Titanic Submersible: Timeline of Implosion Revealed in Audio Recording
Originally appeared on E! Online Investigators may have uncovered when exactly the 2023 Titan submersible implosion took place. The U.S. Coast Guard released a 20-second audio recording of what is believed to be the implosion of the underwater vessel on June 18, 2023, offering a more detailed account of the ill-fated trip to explore the wreckage of the RMS Titanic. The watercraft descended into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada around 8 a.m. EDT with a 96-hour oxygen supply, according to ABC News. At the beginning of the audio clip—consisting of a muffled boom sound followed by an eerie silence—an onscreen note indicated the audio was recorded at 9:34 a.m. EDT on the morning that the voyage began, suggesting the Titan imploded at that point. Prior to the audio release, OceanGate Expeditions—the company who organized the excursion—was believed to have lost contact with the vessel roughly one hour and 45 minutes into its journey, which would be 9:45 a.m., according to the outlet. After the Titan's 3 p.m. return time had passed, the Coast Guard received a report of an overdue submersible at 5:40 p.m. EDT. More from E! As the rescue mission went on, a Canadian aircraft 'detected underwater noises in the search area,' according to a post from the Coast Guard on X (formerly Twitter), leading rescue efforts to be relocated 'in an attempt to explore the origin of the noises.' But sadly, those efforts proved to be futile. On June 22, four days after the Titan's disappearance, the Coast Guard announced that debris from the submersible was recovered in the search area, followed by a statement from OceanGate declaring their belief that all five passengers 'have sadly been lost.' 'Our hearts are with these five souls and every member of their families during this tragic time,' the company said in a statement at the time. 'We grieve the loss of life and joy they brought to everyone they knew.' After years of development hell, a Just Cause movie is finally moving forward – with Nobody 2, John Wick, and DC talent all involved
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. A Just Cause movie has been a long time in coming. An attempt to get the open world video game adapted for the big screen in 2019 came and went and, last year, things had gotten moving again under a different behind-the-scenes team. Now, it looks like Rico Rodriguez is finally about to grapple hook his way into cinemas – and not a moment too soon. As per The Wrap, Jack Ryan and Nobody 2 writer Aaron Rabin is penning the script for Just Cause, which already has Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto on board. There has been nothing announced in the way of casting, release date, or plot just yet, but we'd expect the upcoming title to draw heavily from the video game franchise. In the series, which currently consists of four games, Rico Rodriguez frequently finds himself toppling dictators and oppressive regimes with his own inimitable hard-hitting, high-flying style. There are action chops aplenty on the producing side of things, too, as 87North's David Leitch, who directed Bullet Train and co-directed the first John Wick movie, is part of the project alongside partner Kelly McCormick. Rabin's next project Nobody 2, starring Bob Odenkirk, is set to release in cinemas on August 15. The cast also features Connie Nielsen, RZA, Sharon Stone, and a returning Christopher Lloyd. For more, check out the upcoming video game movies heading your way very soon. Then dive into the list of new PS5 games and new Xbox Series X games releasing in 2025 and beyond.
