Five prospects poised to climb in the next rankings update

May was full of top camps and some of the best prospects in the nation were out and about, showing off their skills. Plenty of players who may not be highly ranked showed they deserve more recognition. Check out five prospects who are going to see their stock rise when the rankings are updated again. Advertisement MORE: Multiple five-stars, blue-chippers hitting Miami for official visit weekend CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker RIVALS CAMP SERIES: Rivals Five-Star heading back to Indy | Rivals Five-Star roster | Schedule/info The 2027 class of quarterbacks in Georgia looks pretty special and Jarrad is one of the best. Arm strength, accuracy, timing and touch – Jarrad showed all of the tools in his toolbox at the Rivals Camp Series event earlier this month in Atlanta. Advertisement With a big frame and a strong skill set, Jarrad is expected to see a big jump in the 2027 rankings. Johnson is already a top-30 prospect in the 2027 Rivals250 but his MVP performance at the Rivals Camp Series in Atlanta was awfully impressive. The potential the Georgia native displayed should push him even higher in the rankings. The 6-foot-4 Johnson can throw with touch, timing, power and consistently hit his receivers in stride. Expect him to challenge for a fifth star in the next rankings update. Putting the cornerback vs. safety debate aside, a three-star rating for Odem is clearly too low. The strong, athletic and explosive defensive back has the football instincts and anticipatory skills to be an outstanding playmaker at the next level. Advertisement Odem has the long arms NFL evaluators want along with the tools and techniques to be effective in coverage. He is a well-rounded defender as well, showing the physicality to be an asset in run defense. At the All-American Bowl earlier this year, Osenda left a lot to be desired but it seems like things have started to click for the Tennessee commit. At the Rivals Camp Series event in Atlanta this month, the towering offensive tackle weighed in at 330 pounds, much lighter than he was earlier this year, and he was much more effective on the field. Osenda's technical abilities, quickness and raw strength helped him earn the MVP award at the camp and now his stock is rising. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TENNESSEE FANS AT Scruggs has been one of the most active offseason participants in the last month. He was one of the best players at the Rivals Camp Series in Dallas and then won the MVP award at the New Jersey Under Armour camp this past weekend. Likely an interior offensive lineman at the next level, Scruggs has a frame that can carry plenty of additional muscle mass but he is already very strong at this stage of his development. He plays with an aggressive streak and uses solid hand placement to keep defensive linemen in front of him. Scruggs has the foot speed and technique to keep rising up the rankings as he continues to challenge himself this offseason.

