Best Cast Younger Versions Of TV & Movie Characters
Recently, I asked the BuzzFeed Community which actors were the best-cast younger versions of a character. Here are 28 of their top responses: "Violet McGraw as Yelena Belova in Black Widow and Thunderbolts." —Anonymous "Lindsey Gort as Samantha (Kim Cattrall) on The Carrie Diaries. She looked so much like SATC Samantha and had the Samantha vibe for sure; it was uncanny. I did a double-take in the first couple of episodes of The Carrie Diaries." —Anonymous, 45, Oregon "Azriel Dalman in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV show! If you told me that Walker Scobell and he were siblings, I'd believe it!" —rainbowqueen13 "Kyra Adler and Sydney Sweeney as Cassie from Euphoria." —Anonymous, 18, Nice, France "I thought Tom Blyth did an amazing job as the younger President Snow in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. He certainly looked the part, but more importantly, he'd clearly studied how Donald Sutherland played the part before him in intricate detail, as he got his mannerisms, voice, and even the tiniest glances and inflections spot on. It wasn't a carbon copy of his performance, but a realistic portrayal of someone who still has many things to experience and a lot of life to live through before becoming the older version of themself. I'm really interested to see how Ralph Fiennes will play the middle-aged version of the character in Sunrise on the Reaping." —Anonymous, 41, UK "It's obviously Jaidan Jiron as young Cece (Hannah Simone) in New Girl." —Anonymous, 33, Washington "Jack Dylan Grazer as a young Timothée Chalamet in Beautiful Boy." —Anonymous, 18, New Jersey "In A League of Their Own, Geena Davis's older version of her [Lynn Cartwright] was so close that I thought it was Geena just made up older!" —sharpjester79 "Older and younger Kaz Brekker (Fflyn Edwards and Freddy Carter) in Shadow and Bone." —Anonymous, 28, Tennessee "Mythic Quest Season 3, Episode 7 — Isla Rose Hall plays a young version of Poppy Li (played by Charlotte Nicdao). The physical appearance is good, but it is the acting that nails it. The mannerisms and voice patterns convince you that you have gone back in time to see Charlotte Nicadao as a child." —radmagazine667 "Michael Fassbender as Magneto [a role Patrick Stewart originated in X-Men] was pretty much peak in X-Men: First Class." —sonictiger "McKenna Grace and Kate Siegel in The Haunting Of Hill House was PERFECT." —misaamaneyagami "McKenna Grace as Caroline Forbes (Candice King) from The Vampire Diaries." —Anonymous, 15, Portugal The three Righteous Gemstones kids, especially J. Given Wilde as young Danny McBride. He has his cadence and mannerisms absolutely nailed." —barbiesdreamhouse "Snow White in Once Upon a Time. Bailee Madison was the perfect casting for the young Snow White. She looks just like a younger version of Ginnifer Goodwin." —Anonymous, 41, Michigan "Viola Prettejohn as young Queen Elizabeth (Claire Foy) in The Crown. They look so alike that I genuinely thought they used CGI to de-age her, and my mind was blown when I found out it was actually a completely different person." —Anonymous, 39, Massachusetts "Sheldon from Young Sheldon [Iain Armitage] and Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory [Jim Parsons]. They never fail to deliver a good laugh." —crispyeggplant465 "Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse from Yellowjackets! But you could say that for the whole cast — the casting director ATE!!!!!" —Anonymous, 23, Canada "Colin Ford as a young Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) in Supernatural always gave me chills." —Anonymous "Harrison Ford in The Age of Adaline. Anthony Ingruber absolutely nailed the voice. If you closed your eyes, I'm not sure if you'd know the difference!" —buttercupbailey "On Orange is the New Black, a lot of their casting is pretty spot-on for past iterations of the characters, but Barb and Carol Denning were so accurate, it was spooky. I had to look it up to see if they were actually related to their grown counterparts!" —Anonymous, 34 Boston, MA "The younger version of Ray Liotta in Goodfellas (Christopher Serrone), I always thought was a good shout." —barbiesdreamhouse "Taylor Henderson as young Winifred Sanderson (Bette Midler) in Hocus Pocus 2." —Anonymous, 48 GA "Tiffany Boone and AnnaSophia Robb in Little Fires Everywhere. They were the perfect casting for Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon. Especially Tiffany Boone; she had Kerry's personality and mannerisms down to a T." —Anonymous, 29, Houston, TX "Josh Brolin as young(er) Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) in Men in Black III." —luckycat32 "Ben Savage as a younger Gideon on Criminal Minds. He and Mandy Patinkin could be related." —Anonymous "Walker Scobell as the young version of Ryan Reynolds's character Adam Reed in The Adam Project. He characterized him so perfectly, and the two actors are so alike in real life too — just watch Walker's Kraft Mac and Cheese commercial." —Anonymous And finally: "The casting of Now & Then was amazing! I feel like the legendary actors they used as the women when they were grown (Melanie Griffith, Demi Moore, Rita Wilson, and Rosie O'Donnell) did such great jobs embodying their younger selves' characters as adults. Their appearances, mannerisms, and personalities were all perfectly matched. The child actors (Thora Birch, Gaby Hoffman, Ashley Aston Moore, and Christina Ricci) were, and are, incredible actresses in their own right. All around, it was such an amazing movie because of the excellent casting." —awfulhouse65 Which other casting choices would you add to this list? Let us know in the comments!

