Dinosaur Adventure made its way to Terre Haute
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Dinosaur Adventure made its way to the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds on Saturday. This was a family-friendly event that featured life-size animatronic dinosaurs, interactive Dinosaur Handler Joe Aholt explains all of the things people learn at this event. 'They get to see what the dinosaurs look like, how they moved, facts about where they lived, when they lived, what their diet was like,' said Aholt. 'You can even hear what they sounded like, which is a cool thing.' ISU to host State Dance Marathon to support Riley Hospital for Children This event also included bounce houses, panning and mining for gemstones, and fossils, and dinosaur rides. Aholt said that he loves the fact that this allows children to have fun while being educated. 'The entertainment part is pretty cool, but the educational part is also neat,' said Aholt. 'I think dinosaurs are a great gateway science as it helps to learn about biology and earth science which are both really important for the kids to know.' Aholt said that this event is constantly moving as they typically only take off one month and year and are in a different city every weekend. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. IndyCar Opener at St. Petersburg Is a Time for Answers
Race day is for the NTT IndyCar Series opener is March 2 on the 1.8-mile, 14-turn temporary street circuit at downtown St. Petersburg. This first of 17 races will launch the first full-season integration of the hybrid power unit. Alex Palou is bidding to become IndyCar's first driver to win three championships in a row since Dario Franchitti (2009-2011). It's been a busy offseason for the drivers of the NTT IndyCar Series. Consider: They've switched teams. They've welcomed babies at home. They've gotten up close and personal with a rodeo bull. They've had fun with FOX Sports TV promotional ads. They've made Valentines at Riley Hospital for Children. They've launched a global Indianapolis 500 green flag relay, starting in New Orleans at the Super Bowl. They've lost sleep and gained seat time at Rolex 24 at Daytona. They've unveiled the ticket design in two cities for the May 25 Indianapolis 500. They've tested at Sebring. Now it's time to go racing. The NTT IndyCar Series drivers have had a packed off-season but will return to business this weekend with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding. Race day is Sunday on the 1.8-mile, 14-turn temporary street circuit that courses clockwise through downtown St. Petersburg, including a runway of Albert Whitted Airport. This first of 17 races, programmed for 100 laps/180 miles, will launch the first full-season integration of the hybrid power unit that Chevrolet and Honda collaborated to develop. The result of the first-of-its-kind project between the two automakers was an engine that will provide an added boost of 120 horsepower when used with traditional Push to Pass on road and street circuits. Used in tandem, a total of 800 horsepower is available to drivers for the first time in two decades. Teams will be allowed to start or restart the 2.2-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 engines on pit lane—a new feature this season. While the tech advancements certainly are newsworthy, the driver angles are much more intriguing: He'll try this year to match Ganassi alum Dario Franchitti, whose three-season run came in 2009-2011. Only three others have won three consecutive series titles: Ted Horn (1946-48), Sebastien Bourdais with four in a row (2004-07), and Franchitti. It's one of five tracks on the schedule where Dixon hasn't triumphed, yet the one on which he has the most starts (20). He has four runner-up finishes at St. Petersburg and an average finish of 7.6 and has cracked the top 10 in his past nine starts. This will be expected to make his 403rd IndyCar Series start, which is second on the all-time list. Dixon has made 339 consecutive starts heading into the weekend, the longest streak in IndyCar history, while Andretti Global's Colton Herta is expected to make his 100th IndyCar start this weekend. Power, who turns 44 on Saturday of race weekend, insists his career could carry on for another five years, and he could give his competitors a big 'So there!' by extending his IndyCar-record 70 career pole positions Saturday. He has led the field at nine of the past 15 poles. Those who have interrupted his streak in the past 10 years are Takuma Sato (2014), Robert Wickens (2018), Colton Herta (2021), Scott McLaughlin (2022), Romain Grosjean (2023), and Josef Newgarden last March. Power (2010, 2014) and Newgarden (2019, 2020) are the only entered drivers to win at St. Petersburg more than once. Five other past winners are entered: Power, Newgarden, Graham Rahal (2008), Herta (2021), Scott McLaughlin (2022), Marcus Ericsson (2023), and Pato O'Ward (2024). FYI: This race has been on the calendar every year since 2003, except for 2004. So this will be the 22nd edition, and no driver has competed in every St. Petersburg race. Eleven of the 27 drivers in this field, including new Ed Carpenter Racing driver Alexander Rossi, were driving for a different team last year. Three others have been elevated to full-time status. Other drivers in new places are Marcus Armstrong at Meyer Shank Racing, rookie and Indy NXT champ Louis Foster and Devlin DeFrancesco at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, Rinus VeeKay and rookie Jacob Abel at Dale Coyne Racing, Christian Lundgaard at Arrow McLaren, David Malukas at A.J. Foyt Racing, and Sting Ray Robb at Juncos Hollinger Racing. Conor Daly now has a full-time ride with Juncos Hollinger Racing, and Siegel is set for all the races at Arrow McLaren. Both had limited duty with their teams last season. Jacob Abel, Louis Foster and Robert Shwartzman will make their NTT IndyCar Series debuts. Abel and Foster have raced at St. Pete in Indy NXT.
