New project on anvil to bring 20 tmcft. Godavari water to Hyderabad: Deputy CM
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Thursday said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy plans to develop Hyderabad into a world class city. The government has already allocated ₹10,000 crore for the city's development and that it was ready give more, if necessary, he said.
Presiding over a review meeting on Old City works, along with Minister in charge of the district Ponnam Prabhakar and top civic officials here, he pointed out that the government has launched a ₹7,400-crore project to bring 20 tmcft. Godavari water to the Twin Cities in two phases.
Fifteen tmcft of the water will be used to meet drinking water needs while five tmcft will be used for the Musi River Rejuvenation project. The government is also taking up 39 sewage treatment plants (STPs) at ₹3,840 crore. Sewer networks are also being improved in phases in the Old City, he said.
Road widening for the proposed metro corridor between MGBS and Falaknuma is progressing briskly. About 42 new power substations are coming up in the region, and 25% of underground cable laying has been completed. The issue of overhanging cables and the construction of a 50-bed hospital in the region will be taken up soon, Mr. Vikramarka said.
The Deputy CM sought the cooperation of the public in preventing fire mishaps. 'The ghastly fire accident at Gulzar House should not recur,' he said, adding that all should support the proposed action plan.
MLAs, Special Chief Secretaries Vikas Raj and Navin Mittal, Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Education Secretary Yogita Rana, Municipal Administration Secretary Illambarthi, Water Board MD Ashok Reddy and others were present, according to a press release.

17 outsourced employees axed in GHMC over issue of fake birth and death certificates
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has terminated the services of a total 17 employees appointed through outsourcing, reportedly holding them responsible for issue of fake birth and death certificates. Previous GHMC Commissioner and the present secretary, Municipal Administration, K. Ilambarithi, issued the orders for termination on March 29, which the chief medical officer, Health, implemented on June 3, duly communicating the same to the two outsourcing agencies concerned. As per the orders, nine computer operators from Kapra, Uppal, Hayatnagar, LB Nagar, Goshamahal, Khairatabad, Ramachandrapuram, & Patancheru, Qutbullahpur, and Gajularamaram Circles, and eight health assistants from Malakpet, Santhoshnagar, Charminar, Falaknuma, Rajendranagar, Goshamahal, Ramachandrapuram & Patancheru, and Qutbullahpur Circles have been removed from the services. Further, two birth and death registrars have been repatriated, and two more are in the pipeline, Additional Commissioner, Health, S. Pankaja informed at Wednesday's Council meeting, responding to members' questions as to why officials have been spared while outsourcing staff were punished. The computer operators have been approving the applications using the passkey of the birth & death registrars, and to stop this practice, OTP generation has been introduced to the mobiles of the registrars, officials informed under the condition of anonymity. Even after this, irregularities have not stopped, and recently it has been revealed that four home births were approved against the norms. Corporator Thokala Srinivas Reddy alleged that the employees removed in one circle are joining another circle to continue their illegal operations, which came to fore when the respective recipients of birth certificates applied for passports. Ms. Pankaja said in order to prevent irregularities, efforts are being made to move to the Civil Registration System of the central government.

Focus on waste audit, segregation and management in 100-day municipal action plan
Waste audit of assessing the quantity and types of waste generated in a specific area, waste segregation and sustainable waste management practices will be the main focus of the 100-day action plan initiated by the government for improving conditions in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs, apart from the GHMC) across the State on the Telangana State Formation Day from June 2. The plan cleared by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who also holds the municipal administration and urban development department, includes identifying gaps in segregation, reducing waste reduction, recycling and better disposal practices. The audit will be to assess waste composition, identify gaps in segregation at every major source like a school, market, commercial area etc., informed top officials. It is to help in recommending strategies for waste reduction, recycling, and better disposal practices. Householders will also be encouraged to separate wet and dry waste at the source itself with separate bins. Local bodies have been directed to promote composting of organic waste to reduce landfill problem burden and also generate compost at the household/community level. Composting units will be set up in schools to process organic waste like food and garden waste, they said. Sanitary workers at all levels will be profiled to ensure they get their dues, including ESI/PF benefits, even as health camps will be held. The action plan also involves fixing iron mesh over open drains to prevent the entry of solid waste – a major issue of municipalities - reduce blockages and enhance cleanliness. Desiltation of storm water drains, removal of debris to prevent water logging is also on cards. Apart from reworking the street vending units and testing for food quality, street food festivals are to be conducted. The ULBs have been told to promote urban greenery and beautification efforts like development of at least one traffic junction and a park. The 'Bhuvan' survey for identification of unassessed and under assessed properties to bring them in tax net is being revived as part of the drive in association with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC). Identifying commercial and mixed properties lacking trade licences and collecting fee, door-to-door survey of all water supply house service connections for ward wise enumeration, and so on are among the activities earmarked during this period, they added.

California-headquartered AI-powered SaaS solutions provider for media and entertainment, telco and digital consumer businesses Evergent Technologies formally opened its global value centre (GVC) in Hyderabad and with it announced plans to hire at least 400 additional employees for the GVC by this year.
