Mum pays tribute to Dawid Czapaj after body found in River Stort
A mother whose son was found dead in a river has described him as someone who "always tried to help others".The body of Dawid Czapaj, 24, originally from Poland, was discovered by two young canoeists in the River Stort in Bishop's Stortford on 23 Police launched an appeal the following month to try to identify Czapaj was described as a "young man with a big heart" by his mother in her tribute released through the force.
"He always tried to help others. He was kind, warm, and helpful. He respected his elders," she said."As a teenager, he always loved to play soccer, go fishing and ride his bike. He had a deep love for animals and nature. "Even as an adult, he would catch a spider he found in his room and release it, telling it he wanted it to live too."His mother also shared how he was a keen gym-goer, who disliked violence and avoided also told how he had passed his school exams and driving test."He was a very good person and son," she police said Mr Czapaj's death was not being treated as suspicious. "Our thoughts remain with his family at this sad time," they said.
