"India and Kuwait have a 250-year-old partnership" Kuwait Heritage Society's president highlights exhibition 'Rihla-e-Dosti'
Kuwait city [Kuwait], May 27 (ANI): An exhibition, titled 'Rihla-e-dosti' celebrating 'over 250 years of friendship' between the regions of India and Kuwait has been put up in in the middle eastern country, with the all-party delegation to present India's stand against terror visiting the exhitibition too. Kuwait Heritage Society President Fahad Ghazi Alabduljaleel highlighted that the idea of the exhibition was proposed during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the country. The delegation, led by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Baijayant Panda visited the 'Rihla-e-Dosti' exhibition too, put up in the National Library of Kuwait. 'I met PM Modi a couple of months ago here in Kuwait, and I discussed an exhibition reflecting the great relationship between Kuwait and our great friend India. This relation, which was started in 1775, so it's like India and Kuwait have a 250-year-old partnership. This exhibition is organised by NCCAL (National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature), in cooperation with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait,' the Heritage society's president told ANI. Highlighting how a lot of valuable items and documents are in the exhibition, he underlined how historically many Kuwaitis also used to live in Indian harbours in Calicut and Kerala. 'A lot of valuable items, documents reflecting the old relationship between India and Kuwait from 1775, so we covered all the Indian harbours, because at that time many Kuwaitis lived in different Indian harbours, like in Calicut and Kerala. Our relation with India add a lot of value for our economy in Kuwait. This exhibition is very valuable, as I mentioned, many people visited this exhibition,' he said. Panel discussions were held on the partnership between the two regions, with historians detailing the maritime history, and also the grandchildren of Kuwaitis who lived in India many years ago telling their family stories too. 'Also we organised a lot of panel discussions, invited 3 of the Kuwaiti, to share their experiences of their grandfathers in India. As well as there were two specialists, and historians. We talked about Indian words in the Kuwaiti language, there was a significant effect on our languages. We also invited one historian to talk about the maritime history between Kuwait and India,' Alabduljaleel said. Earlier today, BJP's Baijayant Panda said that a joint working group set up between India and Kuwait to work against terrorism was getting great support. He further stated that Pakistan had misused the aid money they received from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), United States and the Gulf countries. 'A joint working group has also been set up between Kuwait and India to work against terrorism. The message we are carrying is getting great resonance here and there is tremendous support. We are very encouraged. Pakistan has misused the aid money it has received from the IMF, US, and Gulf countries. Instead of using the money on development, for which they borrowed huge sums, they used it to foster terrorism...' Panda told ANI. The delegation also addressed a group of Indian diaspora living in Kuwait. Panda highlighted India's united stand against terrorism and the importance of clearly sharing the country's message with the world. The all-party delegation, led by Baijayant Jay Panda, includes BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, BJP MP Phangnon Konyak, BJP MP Rekha Sharma, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP Asaduddin Owaisi, BJP MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and former Indian diplomat Harsh Shringla. "Joint working group set up between India and Kuwait to work against terrorism getting support": BJP MP Baijayant Panda
Kuwait City [Kuwait], May 27 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Baijayant Panda, leader of the Group-1 all-party delegation, on Tuesday stated that the joint working group set up between India and Kuwait to work against terrorism was getting great support. He further stated that Pakistan had misused the aid money they received from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), United States and the Gulf countries. 'A joint working group has also been set up between Kuwait and India to work against terrorism. The message we are carrying is getting great resonance here and there is tremendous support. We are very encouraged... Pakistan has misused the aid money it has received from the IMF, US, and Gulf countries. Instead of using the money on development, for which they borrowed huge sums, they used it to foster terrorism...' Panda told ANI. He further stated that the delegation's message of increasing scrutiny on Pakistan and putting them on the FATF grey list was getting a lot of response. 'Our message that there should be increased scrutiny on Pakistan, including putting them on the FATF grey list, is getting a lot of response...' he further added. The BJP MP also said that their visit to Kuwait had been outstanding. 'This visit has been outstanding. We had a long-cherished relationship with Kuwait, and as we speak, an exhibition is going on about the 250 years of trade and activities between the two countries. When PM Narendra Modi came to Kuwait, he was bestowed with the country's highest honour...' he further added. The delegation also visited 'Rihla-e-Dosti', an exhibition celebrating 250 years of India and Kuwait's friendship. Kuwait hosts five-day exhibition celebrating 250 years of 'friendship' with India
Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Adarsh Swaika and Director General of Kuwait's National Center for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) Mohammad Al-Jassar inaugurated 5-day exhibition cum talk series, 'Rihla-e-Dosti: 250 Years of India-Kuwait Friendship' on Monday at National Library in Kuwait city. The exhibition showcases rare artefacts, manuscripts, Indian currency, books, stamps, and photos of leaders from India and Kuwait. "At the opening of Rihla-e-Dosti exhibition, Ambassador Adarsh Swaika and DG, NCCAL highlighted the centuries-old rich history of India-Kuwait relations. Fahad AbdulJaleel, President of Kuwait Heritage Society, was the main curator and contributor of the exhibition," Embassy of India, Kuwait posted on X on Tuesday. The exhibition was organised jointly with NCCAL with the support of Kuwait Heritage Society, National Archives of India, External Publicity Division, Ministry of External Affairs, and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India. A booklet showcasing select photos was released during the opening of the exhibition. A panel discussion during the event featured prominent merchant families from Kuwait with deep historical ties to India -- Ibrahim Abdullatif Al-Ibrahim, Suliman Abdulmohsen Al-Khames and Abdullatif Abdulrazza shared stories of their families' India connections from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Addressing the exhibition, DG NCCAL, Mohammad Al-Jassar, said relations with India have been a unique example of deep-rooted understanding and cultural exchange. He stressed the role of culture and arts in boosting relations among people. Appreciating the growing economic ties between the two countries, he highlighted that in 1775, Kuwait's ship arrived, for the first time, at India's ports, and Kuwaitis after that established a wide trade transport network between the West and the East, turning Kuwait into a vital trade route. Many Kuwaiti families stayed near Indian ports and worked in exporting multiple vital commodities to the Arabian Gulf ports, like food and wood, he further stated. Meanwhile, Ambassador Adarsh Swaika affirmed that bilateral relations of the two nations are deep-seated and robust, lauding commercial ties that began in the late 18th century when Kuwait's ship carrying dates, houses, and pearls reached Indian ports. The ambassador noted that the event, co-organised by the Indian Embassy to Kuwait and the Kuwait Heritage Society, marks the cemented relations and boosts awareness of the two countries' youth on their common rich history. The exhibition contains documents on trade at India's ports and Kuwait's books about pearls printed in Arabic or local dialects in India, along with other items.

India and Kuwait Celebrate 250 Years of Friendship
KUWAIT CITY, May 15: In a significant cultural milestone, the Embassy of India in Kuwait is set to host an exhibition titled ' Rihla-e-Dosti': 250 Years of India-Kuwait Relationship, commemorating the long-standing friendship and collaboration between the two nations. The event will take place from May 19 to May 24, 2025, at the National Library of Kuwait. The exhibition, organized in collaboration with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature (NCCAL), the Kuwait Heritage Society, and Indian institutions, including the National Archives of India and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, aims to showcase the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between India and Kuwait. The exhibition will vividly portray bilateral relations, tracing the journey from early trade links to present-day partnerships in politics, culture, and development. Visitors can expect to see a diverse collection of rare manuscripts, personal letters, coins (including the Indian rupee, which was legal tender in Kuwait until 1961), artefacts, books, and photographs that illuminate the shared past. In addition to historical exhibits, the program will also feature cultural performances and panel discussions, offering insights into various aspects of India-Kuwait relations. The exhibition will be open to the public from May 20 to May 24, with free entry. Daily visiting hours are from 9 AM to 2 PM and 4 PM to 9 PM, except on Friday, May 23, when it will be open only from 4 PM to 9 PM. According to the Indian Embassy, 'Rihla-e-Dosti' serves not only as a tribute to a rich shared past but also symbolizes the enduring friendship and mutual respect that continue to shape the future of India-Kuwait relations.
