Nebraska makes top five for 2026 four-star linebacker

Nebraska makes top five for 2026 four-star linebacker Nebraska football made the top five on Thursday for 2026 four-star linebacker Calvin Thomas. Thomas made the announcement on social media. The Texas Longhorns, North Carolina Tar Heels, Michigan Wolverines, and SMU Mustangs also made his top five in addition to the Huskers. Thomas is the 42nd overall player in the state of Texas and the 22nd overall player in his position for the 2026 class per Rivals rankings. He has 34 offers in total, including some from Big Ten schools. Michigan, Illinois, Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Wisconsin have offered him in addition to the Huskers. He most recently received an offer from Syracuse on June 3. The dynamic linebacker recorded 69 tackles, seven sacks, and an interception last season for Cyprus Ranch High School, according to statistics from The Huskers have some work to do in the 2026 class. The class currently ranks 62nd overall with four total commitments per Rivals Team Rankings. There are currently several visits set up for this month, it will be interesting to see what this class looks like at the end of June. For now, Nebraska is in good company for Thomas. He would be a playmaking linebacker, and also a solid fit in John Butler's defense. Nebraska makes strong impression on class of 2026 running back

Nebraska makes strong impression on class of 2026 running back Nebraska football has built a strong relationship with 2026 four-star running back DeZephen Walker. On Friday, he spoke about the coaching staff in a piece by Tim Verghese. Walker is the fifth overall player in the state of Missouri and the 16th overall player at his position per Rivals ratings. He is set to take an official visit to Lincoln on June 20, which is a busy summer for him. He will also take an unofficial visit to Kansas on May 30, an official visit to Kansas State on June 6, and an official visit to Notre Dame on June 13. Walker is far from a sure thing for the Huskers. However, as he told Verghese, he likes the approach they have taken in his recruitment. 'They love my family, they've been around us a lot... they've built that relationship and that relationship is tight.' Walker would be a solid get for a 2026 class with four total commitments. The class itself ranks 55th overall nationally per Rivals Team Rankings. The program could use additional depth at running back, and Walker could be a good fit. Four-star WR Kohen Brown backs off his commitment to USC

USC's top-ranked recruiting class took a major hit on Friday. The Trojans lost a commitment from four-star 2026 wide receiver Kohen Brown -- who verbally pledged to the program just more than a month ago during an unofficial visit out to campus. Advertisement Brown is the No. 243 overall player in the Rivals250 for this recruiting cycle and the No. 32-ranked WR in the 2026 cycle. Brown was one of five wide receivers committed to the Trojans in this 2026 class, which entered the day standing at No. 1 in the Rivals Team Rankings. USC remains very much in play with five-star WR Ethan Feaster, who is considering the Trojans along with Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M, and will make his college commitment on July 4. Before giving a verbal commitment to USC, Brown was being pursued by Ole Miss, SMU, and Nebraska, among others. With college coaches on the road this spring, Notre Dame recently extended an offer in the four-star pass-catcher's direction.

Arizona State adds a commitment from four-star WR Nalin Scott

Nalin Scott's first official visit could not have gone any better. After soaking up a weekend in the Valley, the four-star wide receiver from the Peach State locked in his commitment to Arizona State. Advertisement The Sun Devils edged out Georgia Tech, Missouri, Michigan, and others for the No. 23-rated WR in the Rivals250 for 2026 from Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern "They have been making me feel like a priority for a long period of time," Scott told Rivals. "When I got there, everyone already knew me. They made sure to let me know I was a top priority -- for their program." Kenny Dillingham and the Sun is knocking on the door of a top-20 class in the Rivals Team Rankings for 2026 after bolstering their haul with another blue-chipper over the weekend. The highly touted wide receiver from Georgia has been a top priority for Dillingham and Hines Ward, who capitalized on their time around Scott and his family this weekend. Advertisement "I loved everything about my trip to Arizona State," Scott explained. "The main message was to get me envisioning myself in a program where I can strive while also getting the best development from Coach Hines Ward, who has been in the game and knows what he's talking about." Ward's experience in the NFL furthered Scott's interest in the program. "Some highlights for me was being able to see how they operate with the players and the actual development that Coach Ward has done since he has been in the program and being able to show it," Scott added.

SEC Spotlight: Concern level for programs lagging behind on 2026 class

Spring official visits have kicked off around the country and players are still taking unofficial visits to check out spring practices. As we enter a very busy time on the recruiting calendar, which programs currently lagging behind should be truly worried about their recruiting classes and which of them will be just fine? Advertisement We continue with a look at the SEC. Momentum has slowed a bit, but Kalen DeBoer's program holds four commitments and are standing inside the top 30 with verbals from several in-state standouts and a few more blue-chippers of note. Advertisement Jorden Edmonds recently committed to Alabama, and the Tide have potential to keep rolling with several more top targets in the secondary, pass-catchers and defensive linemen before this cycle is over. Under Nick Saban, the Tide always started slowly before finishing fast and we are predicting a similar trajectory for DeBoer this cycle. Of that group, the Dawgs hold a pair of commitments from speedy wide receivers in Vance Spafford and Brady Marchese, and there is plenty of room for blue-chip talent to fill out the class. Advertisement Georgia is in pole position for several elite targets on the offensive and defensive lines and secondary. The Dawgs are trending in a strong direction at running back and tight end. When all is said and done, we expect Georgia to be in the mix for another top-five haul. GEORGIA'S 2026 COMMITMENT LIST SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GEORGIA FANS AT OKLAHOMA SEC rank: No. 11 out of 16 Level of concern: Medium Spiegelman's take: Oklahoma is sitting with a top-40 recruiting class midway through the spring with four early commitments in the bag. Of that group, there are already teams in heavy pursuit of four-star receiver commit Daniel Odom as well as top-100 quarterback Jaden O'Neal, who was at Florida State last weekend. Advertisement The Sooners are in the mix with some elite talent in the Rivals250 and will have to overcome a few more teams working to flip some current commitments before finalizing their 2026 haul. OKLAHOMA'S 2026 COMMITMENT LIST SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OKLAHOMA FANS AT TEXAS SEC rank: No. 9 out of 16 Level of concern: None Spiegelman's take: Steve Sarkisian and Texas captured the recruiting title last year with the top class in the Rivals Team Rankings for 2025 – its first in the SEC. The Longhorns vaulted to the top after a fiery close to the 2025 recruiting cycle. They have yet to find their gear for 2026, but have the pieces in place to make a run. Advertisement Texas just added its fourth four-star commitment – from Nicolas Robertson – and is trending up with multiple blue-chippers both in-state and in SEC territory ahead of a massive recruiting weekend on the Forty Acres. Under Sarkisian, top-five hauls have become the expectation and we expect another this year. TEXAS'S 2026 COMMITMENT LIST SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TEXAS FANS AT
