Ivanhoe restarts part of Congo copper mine; cuts output guidance
By Rishabh Jaiswal and Divya Rajagopal (Reuters) -Ivanhoe Mines said on Wednesday it had resumed underground mining in part of its Kakula copper mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo that had been closed due to seismic activity, but lowered output guidance for the year. Mining on the mine's western side resumed on June 7, while Ivanhoe will start pumping water out of the eastern side in August, aiming to finish by the year's fourth quarter. It will also look to open a new section for mining in the eastern part. The Kakula mine is part of the giant Kamoa-Kakula copper mining complex. The Canadian miner said it now expects 370,000 tons and 420,000 tons of copper output from the Kamoa-Kakula mining complex. It had withdrawn earlier guidance of 520,000 and 580,000 tonnes following seismic activity and floods in May. The company also withdrew its 2026 target of about 600,000 tonnes of copper production. "This is a significant setback for the plans at Kamoa-Kakula and leaves uncertainty about 2026 and beyond production and whether mining can resume in the previously developed area of Kakula East," analysts at RBC said in a note. The disruption is the latest in a series of supply-side setbacks that has tightened global copper supply, helping to drive margins for smelters into deeply negative territory. Co-owner Zijin Mining has not issued any statements on the mine's status since May, when it said the tremors had damaged mine roofs and could affect output. Ivanhoe subsequently disputed Zijin's statement, although it later withdrew guidance. Zijin did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment about Ivanhoe's latest statement.

I feel ready to take on lead roles: Rishabh Jaiswal
TV actor Rishabh Jaiswal, currently seen as Krish in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is clear about one thing—he didn't come this far to stop now. He says, 'I always had a dream to work with Rajan sir. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now When the offer for Krish came, I didn't want to let it go. It is my first TV show, and now it's been one and a half years. The character has evolved so much, sometimes it feels like I'm doing a completely different show because of the role, which has layers to it.' Rishabh says that he manages his long shoot schedules along with personal time. 'I shoot 12 hours a day, almost 22-25 days a month. Balancing that with personal life is not easy, but I've managed. I've come from Banaras to Mumbai, and doing everything on my own—from cooking to shooting—has taught me a lot. I also make sure to go to the gym and focus on health. I have found a new hobby to go for pickleball, I enjoy it after a long day at work. It is like a reset button for me.' He admits the journey hasn't been without challenges, but the passion for acting keeps him going. 'As an actor, I've always gone with the flow. But now, after playing Krish, I feel ready to take on lead roles—whether it's in TV, films, or web shows.'I'm grateful for the journey so far, but I'm also hungry for what's next. '

Virgin Group aims to raise $900 million for rail service bid, company says
By Rishabh Jaiswal (Reuters) -British billionaire Richard Branson's Virgin Group aims to raise 700 million pounds ($900 million) to fund its plan to launch cross-channel rail services as it looks to compete with Eurostar, the company said on Sunday. Virgin, which used to operate intercity train services in Britain, plans to launch services that would connect London with Paris and Brussels. It would also extend to Amsterdam in the future. Virgin Group intends to raise 300 million pounds in equity and 400 million pounds in debt, the company told Reuters, confirming a report in Financial Times, which was the first to report on the news. It also plans to be a cornerstone equity investor in the project. Virgin's plans are for a high-frequency service, which would be the first direct rival to Eurostar's 30-year-old network and could launch as soon as 2029, the company said. "The cross-Channel route is ripe for change and would benefit from competition," a spokesperson said in an emailed statement. "While Virgin is not committing to launching a service just yet, we are seeking investment from likeminded partners to invest alongside Virgin and we are delighted with the progress made so far," the company said. Eurostar told the FT it welcomed the development of rail services in Europe, adding that "competition in the high-speed rail sector is another example of the growing demand for rail transport in Europe." Eurostar did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. ($1 = 0.7740 pounds) Sign in to access your portfolio