Advertisement Prediction: Texas SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TEXAS FANS AT I have an early FutureCast on the Sooners in the race for the four-star edge defender. Alabama and others have closed the gap significantly after Ford made visits across the country this spring. Oklahoma has made Ford a top priority in this 2026 class. Mayo was part of Texas' star-studded junior day earlier this spring and has continued trend high in this recruitment. Prediction: Texas The finish line is in sight for Scruggs. Advertisement Ayangbile was in Austin earlier this offseason and will camp on the Forty Acres in June. Bey is getting courted as an offensive athlete and contenders have stepped to the forefront this spring. West Virginia hosted Bey and the Mountaineers are trending now. Notre Dame remains in the mix – as does Texas A&M, which is trending up with the in-state standout. Oregon is in lead position early on with Brewster after the elite four-star visited Eugene for the Ducks' spring scrimmage. Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M also have staying power in Brewster's recruitment. Alabama will host Brewster on June 7. The Sooners have been high on Brown's radar early in his recruitment and continue to stand tall in the in-state target's recruitment. Advertisement Brown was back in Norman earlier this spring with stops also at Wake Forest, Ohio State and Nebraska. We like where Oklahoma sits early on. Caldwell made his way to Oregon earlier this spring for the first time as the Ducks established their seat at the table with the touted prospect. Texas recently offered the in-state pass-catcher, which moved the needle in a big way. Texas A&M was not far behind. Oregon, Texas and LSU will get Caldwell back on campus in June. Oklahoma and Texas A&M are leading the way with Ellis, who has been a consistent visitor on both campuses as an underclassman and into the summer. We like where the Sooners are positioned overall. Advertisement SMU, TCU and Texas are not too far behind here. Ellis, out of Louisiana, has made spring visits to both Florida State and LSU. The Tigers are in a strong spot with the in-state target getting courted at cornerback. Ellis is scheduled to make official visits to Michigan State (June 13) and to LSU (June 20). My FutureCast is locked on LSU. Alabama and Oklahoma are setting the pace with Ford, who has made visits across the country throughout the spring evaluating contenders. Penn State is trending up here and the Aggies are losing steam. Ford will have a decision made in-season after official visits to Alabama (May 30), USC (June 6), Auburn (June 10) and Oklahoma (June 20). Houston has been well-traveled this spring – visits to contenders familiar as well as new. Texas, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas A&M continue to move the needle the most with the touted passer, who has been to Texas as much as any campus already in his recruitment. The in-state Tigers and Dawgs are not far behind. Advertisement Penn State is also trending up after visiting State College in April. The four-star two-way playmaker has made made multiple visits this offseason, and intel points to the Sooners being strongly positioned with Kirkland at the tail end of spring. Mack made an early commitment for the in-state Tigers and has since been back to Baton Rouge on multiple occasions. He's also been back to Texas and will visit again. He's set to make all four of his official visits, including to Texas, Texas A&M and Ohio State. We like where LSU is positioned long-term nonetheless. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH LSU FANS AT Both Oklahoma and Texas each hosted Mayo for junior day visits this off-season. Both programs are in heavy pursuit – along with others – but the edge goes to the Longhorns, who have quickly made the blue-chipper a priority in next year's recruiting class. SMU and TCU are two teams setting the tempo in McGee's recruitment early on. Both Dallas Metroplex contenders have hosted the Rivals250 defensive back on campus this spring for visits as they jockey for position early on with the talented rising junior. Georgia, Oklahoma, SMU, Texas and Texas A&M are leading the way for Rowe, who has made visits to each of these contenders multiple occasions since backing off his early pledge to the Sooners. Advertisement The blue-chipper called his time in Athens 'an eye-opener' and is coming off visits back to SMU and Texas A&M. Oklahoma also remains heavily in the mix after reopening his recruitment. Nebraska is also ascending after a notable first visit to campus in April. Contenders are emerging for Scruggs, who has official visits lined up to Clemson (May 30), Michigan (June 6), Penn State (June 13) and Georgia (June 20). Alabama and Oklahoma are also swinging away in this one. Both the Wolverines and the Nittany Lions really covet Scruggs, but no team has made more of an impression this offseason than Clemson. The four-star prospect will have a decision made shortly after wrapping up officials. Michigan, North Carolina, Texas and Texas A&M are leading the way right now with Thomas. Both in-state programs have made strong impressions this spring, as has SMU, which hosted Thomas for an official visit over the weekend. The in-state programs are trending up moving forward. Official visits are going to loom exceedingly large in this decision. Advertisement Nebraska has also emerged as a sleeper at this point in the process. Texas has hosted Vickerson on multiple occasions already this spring as the Longhorns establish their seat at the table with one of the best in the Lone Star State for next year's cycle. Texas A&M and Florida State have also asserted themselves into the mix with Vickerson, whose father played for Michigan State. SMU holds an early lead with Williams, who has been a staple on the Hilltop for the past year and change. The Mustangs stand tall with the Arlington (Texas) Lamar standout. So does Texas and Ohio State, which are also showing strong interest. SMU is a strong early contender with Yancey, who made visits back to the Hilltop this spring as the Mustangs try to keep the blue-chipper home. Oregon (June 1) will host Yancey this summer and is a team with staying power. Two programs that have made major in-roads with Zeigler are Mississippi State and Baylor. Both schools hosted the four-star quarterback multiple times this off-season. Notre Dame, USC, Texas, SMU, Michigan and others got Zeigler on campus, with the Mustangs coming on strong of late.

