After a Flurry of Successful Lead Singles and the EP 'Ride or Die,' James Robert Webb Is Set to Drop His Highly Anticipated Outlaw Country-Inspired Fourth Album 'Weekend Outlaw' June 6

TULSA, Okla., June 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Over four decades since Loverboy iconically reminded us that everybody's "Working for the Weekend" and Waylon, Willie and company set the Nashville establishment on fire with their Outlaw Country movement, modern day storyweaver James Robert Webb offers a fresh twist on those empowering aesthetics with the drop of his highly anticipated fourth full-length album Weekend Outlaw Artfully weaving raw emotion, cinematic storytelling and clever turns of lyrical phrase into songs that feel all at once untamed, liberating and eternal, the veteran Tulsa OK singer/songwriter's 11 track set is the culmination of several years releasing a large batch of lead singles and the 2024 EP Ride or Die, Webb launched his current run of success with two songs that hit the upper reaches of the Texas Regional Radio Report chart – "Gentlemen Start Your Weekends" (#2) and "Lovesick Drifting Cowboy" (#1). Both appear on the EP and the new collection. With genre-busting outlaw soul, the tracks on the album aim to empower with a sound that is equal parts haunting mystery, explosive muscle and vibrant tradition, all captured by a spirit of fast-driving rebellion. Weekend Outlaw is inspired by and dedicated to folks like Webb who grew up in working class families and are successful professionals in other fields (in his case, a top musculoskeletal radiologist). Yet, especially since the pandemic, they realize that time is of the essence to pursue their creative dreams - and there's way more to life than the daily 9 to 5 grind. "We're all aware of the fleetingness of life, and know we've got to do it now," Webb says. "The whole 'Weekend Outlaw' mentality is about being true to our passions. My goal with the album is to encourage listeners to take ownership of their free time and follow the pursuits that come after clocking out on Friday night." Webb, who released his debut full-length Pictures in 2016, rose to prominence a few years later when two tracks from his 2020 self-titled album – "Something Out of Nothing" and "Stealing Home" – hit #1 on the Texas Regional Radio Report chart. In 2022, he was named the Country Breakout Awards' Independent Artist of the Year (an honor bestowed by Nashville's Music Row Magazine) and a year later he was a 2023 New Faces nominee at the Texas Regional Radio Report Music Awards. Expected later in 2025, Webb makes his debut as an actor playing himself in a new family-friendly holiday film currently titled "Music City Mistletoe." In addition to singing his original song "Fighting for a Dream" on camera, the film will include his recording "Merry Magical Christmas," a song he co-wrote with the film's writer and executive producer Shantell Ogden. ‘Ride or Die' First Look: Jamie Foxx Produces Indie Queer Road Trip Thriller Premiering at Tribeca

All is fair in love and war, but what if you're at war with the one you love? First time director Josalynn Smith's debut 'Ride or Die' challenges the idealization of a long-festering crush with a queer thriller twist. Jamie Foxx's Foxxhole Productions produces the feature, which will premiere at Tribeca in the U.S. Narrative Competition. 'Ride or Die' centers on Paula (Briana Middleton), who is unexpectedly reunited with her not-quite-ex Sloane (Stella Everett). Together, they decide to drive across the country to start a new life…but little do they know there is a darkness on the horizon. The below clip hints at some of the turmoil the duo will endure. More from IndieWire Luca Guadagnino Attached to Direct AI Business Comedy 'Artificial' for Amazon MGM Austrian Publication That Ran 'Phony' Clint Eastwood Interview Cuts Ties with HFPA Member Author The synopsis reads: 'When Paula (Middleton), a young Midwesterner who dreams of a fresh start in California, runs into Sloane (Everett), her secret high school crush, who has her demons, the chemistry is electric. What starts as a casual reunion between two high school classmates quickly evolves into something deeper when they make a spontaneous decision to road-trip across the country together. However, unforeseen consequences make their journey more perilous, transforming their whirlwind romance into a tense thriller.' Cody Kostro, Eisa Davis, Guinevere Turner, and Ella Jay Basco also star. Foxx told IndieWire that writer/director Smith is already a force. 'Josalynn Smith is an exciting new voice in film, and we are proud to be a part of her feature debut,' Foxx and fellow Foxxhole Productions producer Datari Turner said in a statement. 'We can't wait for audiences to see the film.' Smith, Foxx, Turner, and Matthew Keene Smith all produce the film, with Keely Weiss, Lois Drabkin, Jason McLagan, and Alicia Louzoun-Heisler co-producing. The cinematographer is Lee Muller. Foxx recently made his return to the screen with the 2024 film 'Back in Action.' Foxx reunited with his 'Annie' and 'Any Given Sunday' co-star Cameron Diaz for the action-comedy. Foxx and Turner also executive produced. 'Back in Action' was a turning point for both lead stars: Diaz had announced her retirement in 2018 and had not appeared onscreen since 'Annie' in 2014 with Foxx. Production on the Netflix feature 'Back in Action' was paused when Foxx suffered from a medical complication in April 2023; Foxx later said that he went 'to hell and back' with his health at the time. 'Ride or Die' premieres at June 8 at the Tribeca Festival as a sales title from CAA. Check out the first look clip from the film below. Clint Eastwood Says Viral Interview with Austrian Newspaper Is ‘Entirely Phony'

