Aberdeen's Europa League foes dealt major blow ahead of tie

It has emerged that three of their players were ruled out of the huge tie at Pittodrie because they've not been granted work visas. Risto Radunovic of Montenegro, South African centre-back Siyabonga Ngezana and Ghanaian midfielder Baba Alhassan were all held at Aberdeen airport. A report in Romania claims they were kept there for four hours after travelling with the rest of their teammates. When released, they remained under surveillance at the team hotel in the Granite City. Journalist, Emanuel Rosu, claimed on X that a visa request was unsuccessful for the trio. And so, they will play no part in tonight's first leg against the Scottish Premiership outfit. A spokesperson for the British Embassy Bucharest said via Digi Sport : "The embassy has no role in the processing and granting of visas, which is solely in the hands of the Home Office. "We cannot comment on what has happened in this particular case. All those wishing to enter the UK must comply with the Home Office's advice."

FCBS boss 'not worried' over trio's visa uncertainty

FCSB face a sweat over whether a visa issue will rule three of their players out of tonight's Europa League play-off first leg with Aberdeen at Pittodrie. Montenegrin left-back Risto Radunovic, South African centre-half Siyabonga Ngezana and Ghanaian midfielder Baba Alhassan have all made the trip to Scotland. With the matter unresolved, the trio had to stay at the team hotel on Wednesday night instead of training at Pittodrie. Head coach Elias Charalambous said: "The boys are in the hotel, unfortunately it is not something that depends on us. The club tried their best from the moment we qualified because we couldn't make anything before we were sure so we had to wait. "They are not yet allowed to come to train with us because the papers, the visas, are not ready. If the visas are ready on Thursday everything will be fine because I believe that missing one training is not a big deal for them. "We have to be ready for everything. We have a huge squad, many players, whatever the situation is we have to find the correct solutions. I am not worried because we have players." The Romanian champions go in to the game as favourites, something Charalambous is not paying any attention to. He said: "I believe the two games are 50/50. I have in my mind to see two very tough games that will be decided next week." FCSB defender Mihai Popescu, who previously had spells at St Mirren and Hearts, says there is no "big gap" in quality between Scottish and Romanian football. "The quality of the players and of the teams is quite similar, here they are more aggressive than other leagues," said Popescu. "But I think the players in Romania play more quickly than here so hopefully we will show that."

Three FCSB players ruled out of Aberdeen Europa League clash as they're held at airport and put under surveillance

The Romanians will be missing a trio pf players for Pittodrie encounter after they were denied visas after landing in the North East Three FCSB stars will miss tonight's game against Aberdeen as they were denied visas after landing in the North East. ‌ The Romanians take on the Dons at Pittodrie in the first leg of their Europa League playoff tie, with the winners securing group stage football in UEFA's second tier competition. ‌ However, boss Elias Charalambous will be without Montengran left back Risto Radunovic, centre back Baba Alhassan of Ghana and South Africa defender Siyabonga Ngezana. ‌ According to reports in Romania, the trio were held at Aberdeen airport for hours before being allowed to make their way to the team hotel. However, they were put under surveillance en route and whilst there, before eventually being told they were not being granted visas, ruling them out of the game against Jimmy Thelin 's men. The Bucharest club have not been shy in talking up their chances against the Reds. ‌ Madcap owner Gigi Becali is already counting the £12million jackpot he claims his club will land WHEN they qualify for the league phase. That came after Romania internationals Dennis Politic and David Miculescu both insisted knocking Aberdeen out would be no problem for the club formerly known as Steaua Bucharest. However, their chances have likely taken a dent with three of their defenders now forced to sit out the first leg.
