Right time for ‘create in India, create for world': PM at WAVES
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that technology was playing an increasingly important role in the lives of the people and urged content creators to build a more compassionate future by using art forms such as music, dance and storytelling. 'Humans should not be turned into robots. We need to make them more sensitive,' Modi said at the inauguration of the first World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES), batting for creative responsibility. WAVES is envisaged as a platform to position India as a global hub for media , entertainment and digital innovation by bringing together creators, start ups, industry leaders and policy-makers from across the world. The PM's remarks came against the backdrop of a raging debate over online content and the Supreme Court asking the government to frame guidelines to regulate it. Modi said the WAVES has the potential to become a global talent platform at a time when India is emerging as an international hub for film production, digital content, gaming, fashion, music and live concerts. He said this was the right time for " create in India , create for world" when the world is looking for new ways of storytelling while India has so much more to offer. He said the creative world holds the power to foster human compassion and deepen societal consciousness. Modi said the goal is not to create robots but to nurture individuals with heightened sensitivity, emotional depth, and intellectual richness -? qualities that cannot stem from information overload or technological speed alone. He also highlighted the need to protect young generations from divisive and harmful ideologies, stating that WAVES can serve as a vital platform to uphold cultural integrity and instill positive values. The summit began with a stirring invocation of a hymn from RigVeda set to tune by Academy Award winner M M Keeravani and performed by singers such as Shreya Ghoshal. Actor Shah Rukh Khan set the ball rolling by welcoming the guests to the summit. Film personalities like Anupam Kher, Hema Malini, Mohanlal, Rajnikanth, Kartik Aryan, S S Rajamouli and Anil Kapoor made brief speeches and lauded the prime minister's vision about creating a global platform for Indian talent. The PM said WAVES has the potential to provide global talent a platform at a time when India is emerging as an international hub for film production, digital content, gaming, fashion, music and live concerts. 'Even though the screen size is getting smaller, the scope is becoming infinite,' he said.

TTD chief BR Naidu attends consecration ceremony of 71st pontiff of Kanchi mutt
TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman BR Naidu attended the consecration ceremony of the 71st pontiff of Tamil Nadu headquartered Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham on Wednesday. Sri Duddu Satya Venkata Surya Subrahmanya Ganesha Sharma Dravid (24), a Rig Veda scholar from Annavaram in Andhra Pradesh, had earlier served at Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanams at Basara in Telangana and has mastered three of the four vedas- Rig, Yajur and Sama Vedas and has been bestowed with the title Salakshana Saraswati. The 71st pontiff of the Kanchi mutt was bestowed the name Satya Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Shankaracharya by the senior 70th Kanchi mutt pontiff Sri Vijayendra Saraswati at the special ceremony held at the Kamakshi Amman temple and the event coincided with 2534th Jayanti utsavam of Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya, who established Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in 482 BCE. Junior pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam to be anointed on April 30
The Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam is all set to anoint Duddu Satya Venkata Surya Subrahmanya Ganesha Sharma Dravid as its 71st pontiff (acharya). He is set to be inducted into the mutt by the current seer, Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal, at a function to be held in Kancheepuram on April 30. Ganesha Sharma Dravid, a Rig Vedic scholar from Annavaram Kshetra in Andhra Pradesh, served at the Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam in Basara, Telangana. He was initiated into Vedic studies in 2006. In addition to the Rig Veda, he has also completed studies in the Yajurveda, Samaveda, Shadangas, and Dashopanishads. He has also been pursuing Shastric studies. A team led by Kanchi Mutt manager Sundaresa Iyer held discussions with Kancheepuram Collector Kalaiselvi Mohan at the Collectorate on Friday (April 25, 2025), regarding preparatory work for the anointment ceremony. They also extended an invitation to her to attend the function. The current pontiff Vijayendra Saraswathi was made acharya of the Peetam at the age of 15 by his predecessor, the 69th pontiff Jayendra Saraswathi, at a function held on May 29, 1983. Jayendra Saraswathi was made acharya by Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi, whom he succeeded at a grand religious function held on March 24, 1954.

Vijayendra Saraswati CHENNAI: The Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam has identified a youth from Andhra Pradesh as its next pedathipathi and his anointment as the 71st shankaracharya will be held at 6 am on Akshaya Trithiya , April 30. Details of the person, a Vedic student , have been kept under wraps. On Thursday, Sankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswathi told close devotees of the mutt that sanyasa deeksha would be given to the incumbent Sankaracharya, who will be the next Peetadhipathi. Since both Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi were inducted in their teens, the age of the 71st pontiff is also expected to be less than 25 years, a close devotee said.
