Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Thursday said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy plans to develop Hyderabad into a world class city. The government has already allocated ₹10,000 crore for the city's development and that it was ready give more, if necessary, he said. The government is also taking up 39 sewage treatment plants (STPs) at ₹3,840 crore. Sewer networks are also being improved in phases in the Old City, he said. Road widening for the proposed metro corridor between MGBS and Falaknuma is progressing briskly. About 42 new power substations are coming up in the region, and 25% of underground cable laying has been completed. The issue of overhanging cables and the construction of a 50-bed hospital in the region will be taken up soon, Mr. Vikramarka said. The Deputy CM sought the cooperation of the public in preventing fire mishaps. 'The ghastly fire accident at Gulzar House should not recur,' he said, adding that all should support the proposed action plan. MLAs, Special Chief Secretaries Vikas Raj and Navin Mittal, Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Education Secretary Yogita Rana, Municipal Administration Secretary Illambarthi, Water Board MD Ashok Reddy and others were present, according to a press release.
