Rims-2 land row: Union min Sanjay joins villagers' protest

1 2 Ranchi: Union minister of state for defence, Sanjay Seth, on Monday accused the state health department of trying to rob hundreds of farmers of their agricultural land for the proposed second campus of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims-2) at Kanke. Claiming that the project would destroy acres of agricultural land, locals have been demanding relocation of the project to another site. Seth said, "The 200 farmers' families of the villagers told me that they would cultivate the site on July 18 in protest against the state govt's move to acquire land. I have assured them that I would join them. The Rims-2 should be set up on a barren land and not on agriculture land. No one is opposed to this project, but farmlands should be sparred." Rims-2 is to be built on 122 acres at a cost of Rs 1,074 crore. The hospital will have 700 beds, with 250 for super-specialty, besides 100 seats for undergraduate and 50 for postgraduate courses. The state govt has barricaded the plot with barbed wires. The villagers said they want land for farming, along with education, health, and drinking water facilities rather than the Maiya Samman Yojana of the state govt. The land is their last asset, while the property is the only source of income for food and other basic needs of their families, they added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Đây có thể là thời điểm tốt nhất để giao dịch vàng trong 5 năm qua IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Vikas Topno, a villager, said, "The union minister has also said that he would meet Chief Minister Hemant Soren in New Delhi on the issue. We met Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar over the issue last Friday." Health minister Irfan Ansari, however, reiterated that the project would be constructed on the plot.
