Travel sentiment rebounds as travellers seek to make most of long Independence Day weekend

Pune: With the long Independence Day weekend approaching and festive cheer in the air, travel sentiment seems to be on the rebound as more people look to make the most of the holiday break. Destinations like Goa, Coimbatore, Dehradun, and Port Blair are trending this year. "We planned our holidays well in advance. We will be driving to Goa and Gokarna next weekend. We are taking a road trip because airfares are high, and hotel bookings are also 20-25% more expensive for this long weekend," said Rita Sharma, a resident of NIBM. Ved Khanna, president, Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), said that despite the Pahalgam attacks and Air India tragedy, travel is seeing a rebound in terms of demand. "While larger trends of state-centric travel are playing out, we are seeing good demand for travellers to the Northeast as well. Even Kashmir is seeing a revival in tourism this season," he said. "We're seeing that reflected in a sharp uptick in flight bookings. Travel to popular leisure destinations is up by 25–30% year-on-year. Goa, in particular, has seen a surge in demand for beach getaways, pushing airfares to Goa from Delhi and Mumbai up by over 100% week-on-week. Among the most booked domestic destinations this season are Dehradun, Port Blair, Goa, and Coimbatore." Rikant Pittie, CEO & co-founder, EaseMyTrip, said destinations like Udaipur, Goa, Mysuru, Kerala, and Hyderabad are trending, while there is also strong traction for Andaman, Himachal Pradesh, and Kashmir. "If a travel package includes experiences like organised tours, travellers are paying significantly, up to 25-30%. We've seen around a 35% year-on-year surge in hotel bookings on our platform, with travellers spending more on better accommodations and curated experiences," said Pittie. Drivecations to nearby offbeat destinations are also witnessing an uptick. Customers in and around Mumbai and Maharashtra are keen on short, driveable holidays to Rajmachi, Lohagad, Igatpuri, Lonavala, Mahabaleshwar, Bhandardara, Amboli, Sindhudurg, Kolad, Kamshet, Kaas Plateau, and Panhala, said Rajeev Kale, president & country head, holidays, MICE, Visa, Thomas Cook (India). At data shows 58% of Indian travellers are choosing short domestic trips. "During this long weekend, destinations within a few hours' drive from major metros, such as Alibaug, Karjat, Igatpuri, Rishikesh, and Mussoorie are seeing a 40%-80% surge in accommodation searches. Lonavala and Jaipur, along with Mahabaleshwar and Chikmagalur, continue to draw interest," said Santosh Kumar, regional manager, South Asia at Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Pager Health Launches AI Wellness Agent for a Revolutionary Data-Driven Health and Wellbeing Experience

One-Size-Fits-One Agentic Program Expands New Standard for Wellbeing Engagement and Proactive Health Management with Full Clinical Care Integration NEW YORK, May 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Pager Health℠, a connected health platform company serving more than 26 million members in the United States and Latin America, today announced the launch of the AI Wellness Agent. It is Pager Health's newest virtual agent on the ReallyWell℠ platform, designed to remove friction that holds members back from fully gaining benefit from well-being programs. The AI Wellness Agent serves as a conversational, intelligent companion, eliminating clicks through multiple pages or tedious searches for information. It proactively routes members to personalized, high-value actions including health challenges, coaching enrollment, or health assessment completion, often in a single step. 'As our recent Consumer Experience Survey revealed, 76 percent of those surveyed said the quality of their member experience has a significant impact on the level of trust they have in their health plan,' said Rita Sharma, Chief Product Officer, Pager Health. 'ReallyWell and the AI Wellness Agent leverage optimization algorithms built on more than 15 years of data to achieve a level of personalization proven to increase engagement, improve outcomes and bend the cost and experience curve. That same personalized approach has already driven results. One of Pager Health's core services, which also leverages this model, recently earned a 91 NPS, highlighting the power of one-size-fits-one experiences in action.' Built on Google Cloud AI and advanced natural language processing, the agent interprets intent across a wide range of phrasing styles and continuously improves its accuracy through machine learning. The result is faster time-to-task, better program utilization, and a lower volume of members requiring service calls. The agent is already being used within Pager's ReallyWell platform, combining clinical support, wellness services and contextual navigation to other solutions included in the member's benefits. ReallyWell leverages generative AI to conduct deep-dive analyses of health assessments, device eligibility and biometric data, creating an unprecedented, one-size-fits-one personalized engagement experience for healthcare, with upcoming expansion across additional solutions. Unlike legacy chatbots or static menus, the agent understands natural, open-ended member requests and guides users through personalized wellness journeys. It can detect when someone needs help, whether that's a health program or an emergency intervention, and routes them accordingly. Importantly, it's designed with trust and compliance in mind. The agent includes emergency intent detection across 19 clinically validated scenarios, directing members to 911 or 988 when needed. These protocols are built using thousands of real member interactions and reviewed by clinical teams to ensure safe, responsible AI deployment. Pager Health has also implemented robust data rights protections, including client-specific data silos and full compliance with HIPAA and privacy standards.
