Google Launches Doppl: AI-Powered Virtual Try-On App for Fashion Enthusiasts
In a bold step toward blending artificial intelligence with everyday fashion, Google has launched Doppl, a brand-new virtual fitting room app that allows users to try on outfits digitally using their own photos. Designed for the style-conscious and social media-savvy generation, Doppl is available now on iOS and Android — though currently limited to users in the United States. Whether you've spotted a trendy outfit online or come across something unique in a local boutique, Doppl allows you to see exactly how it might look on you, without setting foot in a fitting room. A Personalized Try-On Experience Unlike earlier features in Google Shopping, where users could view clothes on different model body types, Doppl brings a new level of personalization. The app lets users upload a full-body image and then overlay clothing from screenshots, store snaps, or even social media finds, visualizing them on their own digital likeness. The magic lies in Doppl's AI and image processing technology, which crafts a stylized digital version of the user wearing the chosen outfit. For an even more realistic experience, Doppl goes beyond static imagery by generating short videos — letting users see how the outfit would look in motion. Fashion Meets Fun and Function Doppl is more than just a virtual mirror. Users can save their favorite looks, build a virtual wardrobe, and share outfit previews with friends or across social media platforms. This social element makes the app a helpful companion when you're on the fence about a purchase or simply exploring your personal style. While still an experimental project under Google Labs, Doppl represents the company's continued push into interactive and accessible shopping tools. It builds on Google's previous efforts in the fashion-tech space and promises to reshape how people engage with clothing online. The Road Ahead Though currently only available in the US, Google has not yet confirmed if or when Doppl will roll out globally. With growing excitement around AI-generated content and virtual fashion, it wouldn't be surprising if Doppl soon makes its way to more markets, including India. As Google notes, the app may not yet deliver perfect results in terms of fit or detailing, but it's a playful and promising step toward transforming the way we shop — and express ourselves — through fashion.

Karmanos Cancer Institute Continues Community Education Series in June: Understanding Lung Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Options
The Community Conversations on Cancer seminar series, in partnership with the Detroit Public Library, allows Michigan residents to learn from researchers and physician-scientists DETROIT, June 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute's Office of Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) continues the 2025 Community Conversations on Cancer series in June. The Road Ahead: Understanding a Lung Cancer Diagnosis and Exploring Treatment will feature a presentation from Ammar Sukari, M.D., medical oncologist, member of the Thoracic Oncology Multidisciplinary Team, member of the Molecular Therapeutics Research Program at Karmanos, and associate professor at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Karmanos is partnering with the Detroit Public Library to present this series. This session will be held in person at the Main Branch, located at 5201 Woodward Avenue (Detroit, MI 48202) or virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, June 25, from 6 to 7 p.m. Providing a virtual option allows residents across the state to participate. "The community will be intrigued to learn about ongoing and new studies, research and treatments available that have really changed lung cancer outcomes," explained Hayley Thompson, Ph.D., associate center director of Community Outreach and Engagement, faculty supervisor of COE at Karmanos, and professor of Oncology at WSU. "Dr. Sukari and his colleagues have been at the forefront of many studies investigating more effective treatments that are helping patients overcome aggressive lung disease. Dr. Sukari will explain the difference in care that we are able to provide now versus in the past." June's session will focus on what to expect after a lung cancer diagnosis, how to determine which treatments are best, what types of treatments are being studied now, and how newer treatments compare to the standard of care. "Lung cancer is one of the most diagnosed and one of the deadliest cancers. It's preventable and we can screen for it, but in times where the disease is found in later stages, there are newer treatment options where patients have had a positive response," said Dr. Sukari. "One of the newly approved treatments that we have studied and have seen success with in and outside of clinical trials is immunotherapy." The June session will be moderated by three community leaders and partners of COE: Jim Scott, Katrina Studvent and Patrick Yankee. Scott is an active member of the Cancer Action Councils that COE supports, informing, educating, and encouraging community members to become active in cancer research taking place in Detroit. Studvent is a representative of Blare, a non-profit that provides resources and tools for individuals and caregivers impacted by chronic illness and disease through programming, navigational support and advocacy. Yankee is the chief development officer at Corktown Health, which provides primary care, behavioral health, health insurance navigation, and more. The Road Ahead: Understanding Your Lung Cancer Diagnosis and Exploring Treatment begins at 6 p.m. at the Detroit Public Library Main Branch and can be viewed virtually. The big picture: Clark Winter on the road in Beijing
It's 3.35pm in Beijing and everything is happening. The wide street, bathed in slanted afternoon sun, is filled with traffic. We are in the back seat of a taxi, paused at the mercy of the traffic controller atop his tiered stand, like a figurine on a wedding cake. The edges of the road are clogged with cyclists rushing towards and away from us, but mostly what we see is cars, cars and more cars, including the interior of our own. The four-wheeled automobile is the subject and the vehicle, so to speak, of American photographer Clark Winter's Here to There: Photographs from the Road Ahead, which chronicles three decades of road life across the US and beyond. As a youth, Winter was offered a rare place to study at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design under American photography luminaries such as Aaron Siskind and Harry Callahan. Realising he wanted to know more about the world before fixing it with his lens, he instead took an entry-level job at JP Morgan, who funded a year of education in finance and then sent him across the world to learn about global markets. He took his Leica with him. In black-and-white and colour, he takes us from the landscapes of Ohio, West Virginia and Indiana to the streets of Madrid, Rome, Pisa, Palermo, Paris, Mexico City and Beijing. Rather than seeking out particular images or motifs, Winter prefers an open curiosity – to look carefully and see what catches his attention. 'You don't know whether it's your intuition or something beneath the level of your conscious perception, but a tiny bell goes off in your head and you listen to it,' he once told Life magazine. In Traffic Control, Beijing, China, as in many of his photographs, the windows, doors, angles and purviews of the taxi act as frames within a frame, directing our vision this way and that, like the traffic warden beyond who orchestrates the road. The rear-view mirror ingeniously catches a fellow passenger, who also has a camera and sees yet another view. Here to There. Photographs from the Road Ahead is published by Damiani (€50)