Walton Goggins hits back at cruel comments about his appearance and slow dances with his mom in moving SNL debut
WALTON Goggins poked fun at headlines that mocked his appearance during his star-making role on The White Lotus. The actor, who played Rick Hatchett, in season three of the hit HBO made his Saturday Night Live debut and invited his mom onstage during his opening monologue. 5 5 5 During his opening speech, Walton, brought up news headlines about his appearance which labeled him as an unexpected heart throb at age 53. He described his White Lotus character as, 'pretty brooding, which the internet seemed to find attractive.' 'Some of my friends have even asked me, 'Walton, what's it like to become a sex symbol at 53 years old?' And you know what, if I'm being honest, it feels fantastic,' he joked. He then pulled up headlines that spoke about his looks including one that read, 'Are We All Horny for Walton Goggins' Receding Hairline?' Walton responded, 'I've had the same hairline since I was seven. It's not receding, it's holding its ground.' The next headline read, 'Hollywood's Newest Heartthrob Is a Greasy, Depressing Little Man Whom No One Saw Coming.' Walton joked, 'Thank you? For some reason, the part of that headline that offends me the most is the word 'whom.' It just sounds pretentious.' The Righteous Gemstones actor then turned serious and spoke about being raised by his mom in Atlanta. Walton then invited his mom, who was sitting in the audience onstage, to slow dance with him and then showed off his tap dancing skills. Later in the episode, Walton reunited with his good friend and White Lotus co-star, Sam Rockwell, in a pre-taped sketch about tiny feet. Walton's gig on SNL comes after his co-star and on-screen girlfriend, Aimee Lou Wood, slammed the show for poking fun at her teeth. White Lotus star Aimee Lou Woods SLAMS 'mean' Saturday Night Live sketch that mocked her teeth The segment, which featured guest host Jon Hamm, 54, saw Sarah Sherman, 32, play Aimee, 31, with exaggerated prosthetic teeth in a parody called White Potus. Aimee, who has previously admitted to struggling with body dysmorphia, has since hit back in a string of Instagram Stories, where she also revealed the NBC show has apologised to her. She told fans: 'Whilst in honest mode – I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny,' she told followers. The actress added that she was 'feeling righteous' and might delete the post later, though fans encouraged her to leave it up. 5 5

Some Disappointing News About Fallout Season 2's Release Date On Amazon
Fallout Fallout has already cemented itself as one of the best live-action video game adaptations ever, even after just one season, and there's some news for fans looking for info about when season 2 is coming. It's just been confirmed in a rather funny video that has Walton Goggins tearing off his prosthetic ghoul makeup that season 1 has now wrapped production, meaning it is done filming and is entering post production. So, it's almost here, right? No, no it is not. We can go back to Fallout season 1 which wrapped filming on March 4 in 2023. Then, the air date of the actual series was not until April 10 in 2024. That means we had a 13 month gap for post-production alone after filming completed. So if production ended today, we would not see the show air until June of 2026, mostly likely, over a year from now, and that would be two and a quarter years between seasons, on the long end of streaming gaps even in the age of…extremely long streaming gaps. In this instance, I wonder if some of this could have had to do with the insanely busy schedule of Walton Goggins, who just wrapped up turns in both The White Lotus and Righteous Gemstones, both high profile HBO shows. Plus, this was on his plate, filming after those. But I really just think that TV production takes so long now, especially on big-budget shows like this, it's become almost impossible to avoid these gaps, which is exhausting. A comparison point would be HBO's The Last of Us, airing now, but after a nearly two and a half year gap from season 1 to season 2. It's frustrating, but at least we know that season 2 is probably destined to be pretty cool, as the series has teased that it is heading to a famed location, New Vegas, where one of the most beloved games in the series took place, and there will likely be a lot of lore overlap. But the Fallout show thrives in part because it's forging its own story rather than trying to 1:1 copy one of the existing games, which I do not imagine would be going nearly as well compared to what we see here. Hard to imagine the series without Ella Purnell and Goggins' characters, for instance. So yeah, very long wait. Obnoxiously long wait. But such is the way of things now, and it does not seem like it's going to get better any time soon. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. The Righteous Gemstones Season 4: Danny McBride Explains Titular Family's Fate
