Man charged with kidnapping, sex-based crimes at Butler County massage business
Jul. 3—A competency hearing was set for an Indiana man accused of kidnapping and sex-based crimes against two victims. Greg Peters, of Rising Sun, Indiana, was indicted on Wednesday by a Butler County grand jury on two counts each of kidnapping, attempted rape and gross sexual imposition. Each of the six indictment counts had a gun specification enhancement, which would add time to a sentence if convicted. Peters was arrested June 7 and brought into Butler County Area III court in West Chester Twp. on June 10 to face the kidnapping charges, which are first-degree felonies. Area Court Judge Courtney Caparella-Kraemer set a $500,000 cash or surety bond. The two attempted rape charges (second-degree felonies) and gross sexual imposition (fourth-degree felonies) were presented to the grand jury with the two kidnapping charges. According to court documents, Peters, 53, lured the victims against their wills at around 3:30 p.m. on June 7 into a massage room at a business in the 8100 of Beckett Center Drive. Police said he blocked the door with his body and then displayed a handgun. He struck one of the victims "multiple times with a closed fist." After exposing himself, Peters allegedly forced a victim to touch his genitals, according to court documents. Peters, who has remained in the Butler County jail since his arrest, was arraigned by Butler County Common Pleas Judge Keith Spaeth on Thursday morning and is scheduled to be in court July 31 for a competency hearing.

2025 Rising Sun: Bay Of Biscay scratched by trainer Emma Stewart
Trainer Emma Stewart last night scratched the Chariots Of Fire winner from Saturday night's $300,000 Group 1 Rising Sun when all hope of a flight from Melbourne to Brisbane was lost. Bay Of Biscay and stablemates War Dan Buddy and Harold Smith had been on a waiting list for a flight on Friday after earlier hopes of flying last Tuesday had been thwarted. 'Emma's notified us there is no flight and scratched her three horses engaged on Saturday night,' Racing Queensland's Senior Racing Manager of Harness said. Earlier, Stewart had been adamant she would not travel her horses by road from Melbourne. Bay Of Biscay, a winner of 11 of his 22 starts and over $830,000, had been a long-time Rising Sun favourite. He led throughout for his biggest win in the Chariots Of Fire at Menangle on March 1 and then returned from a spell to narrowly but impressively win at Melton last Saturday night. Connections will now switch their focus entirely to the world's richest harness race, the $2.1m TAB Eureka, at Menangle on September 6. Bay Of Biscay ran second to Don Hugo in the race last year and is $3 prepost favourite to go one better this year. With Bay Of Biscay and War Dan Buddy scratched, emerging Kiwi pacer Betterthancash and the in-form Jacks Ultimate Fury get into the field as the two emergencies. 'You feel for the connections of those horses and the club for losing a headline horse like Bay Of Biscay, but we're thrilled to get a start and think he'll be very competitive,' Betterthancash's co-trainer Stacey White said. It makes for a huge night for White and husband David, who have top young trotter Bet N Win as a $1.50 favourite to beat Victorian star Arcee Phoenix in a heat of the Inter Dominion trotting series. It’s been a lean few years for New Zealand trotters in the Inter Dominion trotting series but Bet N Win and Oscar Bonavena are poised to change that in 2025. Story: @AdamHSport ðŸ'‡ — Racenet (@RacenetTweets) June 22, 2025 Stewart still hopes to be a major player in Brisbane with a batch of her young stars booked on the next flight on Tuesday. They include star two-year-old trio, Loucasso, Cardigan Dan and Dynamitedan, who are all major contenders in Australia's richest juvenile race, Saturday week's $500,000 Protostar at Albion Park.

Newcastle forced to remove scene from kit launch video and issue apology
Newcastle have had to apologise after they released a kit video that included reference to a Japanese flag used in World War Two as they were forced to change it Newcastle have had to apologise and change a kit release video after it included reference to a Japanese flag used in World War Two. The Magpies have tweaked the video which they admit could "inadvertently cause offence". The Premier League side were celebrating the release of their third kit and put together a video that included Newcastle fan and singer Sam Fender. Originally it also had a flag in the club's colours that resembled the Rising Sun flag used by Japanese armed forces in World War Two. It has since been deleted across all their social media channels with a new video posted. The Rising Sun Flag was previously used as the flag of the Japanese military during a period when they occupied other Asian nations. It was then associated with the Japanese navy during WWII and other Asian countries see the flag as a representation of war crimes and atrocities committed in the past. The club said in a statement: "The reaction to our new third kit with Adidas has been special, but the launch video contained a scene that could inadvertently cause offence. We apologise for that. We've removed the scene from the film to make sure that as many fans as possible can enjoy it." The new third kit will be worn for the first time against Celtic on July 19 with the club using the iconic 1997/98 third kit as their inspiration. Newcastle are back in the Champions League, where they are likely to weat their new kit on away days. Eddie Howe's side enjoyed a crack at Europe before, failing to make it out of the group stages, but are better prepared as they come off a season where they finally landed a trophy. Peter Silverstone, the club's Chief Commercial Officer said: "This third kit is a powerful blend of past and present – a bold design that reflects both our proud history and the exciting journey ahead. Working closely with adidas, we've created something that we hope will resonate deeply with our global supporters, bringing back an iconic look with a modern twist. "There's a real pride in wearing the trefoil – a symbol that connects generations of fans and players. Our passionate global fanbase will see this and wear it with pride, especially as we return to the UEFA Champions League for the second time in three years. "Just as importantly, every adult shirt sold direct from the club contributes directly to our Foundation's work across the North East, reinforcing our commitment to community impact on and off the pitch." KZN teen dies after being struck by water-filled bottle in alleged act of frustration
KZN teen dies after being struck by water-filled bottle in alleged act of frustration A 16-year-old boy tragically lost his life on Monday night in a shocking incident at the Cornubia Flats housing complex, north of Durban, after he was struck on the head with a 5l bottle of water, allegedly thrown at him by a resident. According to Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), its operations centre received a call from a distressed female resident requesting urgent assistance. Rising Sun reports that the 48-year-old woman informed the controller that two boys had been peeping at her through her kitchen door, something she claimed had become a daily occurrence. Frustrated and angered by the repeated incidents, the woman exited her home and threw a 5l plastic bottle filled with water at one of the boys. The bottle reportedly struck the teenager on the head, causing him to collapse. The woman told responders she believed the boy had died but was too shaken to confirm it. Upon Rusa officers' arrival, they discovered the teenager's body lying motionless in a neighbour's yard. He was found in a left lateral position and died at the scene. Residents helped confirm the teenager's identity. He was also a resident of the Cornubia Flats complex. His parents, who had been alerted by others in the area, arrived shortly after the incident. Verulam SAPS is investigating the matter. It remains unclear whether the woman will face charges.
