Boardmasters Festival 2025: ultimate guide to line-up, stage times, full timetable and programme, tickets and dates

Not many music festivals come with their own surfing competition, but that's what makes Boardmasters so special. Set against the gorgeous beaches of Newquay, Cornwall's biggest festival is back for yet another year of beachy vibes and great music. This year you can catch the likes of Raye, the Rizzle Kicks, Central Cee, Nelly Furtado and many, many more on the Cornish shores, and it's set to be a pretty lovely weekend weather-wise too. No 30C heatwaves or tropical thunderstorms are predicted, just regular old sun. If you're about to embark on your journey into England's southernmost county, here's everything you need to know ahead of your visit to Boardmasters festival this year. When is Boardmasters Festival 2025? Boardmasters is back again, taking place from Wednesday August 6 until Sunday August 10. The majority of the music will be on Friday August 8, Saturday August 9, and Sunday August 10. Where is Boardmasters Festival 2025? As always, the festival will be in Newquay, Cornwall. It's split across two different sites: Watergate Bay, which is home to the music and campsites and is the 'most beautiful festival site in the UK' according to the organisers, and Fistral Beach where the surf competition is held. Who are the headliners for Boardmasters 2025? This year Boardmasters has a pretty good mix of headliners. On Friday it's Raye, with the Kaiser Chiefs as the 'afternoon special guests'; on Saturday you can catch Central Cee on the main stage and the Rizzle Kicks in the afternoon; and on Sunday the the Prodigy will close out the festival following a special performance from Natasha Beddingfield. Certain tickets are still available, but weekend camping tickets are sold out. However, there are still weekend and day passes that you can purchase, but you'll have to find somewhere else to stay. Alternatively, book a day entry + return coach package which will take you home after the music's done. You can get those here. If your heart is still set on camping, and you're willing to pay a hefty price for it, there are still VIP camping passes up for grabs, which you can buy here. How to get to Boardmasters Festival Cornwall is not the easiest place to get to from pretty much anywhere else in the country, but you have a few different transport options. Train The nearest train station is Newquay, and there will be a shuttle service between the station and the festival ground available for £10. You will likely need to transfer trains at some point on your journey, so be aware of that. Shuttle bus The shuttle bus service is only £10, and gets you an unlimited pass for the weekend so you can make as many journeys to and from the campsite as you like. It runs between the Fistral and Watergate sites via Newquay train station and runs all day, and into the early hours of the morning. Coach If you've booked a coach with Big Green Coach, the festival's partner, you'll get dropped off right at the grounds. There are still a few coach tickets available from certain cities across the UK – you can have a look and get your last minute tickets here. Plane If you're flying in to Newquay, the easiest way to get to the venue is by taxi. It's a very short journey, and will take you right to the campsite entrance. Car and parking There is onsite parking available for anyone driving down. It's sold out now, but if you did manage to book parking, follow the green route as you get near Newquay. It will guide you to where you need to go. Are there any banned items? To ensure the festival goes ahead smoothly, there's a few things you're not allowed to bring with you. Here's a complete list of the banned items for Boardmasters: Animals (expect assistance dogs) Aerosols (excluding suncream and deodorant. Liquid suncream and roll-on deodorant are permitted) Bladed items, including multi tools Candles or sky lanterns Anything that could be reasonably considered for use as a weapon Campfires Drones or remote controlled flying devices Fireworks, flares, smoke bombs or smoke machines Food into the main arena (sealed food can be brought into the campsite). If you have a medical condition which requires you to carry food on you for personal consumption, please bring a medical letter or doctor's note including details of your requirements as you will be asked to present this. Gas canisters or cylinders (except built into campervans) Generators (expect those built into campervans) Glass bottles (excluding perfume bottles 50ml and under into the campsites) High-vis jackets or unofficial tabards Illegal substances (psychoactive substances, nitrous oxide or legal highs) Laser equipment / pointer pens Spray paint Professional camera or video recording equipment (including SLRs and anything with a detachable lens) Spirits (alcohol) Sound systems exceeding the following size specifications (H: 184mm x D: 73mm e.g. BOOM3, please note, if on a Day Ticket no sound systems are permitted) Single-use plastic Portable or disposable barbeques, gas, paraffin lamps, or fire / gas-related cooking equipment Megaphones, air horns, or compressed air You are allowed to bring your own drinks, but make sure it's not in a glass bottle as these will be confiscated. Weather forecast Although things are cloudy right now (Wednesday August 6), by the weekend they're due to pick up. Here's the day-by-day forecast. Thursday August 7 will be pretty cloudy, with some light showers earlier in the day which dry up by around 5pm. Friday August 8 is set to be nice and dry, with sunny spells and highs of 20C. Saturday August 9 should be even nicer. Expect more sunshine – make sure you've packed your SPF – and similar temperatures peaking at 20C. Edinburgh Fringe comedian fumes as she cancels two shows 'due to Oasis gigs'

