Troopers responded to the area of Dix Avenue, south of I-75 in Lincoln Park, around 12:15 a.m. Friday. A 47-year-old River Rouge woman told police she was driving southbound on I-75 in the right lane when a red vehicle with tinted windows pulled up alongside her in the center lane and shot at her. The driver suffered minor injuries, according to police, but declined medical attention. Her 19-year-old passenger was uninjured. Troopers say the woman's vehicle had several bullet holes. The freeway was closed for four hours as police searched the area for evidence. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Metro South Post or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

Former Detroit-area coach arraigned on charges of criminal sexual conduct against a student
A former boys basketball coach in Michigan has been arraigned on charges of criminal sexual conduct for assault with intent for sexual penetration and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct against a student, according to Jared Ramsey of the Detroit Free Press. Mark White coached the River Rouge boys basketball team from 2016-18. According to Fox 2 Detroit, a former female River Rouge student spoke about the alleged 2017 incident on social media in December, leading to charges being filed in February. The accuser, who has not been name per Free Press policy, alleges the incident occurred at White's home in Ypsilanti. White's attorney said the coach will defend himself and his reputation at the trial. White has also coached at Detroit Renaissance and Adrian College. The accuser also filed a civil lawsuit in federal court, claiming she told another teacher about the alleged incident and saying the school 'should have had knowledge of Mr. White's sex assault.'
