Investigators may have uncovered when exactly the 2023 Titan submersible implosion took place.
The U.S. Coast Guard released a 20-second audio recording of what is believed to be the implosion of the underwater vessel on June 18, 2023, offering a more detailed account of the ill-fated trip to explore the wreckage of the RMS Titanic.
The watercraft descended into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada around 8 a.m. EDT with a 96-hour oxygen supply, according to ABC News.
At the beginning of the audio clip—consisting of a muffled boom sound followed by an eerie silence—an onscreen note indicated the audio was recorded at 9:34 a.m. EDT on the morning that the voyage began, suggesting the Titan imploded at that point.
Prior to the audio release, OceanGate Expeditions—the company who organized the excursion—was believed to have lost contact with the vessel roughly one hour and 45 minutes into its journey, which would be 9:45 a.m., according to the outlet.
After the Titan's 3 p.m. return time had passed, the Coast Guard received a report of an overdue submersible at 5:40 p.m. EDT.

The following day, a search for the Titan and its passengers—including Stockton Rush, Hamish Harding, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood—was officially underway. As the rescue mission went on, a Canadian aircraft 'detected underwater noises in the search area,' according to a post from the Coast Guard on X (formerly Twitter), leading rescue efforts to be relocated 'in an attempt to explore the origin of the noises.'
But sadly, those efforts proved to be futile. On June 22, four days after the Titan's disappearance, the Coast Guard announced that debris from the submersible was recovered in the search area, followed by a statement from OceanGate declaring their belief that all five passengers 'have sadly been lost.'
'Our hearts are with these five souls and every member of their families during this tragic time,' the company said in a statement at the time. 'We grieve the loss of life and joy they brought to everyone they knew.'

Originally appeared on E! Online Sydney Sweeney is soaping up the attention. The Anyone But You star recently made waves—literally—when she announced a partnership with Dr. Squatch for a limited-edition line of bar soaps that include an unusual, key ingredient: her actual bathwater. Canadian couple tied knot during New Jersey's Pokémon GO Fest

Something borrowed, something … Pikachu? A Canadian couple who hooked up while playing the widely-popular smartphone game Pokémon GO, tied the knot in New Jersey on Friday — in front of thousands of other players, who've flown in from around the globe for this weekend's Pokémon GO Fest. Sandra Maroszek and Les Dorgo from Windsor, Canada, met as they were trying to catch virtual versions of the mysterious, magical beings that grace collectible Pokémon cards and populate the beloved Japanese video games, which also inspired an animated series. 3 Sandra Maroszek and Les Dorgo found each other — and ultimately love — playing the popular 2016 game. Festival goers will be able to catch characters during the weekend, and explore habitats from the game, recreated inside the park.