More info Comedian Kate Smurthwaite has pointed the finger at Oasis for her decision to cancel two shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, taking to social media to express her frustration, stating, "Oasis should be more considerate". The band's reunion tour has hit Edinburgh with three gigs on August 8, August 9, and August 12, coinciding with the world-renowned arts festival. The British stand-up noticed a stark drop in foot traffic while promoting her act in the city centre and subsequently pulled the plug on two performances due to poor turnout. She lamented: "Big groups of people in Oasis shirts are not interested in my show or anybody else's. "I'm also aware of performers losing their accommodations because landlords have suddenly realised they can make more money by renting the space out to Oasis fans. "It's absolutely heartbreaking to be cancelling shows for the first time in ten years at the Edinburgh Fringe." At 49, Kate expressed her dismay: "I'm pulling shows because no one turned up. I think the Fringe Society should have seen this coming and done more about it, and a band like Oasis should be more considerate of their fellow performers when they decide where and when to put their shows on." Join Edinburgh Live's Whatsapp Community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages She further captioned her post: "The Oasis Effect. Cancelled 2/3 of my shows so far today. Please if you're local or able to get to Edinburgh come and support Fringe acts as the city gets turned into an Oasis-only zone and we all suffer.", reports the Express. Her followers had a mixed reaction to the cancellations, with some suggesting she shouldn't point fingers at Oasis. One individual commented: "Cmon, you can't blame Oasis. It's one of the biggest musical comebacks of our generation, but you really think Oasis or any band, for that matter, won't put a show on because the fringe is on? "That's laughable. Completely different crowds, too. If anything, it'll bring more people to the city!". Another added their two pence worth: "Gonna be honest mate, there were plenty of people at Rizzle Kicks on the night of the first Oasis date at Heaton Park. Rizzle Kicks! I think the problem might not be Oasis." Nonetheless, several fans expressed solidarity with the comedian. A supportive comment read, "Dearest Kate, I am so so sorry... I really hope to get to see you. Sending so much love and support." Another supporter shared similar sentiments: "I agree! I don't understand why Oasis couldn't have come at a different time. What were they thinking?".

Fuming comedian blames Oasis after no one turned up to Fringe gigs

The comedian blamed the 'Oasis Effect' after no one turned up to her show. A comedian has blamed the Oasis gigs at Murrayfield Stadium after she was forced to cancel two performances at the Fringe Festival when nobody showed up. ‌ London-based comic Kate Smurthwaite took to social media to lash out at the rock band for touring during the Fringe. ‌ The Edinburgh leg of the reunion tour kicked off last night, August 8, with additional performances tonight, August 9, and Tuesday, August 12. But the concerts, which are bringing 200,000 fans to Edinburgh, clash with the Fringe- the world's biggest arts festival. ‌ The English comedian informed her followers online that she noticed a difference in attendees when flyering for her show in the city centre, reported the Express. She then revealed that she was forced to cancel two of her scheduled gigs due to a lack of attendance. She argued: 'Big groups of people in Oasis shirts are not interested in my show or anybody else's. "I'm also aware of performers losing their accommodations because landlords have suddenly realised they can make more money by renting the space out to Oasis fans. ‌ "It's absolutely heart-breaking to be cancelling shows for the first time in ten years at the Edinburgh Fringe.' The 49-year-old continued: 'I'm pulling shows because no one turned up. I think the Fringe Society should have seen this coming and done more about it, and a band like Oasis should be more considerate of their fellow performers when they decide where and when to put their shows on.' ‌ She also added the caption: "The Oasis Effect. Cancelled 2/3 of my shows so far today. Please if you're local or able to get to Edinburgh come and support Fringe acts as the city gets turned into an Oasis-only zone and we all suffer." Many of her followers responded in mixed ways to her cancellations, with several saying that she shouldn't blame Oasis. ‌ One person typed: "Cmon, you can't blame Oasis. It's one of the biggest musical comebacks of our generation, but you really think Oasis or any band, for that matter, won't put a show on because the fringe is on? That's laughable. Another also chimed in: "Gonna be honest mate, there were plenty of people at Rizzle Kicks on the night of the first Oasis date at Heaton Park. Rizzle Kicks! I think the problem might not be Oasis." ‌ However, many fans sympathised with the comedian. One commented, "Dearest Kate, I am so so sorry… I really hope to get to see you. Sending so much love and support." A second also similarly echoed: "I agree! I don't understand why Oasis couldn't have come at a different time. What were they thinking?" The Edinburgh Fringe Festival runs for four weeks every summer. The Scottish capital will also stage huge performances by Chappell Roan, AC/DC and Sam Fender, which also clash with the Fringe. Surprise albums and kisscams - these are July's truly shocking music moments

