Panama City welcomes new leaders in inauguration ceremony
PANAMA CITY, Fla (WMBB) – Panama City is welcoming new leadership: Mayor Allan Branch, Ward One Commissioner Robbie Hughes and Ward Four Commissioner Josh Street were all sworn into office on Wednesday. City, county, and state leaders all attended the inauguration ceremony and offered support to the trio. Hughes and Branch are both Panama City natives and talked about how they're excited to begin serving their hometowns in a different way. 'I'm not going to try to worry about saving my seat for the next–I'm not going to make a decision for four years from now. That doesn't matter. This is a job. A seat's a seat. I'm here to serve you guys. And I promise you every day you lay your head on the pillow, just know that I have done everything that I can possible, in working with this team and City Hall and staff to make the quality of life better in Panama City,' Ward 1 Commissioner Robbie Hughes said. Results are in: Panama City, Lynn Haven voters decide runoff races for city commissions
PANAMA CITY ― Two close-fought races were decided Tuesday in runoff elections stemming from the 2025 municipal elections in Bay County. According to unofficial results listed on the Bay County Supervisor of Elections website, Robbie Hughes beat Daniel Schultz for Ward 1 on the Panama City commission, and Judy Tinder beat Jeff Snyder for Seat 4 in Lynn Haven. Both races went down to the wire. Hughes had 849 votes, or about 51%, to Schultz's 810 votes, or almost 49%. Tinder secured 1,155 votes, or about 51%, while Snyder took 1,088 votes, or about 49%. The races required runoffs after no candidate won at least 50% plus one of the votes in the 2025 municipal election in Bay County on April 22. The Supervisor of Elections' website says 3,906 Bay County residents cast ballots in the runoff elections. This was made up of 2,570 Republicans, 865 Democrats, 405 voters not affiliated with either party and 67 voters categorized as "other." Of those voters, 1,891 voted early, 1,192 voted on runoff election day and 823 voted by mail. One provisional ballot also was cast. There were two local voting sites for the 2025 runoff elections: Panama City City Hall at 501 Harrison Ave. and the Lynn Haven Senior Center at 905 Pennsylvania Ave. On election day, 788 people voted at Panama City City Hall, and 1,104 people voted at the Lynn Haven Senior Center. Panama City's election day ballots were split between 517 Republicans, 162 Democrats, 93 voters not affiliated with either party and 16 voters categorized as "other." Lynn Haven's election day ballots were split between 824 Republicans, 170 Democrats, 93 voters note affiliated with either party and 17 voters categorized as "other." Original results: Who won? Of those who voted by mail, 413 were Republicans, 296 were Democrats, 102 were not affiliated with either party and 12 were categorized as "other." Robbie Hughes wins Panama City Commissioner Ward 1
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) — During the April 22nd, 2025 Municipal Election, Ward 1 candidate Robbie Hughes came out on top with 45.9% of the vote. Daniel Schultz had 28%, and Ed Young came in with 25.9% of the votes. Panama City Commissioner Ward 1 race heads to run-off Since no one received at least 50% plus 1 vote, Robbie Hughes and Daniel Schultz faced off in a runoff election on Tuesday, May 20th. Voting for 2025 Bay County Municipal Runoff Election set for Tuesday
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – On Tuesday, voters will take to the polls to vote for the 2025 Bay County Municipal Runoff Election. This week, Bay County will have a runoff election for two races. For race one, Robbie Hughes will face Daniel Schultz for the Commission Ward One Seat. And in Lynn Haven, voters will have to choose between Judy Tinder and Jeff Snyder for the City Commission Seat Four race. Panama City voters will go to Panama City City Hall and Lynn Haven voters will go to the Lynn Haven Senior Center. Both locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday is also the deadline to submit mail-in ballots at the polls or the Supervisor of Elections Office. Early voting closes Friday for Bay County runoff election
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – The early voting period for the 2025 Bay County Municipal Runoff Election is winding down. Voters have to decide in two races. Robbie Hughes and Daniel Schultz are both hoping to win the Panama City Commission Ward One seat. The other election involves the race for the Lynn Haven Commission Seat Four candidates between Judy Tinder and Jeff Snyder. Elections officials say it's crucial that eligible voters show up to exercise their rights. 'Currently, our turnout is a little low, especially for a municipality. We've got Lynn Haven sitting at about 6.5% currently, Panama City Ward One right out of 11.5%. So still low, but we still got time for people to show up. These municipal races, I say it every election I feel like, but they're so important because they are the closest to home, they will affect our daily lives. So please don't sit this one out if you're in Panama City, Ward One, or the City of Lynn Haven,' Bay County Supervisor of Elections Nina Ward said. Early voting ends on Friday, May 16. The hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Panama City City Hall and the Lynn Haven Senior Center. You can also vote next Tuesday, which is election day.