Rivals Camp Series Dallas: Ranking the quarterbacks

COPPELL, Texas -- The Rivals Camp Series stop in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex is always loaded with top quarterbacks and that was the case again Sunday. We analyze the top five we saw during the event: MORE FROM RCS DALLAS: Position MVPs Advertisement CLASS OF 2025 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker 1. PEYTON HOUSTON Houston lived up to the billing during Sunday's camp. He's not the biggest quarterback you'll find but the traits are there for him to be a great one. The ball jumps out of his hand and he had good accuracy on his passes all camp. Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, USC and LSU are all in the mix for him. He was wearing a Georgia towel while lighting it up in Dallas. 2. MALACHI ZEIGLER The No. 45 prospect in the 2027 Rivals250 really caught my attention on Sunday. His size jumps out first but his ability to throw the ball is excellent. When his footwork and timing is in rhythm it's hard to find many quarterbacks that look better than him. Zeigler got better as the camp went on and very well could have been the MVP. Advertisement Tennessee and Florida State are two of his most recent offers. The Vols would be an intriguing fit for his skill set but there is a long way to go in his recruitment. 3. JERRY MEYER III The 2027 four-star anticipates very well and delivers an accurate, catchable ball. He was consistently on target all camp long especially on short and intermediate routes. While he is not an overwhelming threat with his legs, he does move around well in the pocket and throws it well on the run. He's got close to 20 scholarship offers from around the country including Florida State, SMU and Ole Miss. 4. BRAYLEN WARREN Warren has had a good offseason. He's up to 11 offers now with the most recent ones coming from Cal, Illinois and Iowa. The Omaha native showed us the accuracy on Sunday that helped him win the Elite 11 accuracy challenge in Nashville. He's got a good frame and throws a tight spiral, too. It's easy to see why college coaches have been impressed seeing him throw. Advertisement Kansas State, Iowa State and Illinois have been most consistent with recruiting him recently. His recruitment will continue to pick up steam through the summer as he camps. 5. QUINN MURPHY The three-star Baylor commit was one of the top quarterbacks at camp on Sunday. Murphy was a little inconsistent on the day but when he was on, things looked great. He's got a strong arm and throws an accurate deep ball. I like the way that he throws with anticipation as well. Murphy is a good athlete that can extend plays with his legs or even pick up yards on the ground after scrambles. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH BAYLOR FANS AT

Rivals Camp Series: Position MVPs from Dallas

COPPELL, Texas -- The Rivals Camp Series made its annual stop in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex on Sunday and many top prospects put together impressive performances. Here is a breakdown of the MVPs from the event: RIVALS COMBINE SERIES: Top performers from the event in Dallas CLASS OF 2025 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker QUARTERBACK MVP: Peyton Houston Houston was on-point through the entirety of the camp on Sunday. We loved the touch on short and intermediate throws and the velocity on throws downfield. Houston's timing and anticipation continue to sharpen, and his consistency at the position is certainly worth noting. RUNNING BACK MVP: Lathan Whisenton Whisenton was a force at the running back position -- blocking and also catching passes out of the backfield. Whisenton is built to run between the tackles and boasts speed to separate from defenders in coverage and soft hands on the receiving end. He's a 2027 back with the arrow pointing up early on. WIDE RECEIVER MVP: Jabari Mack Mack is committed to LSU and is trending to be one of the next great pass-catchers to come through Baton Rouge. Playing at 200 pounds this spring, Mack maintains his speed to burn downfield and is a precise route-runner with plus hands and range on the receiving end. The four-star prospects brings explosiveness and physicality to the WR position and hasn't missed a beat since the end of his junior year. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH LSU FANS AT OFFENSIVE LINE MVP: Ismael Camara The French transplant was absolutely dominant playing left tackle on Sunday. Cara has excellent feet, plays with leverage effectively and is a finisher — which is why we love his upside as an interior offensive lineman. Camara boasts functional strength plus athleticism in an excellent frame. DEFENSIVE LINE MVP: Jalen Brewster Brewster was explosive playing multiple positions on the interior defensive line during camp on Sunday. The four-star prospect plays downhill with strong hands and a high motor. Brewster is bendy and versatile and provides major past rush juice from the interior defensive line. LINEBACKER MVP: Kailer Pettijohn Pettijohn, the cousin of former five-star Riley Pettijohn, earned MVP honors after a compelling performance in coverage on Sunday. The three-star prospect has great hips and moves well laterally in addition to keeping pace with speedy backs running routes to the sideline and upfield. Pettijohn was sticky in coverage and built to stop the run -- a true three-down defender in the middle. DEFENSIVE BACK MVP: Jerry Outhouse, Jr. Outhouse Jr. took home MVP honors despite a loaded field of blue-chip defensive backs competing Sunday. Outhouse was sticky in coverage, able to flip his hips and turn and run with an array of different pass-catchers and close on passes with intensity. We loved Outhouse's physicality on the back end -- able to play off and cover inside and out at a consistent clip -- in addition to getting his hands on several balls along the way.
