Riyadh Launches Digital Permit Parking System in Residential Areas
Saudi Arabia has unveiled a new managed system to regulate parking in Riyadh's residential neighborhoods, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The system will issue digital permits to residents both and visitors through the Riyadh Parking app, without a fee.
This strategic move seeks basically to decrease congestion and prevent vehicles from main roads spilling into residential areas.
The authorities will firstly implement the system in the Al-Wurud neighborhood, with plans to expand it to other areas adjacent to existing paid parking zones.
In the light of this, the decision perfectly aligns with the Saudi Vision 2030 goal to maintain a more organized urban environment and promote quality of life for residents.
Riyadh Parking also revealed plans to introduce paid parking in several new areas.
Starting Saturday, August 9, paid parking will apply on Prince Mosaad Bin Jalawi Road in both directions, between King Abdulaziz Road and Makkah Al-Mukarramah Road.
Paid parking will also take effect Saturday on Makkah Road, from King Abdulaziz Road to the intersection with Prince Mosaad Bin Jalawi Road.
Through the Riyadh Parking app, linked to the national Nafath platform, residents can pay for app also uses camera-equipped monitoring vehicles to enforce regulations.
Notably, the new initiative aims to regulate over 140,000 unpaid residential spaces and 24,000 paid commercial spaces across the capital.
The project represents a significant partnership between Remat Al-Riyadh Development Company, the mayoralty's development arm, and STC.
The current phase will also cover twelve districts, including Al-Wurud, Al-Rahmaniyah, western Al-Olaya, Al-Murouj, King Fahd and Al-Sulaymaniyah, as well as four southern districts.