The Righteous Gemstones creator and co-star, Danny McBride, reflected on the show's ending and why he and his collaborators decided to go in that direction in a new interview. The comedy series premiered on HBO on August 18, 2019, and aired for four seasons before concluding yesterday, May 4, 2025. McBride spoke on why the titular megachurch-running family got a happy ending in the Righteous Gemstones finale during an interview. He revealed that he considered giving the Gemstones some amount of 'comeuppance' for their actions throughout the series. 'There were always thoughts about, 'Does the church go down? Do they get arrested?'' he recalled, before explaining why he and his colleagues decided against it. (via Variety) 'Ultimately, for me, I don't know if I really want to see that,' McBride added. 'The design for me is, I want people to watch this again, and I want it to be something that ultimately feels fun,' he further stated. In The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 Episode 9, 'That Man of God May Be Complete,' Corey Milsap shoots all three Gemstone siblings: Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin. However, they survive with the help of Dr. Watson, BJ's service monkey, and Corey is eventually killed. Kelvin and Keefe get married, with Eli officiating. Baby Billy is shown spending time with his family. Elijah's gold-plated bible from earlier in the season is placed on display at the headquarters of the Gemstone Ministries. As for Eli, he reads a letter left behind by Aimee-Leigh and is later visited by Lori on his yacht in Florida. Co-writer and co-star Edi Patterson echoed McBride's sentiments, noting that one of the consistent themes of the show was that the Gemstones won regardless of whatever happened to them. 'Ultimately, the fun thing about the Gemstones is they win,' she pointed out, adding, 'Do what you f—— want to them. You cannot make them not win.' All four seasons of The Righteous Gemstones are available on Max. Originally reported by Tamal Kundu on ComingSoon. 'The Righteous Gemstones' Season 4, Episode 8 recap: Deadly ending to penultimate episode of the show
We're so close to the end of The Righteous Gemstones and Sunday's episode certainly didn't disappoint. Coming off of last week's big win for Kelvin (Adam Devine), after being named Top Christ Following Man, our focus shift to some of the other Gemstone family members. BJ (Tim Baltz) and Judy (Edi Patterson) are still navigating life with service animal Dr. Watson, while Baby Billy Freeman (Walton Goggins) dives deeper into his show "Teenjus." And Eli (John Goodman) and Lori Milsap (Megan Mullally) are still in a rough patch after their fight. SPOILERS FOR THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES SEASON 4, EPISODE 8 INCLUDED BEYOND THIS POINT The episode begins with BJ, who has a surprise for Judy that he's been working on with Dr. Watson. Moving his feet to the ground, BJ is able to stand up from his wheelchair and take a few steps. "I am healed!" BJ declares. Even though this means Dr. Watson's work is coming to an end, BJ wants to keep him, but Judy can't stand him. At a family lunch the rest of the Gemstone family think that if Dr. Watson can smoke on command then they have to keep him, and he does. But when the monkey starts masturbating at the family lunch, Judy really wants Dr. Watson gone. However, it seems as though Dr. Watson has some thoughts about Judy as well. Later that night, when Judy is in the bathtub, Dr. Watson picks up a blowdryer, with Judy concerned he's trying to kill her, until he gets called downstairs by BJ. When Judy and BJ find out that Dr. Watson's had attachment issues after the loss of his mother, Judy seems to connect with the animal. But ultimately, they say goodbye to Dr. Watson. It's also Corey's birthday and despite what happened with his mom, he invited the Gemstones, who didn't show up. But Lori and his father Cobb (Michael Rooker) both attend. After being gifted an expensive knife, Corey tells his dad he doesn't want to talk about Eli, but Cobb gets upset and slaps his son. Then Cobb goes to confront Lori about her dating life, threatening to harm Eli. That prompts Lori to see Judy, Jesse and Kelvin, saying that she needs to speak to their dad, but he won't answer her calls. Trying to get them on her side, she starts telling them stories about their mom Aimee-Leigh and all the songs they wrote together, which wins them over. On to Baby Billy, "Teenjus" still seems to be his top priority, over spending time with his family, and doing a little cocaine throughout his days on set. A particular highlight of the episode is a "Teenjus" musical number, which features Eli in the background. Another Righteous Gemstones song that will be stuck in your head. But when Eli and Baby Billy lunch while on set for the show, they talk about how Eli is down in the dumps after his fight with Lori, which prompted him to (finally) cut his hair. Just as they head to Baby Billy's car, Cobb fire blow darts at them, getting them back to his gator park and locking them in a soundproof room, where Cobb is already hold Big Ditch Mitch, Lori's ex. When the police arrive to follow up on a call from Lori, Cobb takes them through the park without issue, until they're about to leave and Mitch, who managed to escape with Eli and Baby Billy, runs near the parking lot. Cobb ends up shooting the cops. When a physical fight between Eli and Cobb begins, Baby Billy offers a funny moment where runs towards them southing "Cocaine!" after taking the drug. But it's ultimately Corey who ends up stabbing his father in the back with knife he got for his birthday, pushing him into the water, and Eli uses the gator bell to call the animals over. The episode ends with the Gemstone family and Lori coming to the gator park to make sure their loved one are OK, with hugs all around for everyone.
