterans cemetery to come to Augusta—an effort that's been ongoing for more than 5 years. 'We have a thriving community of veterans, of active-duty service members. The only thing missing is a suitable resting place where we can collect everyone together,' said Clark. 'I think it's long overdue, and we just have to keep fighting to ensure that it comes to fruition.' Monday also marks the 157th observance of Memorial Day, dating back to 1868.