July has been an overwhelming month for music fans, as it not only saw the final ever Black Sabbath gig but the death of frontman Ozzy Osbourne. Tributes for Ozzy, who died aged 76, have been flooding in — including from Oasis, who notably kicked off their reunion tour this month. While the Gallagher brothers holding hands was a shocking sight, it wasn't the only show-stopping moment, as over at Coldplay, one couple went viral for being caught red-handed having an affair. Although 'nothing beats a Jet 2 holiday' may have been this month's unavoidable earworm, there's been new music from everyone from Renee Rapp to Alice Cooper. The charts even saw the return of Justin Bieber with his new album Swag, which secured a UK number one with track Daisies. His first solo number one in a decade. We've barely had time to process our post-Glastonbury funk with everything going on so here's some music content you may have missed in July. If you're on TikTok at the moment, it's almost impossible to miss the latest track from recently reunited Rizzle Kicks. With over 10,000 videos using the sound since the track was released on July 11, Follow Excitement featuring Rachel Chinouriri is infectiously catchy. Rizzle Kicks themselves are regularly hitting the multi-million views mark whenever they post clips, cooly dancing and lip-syncing to the track on their own page. After unveiling the song live at Glastonbury, fans have been using it on all sorts of videos from Lidl signs to gender affirming surgery countdowns (we really do mean all sorts). The varied use of Follow Excitement away from a distinct trend hints at how much of a sleeper hit this could be, creeping into everyone's playlists as a timeless summer classic. It's a triumphant return from Jordan Stephens and Harley Alexander-Sule, who took a break from music after becoming a defining feature of British summertime in the 2010s. 'I think it's actually cooler now than it was before to be joyful, on the basis that it's not as readily available anymore,' Jordan told Metro earlier this year. 'It's almost like a scarcity, so our currency's gone up, our currency of joy is up.' One thing is for certain: Rizzle Kicks are back and we're livin'. On July 25, Madonna released her long-awaited album Veronica Electronica, which had existed as a myth for over 25 years. The album is the holy grail of remix records, serving as a full-length version of 1998's Ray of Light, which is often regarded as one of her best releases. Named for her alter ego, Madonna has hinted and teased at this record for years, creating a cult following desperately waiting for it to be set free. In reality, there are only two new tracks on Veronica Electronica, one of which has existed in snippets on the internet for a long time. However, the significance of releasing this previously shelved collector's treasure trove cannot be understated. While it may not top charts, the time capsule of music gives a real wave of 90s nostalgia, with tracks like Skin and Gone Gone Gone serving as highlights for fans. Here's our music picks released this month for you to dive into. Some new, some classics, all worth a listen. Rizzle Kicks ft Rachel Chinouriri – Follow Excitement Madonna – Gone, Gone, Gone Sam Smith – To Be Free Oasis – Cigarettes and Alcohol Live from Heaton Park Remember Monday – Happier Lola Young – d£aler CMAT – EURO-COUNTRY Suede – Dancing With The Europeans Justin Bieber – Daisies Alice Cooper – Black Mamba Renee Rapp – Why Is She Still Here Bob Vylan – Killing Punk Caity Baser – The Weight of You Confidence Man ft JADE – Gossip Divorce – O Calamity Black Sabbath – Changes No, it's probably not going to ruin the world tour but Justin Timberlake's performances have been getting a grilling online. After he was called out for seemingly snapping at a crew member during Lytham Festival, JT found himself once again at the butt of the internet's jokes. This time, TikTok users have been teasing his Trolls hit Can't Stop The Feeling after multiple clips of him letting audiences sing his songs went viral. One video joking that his concert was 'interrupting his busy day', posted by farrelhegarty, hit almost 9million views. Other songs, such as his hit track Mirrors, had a similar treatment with videos popping up of Justin repeatedly saying 'come on' and 'let's go' rather than singing. Fans also rushed to defend the star, posting responses which showed him belting out his tunes too. 'POV: Justin saw all the hate TikToks and understood the assignment,' posted kkamarinaa, racking up over 2.5million views. Remember that brief period in early 2023 when Taylor Swift and Matty Healy appeared to be dating? Denise Welch does. 