Go ahead and make our day, Clint Eastwood. The now 95-year-old actor and director said a viral interview that ran of him in an Austrian publication calling out sequels and franchises is completely fake, as are any quotes attributed to him. The interview was picked up widely, including by IndieWire, despite the Austrian newspaper's circulation reaching only 100,000 people. Eastwood purportedly said that he misses the days when screenwriters would pen original ideas like 'Casablanca' and that we live in an era of franchises and remakes. He even added that he has no plans to retire and that he was prepping a new movie at the age of 95. While we don't doubt that he wants to keep working forever and always appears to be prepping some kind of film, that quote appears to be fabricated as well. 'A couple of items about me have recently shown up in the news,' Eastwood told Deadline in a statement. 'I thought I would set the record straight. I can confirm I've turned 95. I can also confirm that I never gave an interview to an Austrian publication called Kurier, or any other writer in recent weeks, and that the interview is entirely phony.' If the interview is in fact phony, the newspaper picked a fight with the wrong person. In 2021 and 2022, Eastwood won millions in two separate lawsuits against CBD companies that falsely used his name and likeness to sell products. The ads suggested he had given an interview to the 'Today' show about the cannabis sativa plants, but he never gave any such interview and won the lawsuit handily. Eastwood did turn 95, and the four-time Oscar winner's most recent film, the stellar 'Juror #2,' had an unfortunately limited run in theaters last year. He last acted in a film in 2021's 'Cry Macho.' Austrian Publication That Ran ‘Phony' Clint Eastwood Interview Cuts Ties with HFPA Member Author

Kurier, the Austrian newspaper that last week published an interview with Clint Eastwood that the director and actor on Monday called 'entirely phony,' has retracted the article and said it will no longer work with the author of the piece. The author, Elisabeth Sereda, is a freelance entertainment journalist for Kurier and was a member of the now-dissolved Hollywood Foreign Press Association. She is also currently a voter for the Golden Globes (the Golden Globes are co-owned by PMC, which is the parent company of IndieWire), though she is not a Golden Globes employee. In written remarks to IndieWire, Sereda explained that the quotes from Eastwood, while factual, were all compiled as part of a 'Best Of' story for the occasion of his 95th birthday. More from IndieWire Luca Guadagnino Attached to Direct AI Business Comedy 'Artificial' for Amazon MGM 'Ride or Die' First Look: Jamie Foxx Produces Indie Queer Road Trip Thriller Premiering at Tribeca Sereda said the quotes were drawn from 14 different interviews Eastwood gave to the HFPA as part of various panel discussions with HFPA members, and for which Sereda has spoken to Eastwood several times over the years. Transcripts of those interviews historically have been free to be used by HFPA members in articles, and Sereda said that while Eastwood may not have heard of Kurier, 'he is certainly familiar with the HFPA — having given more than 20 interviews to the group dating back to 1976.' However, the original article was presented as though it were a fresh conversation given for his 95th birthday. Kurier on Tuesday replaced the link to the original article with a statement from the editor, explaining that it had no reason to doubt Sereda had spoken with Eastwood and that the article was formatted 'as an interview, not a portrait,' ultimately agreeing that the article didn't meet Kurier's standards. 'According to Sereda, she wrote the current article based on these conversations. This means that all of Eastwood's statements were made exactly as they were, and this is documented. Using multiple interviews for a birthday portrait is common practice,' the Kurier statement reads (translated via Google). 'The article was formatted as an interview, not a portrait. This was intended to create the impression that it was a new interview. The fact that this wasn't the case is not in keeping with the quality standards the Kurier maintains.' The original Kurier article written by Sereda quoted Eastwood as saying 'I long for the good old days when screenwriters wrote movies like 'Casablanca' in small bungalows on the studio lot,' and that 'we live in an era of remakes and franchises.' The article also suggested that Eastwood told the publication he was in pre-production on another movie. Sereda told IndieWire the mention of him directing another movie is based on her research via IMDB Pro, which lists an upcoming project of his as 'in development,' and 'the project is never mentioned in a direct quote, only in the intro to the article.' Kurier's statement concludes saying it will no longer work with Sereda 'because transparency and our strict editorial standards are paramount to us.' Sereda disputed the publication's explanation slightly, saying she 'was asked' by Kurier to write a 'Best of' compilation with prior quotes she had done. She also added that she was a freelance contributor, not an employee of Kurier, and over the past six months has 'phased out her contributions' following the publication of her recent historical fiction novel. A rep for the Golden Globes said that Sereda is not an employee of the awards body and clarifies that the HFPA has not been affiliated with the Globes since 2023 when it was dissolved after being acquired by Penske Media and Dick Clark Productions. Highlight to host Seoul concert in July

Highlight will hold three shows in Seoul from July 13, agency Around Us announced Tuesday. The band will be hosting the stand-alone concert 'Ride or Die' about a year after 'Lights Go On, Again.' The concert title comes from the lyrics of 'Chains,' which fronted Highlight's sixth EP, 'From Real to Surreal.' With the single co-written by Lee Gikwang, the foursome came in first place on a television music chart show. The mini album consists of four tracks, including the prerelease 'Endless Ending.' The band decided to drop it under its previous team name Beast, rights to which it earned back after nine years. The Seoul show will kick off an Asia tour of six cities in the region: Taipei, Macao, Manila, Tokyo, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.