'Not being her mother-in-law is a role that I'm glad that I lost,' the former Coronation Street star said on Watch What Happens Live after host Andy Cohen asked about the Cruel Summer hitmaker. The gasps from the audience prompted a little softening from Denise, who is Matty's mum, as she added: 'Not that I have anything against [Taylor] at all! It was just – it was tricky.' 'Listen, you're not allowed to say anything,' she explained, 'and then she writes a whole album about it.' Denise was referring to The Tortured Poets Department, which featured some songs that fans speculated were about Matty. The 'whole' 32-track double album also had songs about her experiences with fans' parasocial relationships and her own struggles in the spotlight. Other songs like So High School seemed to point to new man Travis Kelce, who has been dating the Eras Tour icon since the summer of 2023 (after her split Matty). All's fair in love and poetry, though, as Matty is rumoured to have also written songs about the fleeting romance on The 1975's upcoming sixth album. According to The Sun, 'fans will want to listen to the lyrics very carefully'. After their explosive Glastonbury set, Bob Vylan dominated headlines along with Kneecap for their vocal pro-Palestine stances. The band has been dropped from various festivals after their 'death to the IDF chant', as well as an ongoing criminal investigation into their statements. However, Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently said the government was 'urgently accelerating efforts' to get aid into Gaza. This came after the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) stated 'the worst-case scenario of famine is currently playing out in the Gaza Strip'. In response to the government's statements, on X, Bob Vylan posted: 'Watching politicians and mainstream media suddenly change their rhetoric on the genocide makes me feel like I've truly gone crazy. I beg, we must never let them forget the stance they took and the damage they could have prevented, the lives they could have saved. We have to remind them every time they cross our path. — Bob Vylan (@BobbyVylan) July 28, 2025 'Can someone please confirm that a few weeks ago they villainized us on the front pages for being against this while they were very much pro-genocide.' The band, fronted by Bobby Vylan, added: 'I beg, we must never let them forget the stance they took and the damage they could have prevented, the lives they could have saved. We have to remind them every time they cross our path.' We've not had new music from Sam Smith for almost two years, but the Unholy hitmaker is back with a huge announcement. Sam, 33, dropped track 'To Be Free' along with a 12-night residency in New York City later this year. Speaking about the new single, they said: 'I wrote this song with my dear friend Simon Aldred. It's one vocal and guitar take from start to finish, made complete by the beautiful injection of the incredible choir we've been working with across this new project. 'To Be Free was written 5 years ago. It's more than special to me.' This era feels like a rebirth for Sam, who added they have 'been waiting for the right time to release this song'. 'I wrote it five years ago while writing my last album Gloria and then parked it because I knew it was not a song for that album. It was created during a time in my life where I became free within myself.' Sam continued: 'This residency is something I've been thinking about and planning in my head for a long time. It's such a different experience to play intimate shows, and I'm so excited to host this in a city that I adore.' Tickets will be on sale on August 1, 10am local time, for anyone wanting to go. Billie Eilish brought something a bit extra to her gigs in Manchester while on the Hit Me Hard and Soft tour. Turns out she's doing something in 3D with Avatar director James Cameron. It's all very mysterious. 'So you may have noticed that there are more cameras than usual in here,' Billie told the Co-op Live Arena crowd — which included the Titanic legend. More Trending 'Basically, I can't say much about it but what I can say is that I'm working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron and it's going to be in 3D. So, take that as you will and these four shows here in Manchester, you and me are part of a thing that I am making with him. 'He's in this audience somewhere, just saying. So don't mind that, and also I'll probably be wearing this exact outfit for like four days in a row.' That's all we know for now, so watch this space! Got a story? Formula E London ePrix

The world's first fully electric motorsport series returns to London this weekend for the final round of competition in the 2024/25 series. The single-seater series sees eleven top teams and 22 world-class drivers competing over a 2km indoor and outdoor circuit at the ExCeL Centre in the closing weekend of the eleventh championship. The London races will be something of a victory lap for British Oliver Rowland, who secured the Driver World Championship in the previous round of competition. His team, Nissan, will be hoping to secure more silverware in the Manufacturer Championship, where they currently trail behind Porsche. Timings for both days will be roughly the same, with two practice sessions and a qualifying round ahead of the races, which kick of at 5.05pm. There'll also plenty to get the fans revved up between sessions, including a live recording of the Driven By Us podcast, a quiz in the Fan Zone and live performances from Pixie Lott and Rizzle Kicks.
